I live in Homer and have 2 kayaks, I would like learn how you do this , I have crossed the Bay here to Halibut cove 10 miles . and often thought of our derby $
Curious as to what your rig is for fishing halibut... kayak, fishing gear, you mentioned a spear or something? (another west coaster looking to get into kayak fishing for food for myself and my family. (southern Vancouver Island Canada)
Hi Tom, That is a nice fish from your kayak. I moved here to Juneau in October. I plan on getting a big one like you. I have made a small spear pole and hooked up a floating ball for it. I will fish all winter long from my kayak. We will continue to have fun in our kayaks :) Take care
Tom, You Da Man!! This just in from the the Halibut : Stay away from Kodiak. There's a guy over there fishing off his kayak and he's got got more salt than the ocean were swimmin in...
GREAT FISH... AND increadible job landing it... I fish often in a 14 ft alum boat... Hand lined a 146#.. quite the battle... it was all over in about 90 Sec!!!...
Congratulations man! WOW! I'm so envious! I know you probably won't but I have to ask if you wouldn't mind e-mailing me your spot you got that monster? It's been a life goal to boat a 'but from a kayak and I've not had good luck yet with anything of any size to brag about.

This one ended up weighing in at 120 pounds. My record so far is 150 pounds from the kayak.
