So yours would probably be $1700 if you went for a i7-2600k and 1 gtx 580 with water cooling CPU, 8 gigs DDR3 1600 RAM, and a 1000 watt PSU. But seriously go with a Sandy Bridge motherboard and cpu, Those are designed specifically for gaming which means less money and stronger power for games. i Have an i5-2500k overclocked to 5ghz! @xdarkflame64x Apparently the wii u is getting a 45nm cpu that's multi-core, but that could mean 2-4-6 cores who knows. But if it gets 3 cores it will probably be the same as the 360, if it gets 4 cores than who knows what the speeds will be. PS3 only has one but 7 threads to that single core making it 2 less threads than the 360. And the graphics card i heard is a custom built ATI card just like the 360's. So its actually about 5% stronger but it might be a better custom

@IceKeese Find me a PC that can run those new engines at max settings that don't cost a fortune and I will buy it. I am not a console fun, but I just say that console and cheap PCs are everywhere, if you have a high-end PC then you are frustrated, but you cannot say 'us' because 'we' cannot enjoy an incredible looking engine at low settings. I personally use a gaming laptop and it is not the greatest. I am right and have a good Christmas and New Year Sir.

@teknown that's a whole different story, laptops need to be compact and small, so you can carry them around. they're not supposed to carry such bulky hardware. if you want good specs on a laptop, prepare to pay alot. if you want good specs on a tower, well, you're better off.

Just wondering what the costs of developing these kind of graphics will cost. The ps3/xb360/PC already cost in the tens of millions+ to develop for.
Will costs be passed on to consumers, will it crush innovation as a failed gamble would put a studio out of business with such high costs.

i heard somewhere that its 50% more powerful then ps3, i dont know why they compared it to ps3 and not 360, but they used it as a refrence..altho its more similar to 360's archeticture...lol

@xdarkflame64x If you're doing the right kind of work, you can adapt it to being processed in a way that the PS3 is very good at doing efficiently, which is why people say that it's more powerful than the 360. However, writing programs and games that can use that power the right way is hard, which is why you're only seeing amazing looking games on the PS3 more recently, because programmers have started figuring out the right way to use that power.

Lol well it will definatley be cheaper if you build the computer yourself but my setup is $1500. So yours would probably be $1700 if you went for a i7-2600k and 1 gtx 580 with water cooling CPU, 8 gigs DDR3 1600 RAM, and a 1000 watt PSU. But seriously go with a Sandy Bridge motherboard and cpu, Those are designed specifically for gaming which means less money and stronger power for games. i Have an i5-2500k overclocked to 5ghz! But its watercooled so make surer you get that, MSI is a great MOBO

@kilkun You DO realize ive been building computers for 7 years and do ALOT of gaming and career programs, GHZ in a cpu is how fast your computer can compute memory, if your hard drive is slow than you wont get max speed out of your cpu same as if your ram is slow it will bottleneck your cpu, basically when it comes to gaming, rendering videos, and editing photos, GHZ is the most valuable thing in your computer. Thats why a hollywood designer needs a octo core with 6 ghz instead of a small single

@Vincini28 lol what? Your CPU can be 8.0 GHz, but if it has poor architecture and low FLOPS then you're still doing poorly. Your HDD (or SSD) speed means shit-all once everything is fully loaded, and a RAM speed upgrade/OC usually equates to a 2-3% performance gain, which is almost nothing.

depends on many factors. simply put - GHz, cache, for raw power and speeds of ram and other bits and pieces to shovel that info into that CPU or GPU for processing. FLOPS is the result.

@xdarkflame64x Apparently the wii u is getting a 45nm cpu that's multi-core, but that could mean 2-4-6 cores who knows. But if it gets 3 cores it will probably be the same as the 360, if it gets 4 cores than who knows what the speeds will be. PS3 only has one but 7 threads to that single core making it 2 less threads than the 360. And the graphics card i heard is a custom built ATI card just like the 360's. So its actually about 5% stronger but it might be a better custom

Oh and a side-note! This is an animation, not real time rendering so thats why it looks good, so every crytek fanboy GOOD FOR YOU! and every epic fanboy just stop and realize unreal engine will never have the best graphics but has always had more variety and flexibillity in physics and thats what makes a game fun! So quit yapping about the graphics and just be happy the unreal technologies are amazing when it comes to gameplay variety vs many other engines
