it probably is. since according to Japanese culture, a Japanese woman's hair is sacred so if it's cut, it means something REALLY bad happened. So it's highly unlikely that it's her real hair unless you consider getting a chance to be on TV doing a car commercial bad.

well, many Japanese people today still follow that tradition. A family friend of ours cut her hair short a couple of years ago because her dad died and Yoko Ono did it too when her husband, John Lennon died.
