You shouldn't hold the matches too close to your laser when you light it because when the match ignites it "sprays" out crap which makes your lens dirty.
it's probably not 125mw because i have a 125mw and its way way faster at burning than yours! also you have to hold it sooooo close to even get smoke! its probably;y a 50mw.
my 200mW takes like 0.5 seconds to light a match yurs takes like 10 seconds.... plus I usually burn it from like 50-100cm, and i garantee mine was 3 times cheaper or more... bought mine $160, his is about $400... so about 3 and half times cheper
Fail. 1mw green laser is not 1000 more powerfull than looking directly to the sun... Even a 500mw is not even close than 1000x the power of the sun. 500mw, when if you look directly at the opening from a distance of 10cm is about 40 - 50 times the power of the sun.
if u look directly into a 500mW laser it can severly damage your eyesight, if not for temp blindness you if u look at it more then 1/100th of a second
It depends on the laser distance, diverage, real power and the lighting conditions. For example if you get a direct hit in day time it is not as dangerous as getting one in complete darkness. Oh and "5mW" red pointers are usually about 1 - 2mW and green lasers are much more dangerous becouse the human eye is about 50x more sensitive to green light than red.
If you look at it less then 1/100 of a second..... that is an extremely short amount of time but after 1/100th There are risks to cutting your eye. Less one tenth of one tenth of a second....
So if you got a good 5mw laser pointer (WickedLasers Core) fore example that has a good diverage it can easly cause permanent eye damage faster than u can blink.
PS. WickedLasers sucks, the only good laser they sell is the core but all the other lasers are overpriced and underpowered. For some good high quality green lasers look at optotronics. com
Well, atm I have a 5mw green laser and the beam is very visible at night even without smoke :) So yes, a 125mW will be more than enough for a mad beam :D
I suggest getting a 50 - 95mW if ur just looking for a cool beam. 100mw+ is for burning. (Ofcourse the 95mW burns well too but over 100mWs burn the best)
PS. be sure to get proper safety equipment (safety goggles from dragonlasers) and learn the basics of laser safety before u get any high powered laser.
i'm just curious...do you look exactly at the dot of the laser ? I am always too afraid to look directly at the dot because of possibility of eye damage. Thought I USED to have laser goggles
You can look at the dot without a problem as long as the BEAM isn't directed at your eyes. If the beam reflects into your eyes from the dot, it's bad - particularly with a laser as powerful as this one. Your bog standard off-the-shelf laser pointer isn't as dangerous, but you still shouldn't look into the beam.
the only thing keeping my satisfied with my 5mw ebay cheapie is that i really cant bring myself to spend 300 on one of these or even 200 for a 95mw. ive been trying gaming lagoon and prizerebel to make a custom order for one but im only at around 15 points wich is 15 dollars
check out my video response i posted... I have a 95mW Viper that seems to be a lot better of a burner than yours and I can probably guarantee you that it has a lot to do with the batteries you're using. I am using 1/2 full 800mAh Duracell Rechargables in the video and it still lights matches from over a foot away near-instantly (with a VERY shaky hand). What I'm trying to say is that you should use better batteries than what you're using now... btw great video!
looks like you got something on the lens, also you shouldn't light matches that close as you might damage the lens (sulfur bits flying into the lens or fire damage)
if you want a quality laser you would be able to get one for 219.99 that does this stuff. or you could get one from ebay, that might not last very long, but might be able to do these things.
Please don't go to ebay for a laser. Very few from there have IR filters. This means that there is IR leakage that you cannot see and can cause permanent eye damage without ever seeing it coming. You could however add your own IR filter. But it wouldn't put out as much power as advertised then because that most likely included IR reading.
Holy shit does it actually burn through stuff??!!!

you can pop a balloon at more than 1 meter with the viper 125mW.
my blueky stealth 50mW can pop a balloon at minimum 5 feet (see video),although on fully charged batteries (50mW) can pop at 7 feet.
