He isn't in fantastic shape, is certainly not a looker, so to gain attention and popularity he did have to step it up a notch and go over the top. However, at the end of the day he is one hell of a smart, nice, and all around good guy... which is how those of us who watched WWF in the attitude era see him.

Not quite true, Kurt was fired for his drug habits (he was said to be "the worst they had ever seen" in this regard), 3D were released because WWE had done their gimmick to death and both had bombed as singles guys (Reverend D-Von and just Bubba on his own), the rights to the Dudleys name didn't become an issue until after they left WWE and they could have copyrighted the name before they entered the WWF. As for Hogan he got more mainstream attention with his show than he ever did in WWE 2002
