  • Amazing really!

  • Believe it or not...I am a retired public school teacher. I was able to use H. Zinn's "A Peoples' History" as a textbook in my high school social problems class...the school board was mum on the subject.

  • Democracy never existed. It's an illusion set to keep us all subdued.

  • If you think you know what it means to love democracy, challenge your beliefs with the history of this man's life. Enjoy.

  • Comparing a bunch of over privileged children whining and the Civil Rights movement is the greatest insult one can make.

  • @jogeryjogo If people like you were old enough to have formed an opinion during the civil rights movement, you would have been treating it in the same way as you are the Occupy movement. That is a good basis for comparison. There will always be those patriots who dissent and those cowards who vehemently support the system out of fear; you are the latter.

You will make a response to this, but it will be irrelevant. As you will be, to the future. Good luck.

  • This book changed my life when I read it as a senior in high school. Whether or not you agree with Zinn's "politics", His life's story is one that should be commended. For all of those people that will slam this video just because "Zinn" is in the name, give it (the video) or more importantly the book it is based on. Also, when you mindlessly slam Zinn for the same tired reasons that those who disagree with his politics, realize you are slamming a veteran for not being patriotic.

  • @yrsnkd. You are of course right. 'Compulsory' is not the way to go and I should think more carefully before posting. I ought to have written that the viewing/reading of Howard Zinn should be greatly encouraged.

  • @gravitydistortion @yrsnkd This is based on an autobiography and not one of many of Zinn's Historical works, thus, in a scholastic sense it probably should not be "compulsory." However, understanding from what perspective Zinn was writing when he wrote the foremost and most complete texts on US history could be considered complementary to the "compulsory" Peoples' History... In any case, arguing that Zinn has a political slant is inaccurate, being populist (or" for the people") is not ideology.

  • Thank-you very much for uploading this. It's disappointing that there are so few views. Howard Zinn should be compulsory viewing/reading especially for people living in the imperialist nations.

  • @gravitydistortion are you sure that compulsory viewing would send the right message? i see your logic, but it seems a bit like what they did with MLK's march on Washington -- taking a blatantly anti-authoritarian approach and folding it into the federal scheme of control.

  • watching this movie for a history essay... this man has got some really interesting ideas.

  • thanks so much for the upload :)
