HI I JUST BROUGHT A D70S. DONT KNOW HOW TO USE IT YET. TRYING TO DO PHOTOGRAPHY WORK. I SET ALL THE SETTINGS ON IT LIKE I SEEN ON THE VIDEO. WHAT TO KNOW IF U HAD A VIDEO ON TAKING PICS. SO I CAN START DOING PHOTOS FOR PEOPLE.
I just bought the D70s. I haven't taken any photos since my last camera D50 was stolen over three years ago. I have made lot's of excuses to not buy a new one. You convinced me to take up on photography again by showing that you don't need the latest and most expensive stuff to get started. The infinite learning possibilities await me. Thanks for the great introduction and tips. You rock!
@Piitsi It is a great camera and probably reminds you a lot of the D50. I still use my D70 (non S) from time to time, and I have a lot of fun with it! Glad that you picked one up and are shooting with it! :)
I have a D70s too. It's an excellent camera, especially for general portrait photography. I have less over exposure issues with this camera than my Nikon D700.
@Thokko I agree. The earlier DSLR's - D70/D50/D100 exposed conservatively. I shoot my D80 2/3rds of a stop underexposed and set my D300s down half a stop when in matrix metering. Center weighted metering is more consistent and less likely to overexpose, but the trusty D70s never had that problem!
today I bought d70 from ebay for 217$ with 2k counts.it beats the d40, d60 series in my view with more superior exposure and metering.remember higher mega pixel doesn't mean better image quality.it was 5 years ago when i said to myself i will buy this camera one day no matter what and look it still shines though. my first dslr after 5 years of waiting .
@pakistheshit The D70 has terrific exposure and metering. Cameras since (d80 especially) tend to overexpose without making inconvenient adjustments. The D70 gets exposure correct very consistently. It is a very capable camera, and it was not too many years ago that most of my pro work was with a D70. Those images are still in my portfolio and look as good in print as anything from my D300s, etc... Good camera, good price, good purchase. :)
@lepermessiah01 Note - I do not have Lightroom, but, generally speaking, Lightroom is best for adjustments that affect the entire image, while Photoshop is better suited for editing individual areas of the photo.

@elliot4009 Read the manual, shoot a ton of photos, and then read the manual again. I do this with all my new cameras :)
