so basically the FIVB Volleyball world cup venus evolution is the japanese version of the Woman volleyball Championship? which one do u prefer? coz i dont understand japanese and if i buy the American version can i play it with the PS2 from asia ( probably the japanese one)? thank you!
Yes they are basically the same game. The only difference is the name of the stadiums.
I prefer the Japanese one because the commentators sound more natural. The American version commentators sound too scripted, fake, and idiotic. You have the option to turn it off.
The American version will only play on an American system or a modified (chipped) system.
If you can play it I would recommend the U.S. version since Japanese might be harder to navigate and instructions are Japanese. Have fun!
Do you live in Germany? I can only give you this place that will ship overseas: play-asia
The game is called Womens Volleyball Championship for PS2. It is NTSC game so if you are using PAL system, it will not display correctly on your t.v. Also you need to make sure you can play US games on your system.
I'm not sure about that. I highly recommend this ps2 game though, so play-asia has it, and just make sure you have PS2 that can play US games and a PAL signal converter.
amazon Germany has: Volleyball Xciting (PS2), International volleball 2006 (PC), and Pro Volleyball (PC).
Women's Volleyball Championship is the U.S. version of this game. You are in Puerto Rico, which is U.S.A. Commonwealth, so there is Team USA. There is no team Puerto Rico.
Teams: USA, Japan, China, Russia, Kenya, Korea (ROK), Taiwan (Chinese-Taipei), Netherlands, Poland, Italy, Cuba, Brazil
Real names are not used, but you can change the names. This version is Japanese language only.
yes it's the same game. however, they changed the name of the stadiums in "Women's Volleyball Championship". The stadium names are international cities. The Japanese version it is Japanese cities.
yes, it's the same name. but what happened is, the original Team USA names are not the same. you have to change them to match the roster. you can rename it to anything. for the Japanese names, they are the exact as Team Japan. you do not have to change their names. all other national teams you must rename the players.
someone tell to my friends that the team of PUERTO RICO is in the game...but i don't really know is thats true because you tell me what ther version of that game ins USA is womens volleyball championship so..is the same team ?RIGHT??
There is no Puerto Rico team in the Japanese nor the U.S. version of this game. The closest is Team USA. You can make your own team though and rename the players to Team Puerto Rico.
You can still play the game if you have a NTSC to PAL converter or a tv that can convert NTSC to PAL. some newer TVs have this function that will convert the signal. if you have an eBay Australia account there are converters ranging from AU $15 to AU$30. it's not so bad.
you need an American PS2 or American PS3 to play the game, or a modified (chipped) PS2 system. if you are buying an American system, make sure to have plug converter also.
i actually have this game but i dnt know how to obtain the real players for each team. for example gamova and sokolova from russia, and the likes. someone help me pls
what do u mean by u used those names?? i cant input names in there... there are default players already in the game but their stats are identical to the "real" players. for example there is a russian player in the game who stands around 202cm and she's an open hitter, ironicaly gamova is similar with the stats... sigh...
This game is only available on PS2. It is available for Japan and North American PS2 systems. There is no PC version of this game as it was developed primarily for the console market.
I think the gameplay is great. It's deep and replayability is high. The AI in my opinion is easy on NORMAL but is challenging on HARD. Purely looking at it as a volleyball simulator it's pretty good. It includes quick attacks like double and the slide not seen on many volleyball games. For $10 it's worth it.
yes as you bump the ball. press the button combinations just when you are about to pass/receive the ball whether it's a serve or attack from your opponent. press either L1, L2, R1, R2 plus the O,X,square, or triangle button. Again it's supposed to be a simultaneous pressing. so if you press L1+X, you need to hit X one more time during setting to do your quick attack.
you set up your quick attacks for each of the L1, L2, R1, or R2 buttons in "Quick Operation" right before the match starts.
Thank you all for your comments. I have good news for all U.S./Canada PlayStation 2 NTSC owners. A North American version of this game was released in July 2008. You no longer need to import this game. Best of all it's only $9.99 MSRP. The name of the game is called "Women's Volleyball Championship" for the PlayStation 2. Pick it up today!!
if you live in Hawai'i toysnjoys might have but i highly suggest you not buy from them. they suck and they are rude and expensive. go there if you cannot wait. it is best to order online either at yesasia (FREE SHIPPING and it's cheaper), play-asia, or eBay. And yes it will NOT work on a US PS2 unless it is modified or you have a swap disc/swap magic.
i recommend online. if you really want it soon sometimes people on craigslist put up their JP systems for sale. eBay has some JP systems and even the shops i mentioned above have them. you can also check craigslist of people offer modification services for PS2s.
Right on. it hasn't worked for me much as the computer seems to pick up on it on the hard level. but if you're able to do it then it's not impossible. hard, but not impossible.
cool volleyball game. theres so few 6 man volleyball games out there..what kind of system are you playing it on? and Its cool that they have the names of the players....
I had to rename the roster as the roster names are all in kana. I took the corrupted kana names and just replaced them with the correct English counterpart. I did not put Logan Tom in because the Japanese equivalent listed a corruption of Hawai'i's (UH) Therese Crawford's name.
I think it's one of the better volleyball games. It's for PlayStation 2.
There are only 12 national teams: USA, Japan, China, Russia, Kenya, Korea (ROK), Taiwan (Chinese-Taipei), Netherlands, Poland, Italy, Cuba, Brazil. Only Japan's team has the correct roster, because it's a Japan-only game. All other countries you must put your own names.

like you said, some of the stats and names are similar to the "real" players so I used the above roster to guess which person was who.
you can change the names of the roster for each computer team. you can't fit all characters but u can still change them.

The few things I don't like about the animation:
1) The setting of the ball. It almost seems like the balls are literally spinning out of control when set; like a mishandle/throw
2) Setter during transition/rallies. Sometimes the setter looks like she's floating when running to set a spike
These are all miniscule and do not take away from the game. You might not even notice it during rallies.
YouLikeBeef 3 years ago
Yes, this game is Japan region NTSC-J. You will need a modified playstation 2, loader (swap disc, etc.), or a Japanese PS2.
I bought this game online at yesasia. play-asia also has this on their site. It's a must-have for any FIVB fan or volleyball fan. It's fun!
