@mikenike500 Well I recommend saving for a 6800/6900. I can run all my games on max graphics at 1900x1200. I can hit 1000fps on minecraft and 100+fps on SC2 ultra settings. So worth it, though I can see why you might not - they are quite pricey. But I have friends with machines <£500 (<$700) using 6800's and getting similar frame rates. Graphics is the most important thing after a 2.5ghz+ CPU and say 4gb RAM in my opinion. Definitely worth the saving :)

is a 12core, its a workstation not a pc, it perform far better than any i7, anyway the gpu is not the best on the market, he could change it with something better for gaming, and use it under windows, anyway would be a problem to use unsupported gpu under OSX
this just goes to show how bad apple is at making computers for gaming. I'm guessing this setup cost £4000-£6000 and for that money you could easily get triple the FPS on a windows computer and it would be able to get that on any games, not just ones that are 4 years old.

@wmedien I exhadurates a little more like 32 but if you got a 12 core system I assume you plan on utilizing all cores and if you want to do it well you need more ram at least .75 gb per core for any video compositing or 3d rendering

I was given a EVGA SR 2 Motherboard for free from a friend that works at nvidia so i bought 2 980x for 1k both, 12x4096 mb patriot ram for 600 bucks, 3 GTX 570 ( i got 2 for 600 and got the other free deal from newegg) an ultra x4 for 200 bucks, a tower for the motherboard 150 bucks and 2 liquid cooler system for 140 bucks, this system so far has ran every game on very high settings and i been getting 200+ FPS , i only spend about 2.7k on this machine and on 3Dmark 11 i get first place in all

mac pro uses xeon processor coz it support multi processor on a single motherboard, while i7 does not,but i7 is much faster and powerfull compare to a single processor xeon

is a 12core, its a workstation not a pc, it perform far better than any i7, anyway the gpu is not the best on the market, he could change it with something better for gaming, and use it under windows, anyway would be a problem to use unsupported gpu under OSX

this just goes to show how bad apple is at making computers for gaming. I'm guessing this setup cost £4000-£6000 and for that money you could easily get triple the FPS on a windows computer and it would be able to get that on any games, not just ones that are 4 years old.

Die hd 5870 ist ein sehr großer Flaschenhals bei einem 12 Kern Monster wie diesem. Würde eine gtx 590 reinbauen oder so. Sonst kannst du die Kraft der 12 kerne bei spielen wie crysis ja garnicht gescheit nutzen.

nice system. If you had replaced the hdd with ssd you could have got better performance. Im using 512 ssd on my macbook pro 17'' and have great performance on both rendering and general performance. Anyway nice system

@wmedien I exhadurates a little more like 32 but if you got a 12 core system I assume you plan on utilizing all cores and if you want to do it well you need more ram at least .75 gb per core for any video compositing or 3d rendering

I was given a EVGA SR 2 Motherboard for free from a friend that works at nvidia so i bought 2 980x for 1k both, 12x4096 mb patriot ram for 600 bucks, 3 GTX 570 ( i got 2 for 600 and got the other free deal from newegg) an ultra x4 for 200 bucks, a tower for the motherboard 150 bucks and 2 liquid cooler system for 140 bucks, this system so far has ran every game on very high settings and i been getting 200+ FPS , i only spend about 2.7k on this machine and on 3Dmark 11 i get first place in all

@nepalihercules Yes of course, i heard of hackintosh. But there are always problems with new hardwaresettings etc. no 100% hard and software compatibility. It never will work like the original Mac with OSX.
