This poem is from the tale of Aengus Óg and Caer Ibormeith. Aengus lived at Brú na Bóinne (New Grange in West Meath) and while out hunting fell asleep and dreamed of a beautiful young woman. For the next year and a day, he was consumed by the dream. He found Caer Ibormeith on Samhain Eve at Loch Béal Dragan in her swan form with thrice fifty swans, connected by silver chains round their necks, his test was to choose the right swan, which he did. The story is lovely, please look for it.
