By the way, dadgadjohn, I love your stuff. I'm just getting started watching the videos. For some strange reason I never have played in dadgad. It's beautiful. Thank you for the music.
I had ergonomic problems at first. My hand would cramp and I had to play the baritone with a capo on the 2nd fret. Leaning to the left while playing helps position my hand for F, F#, B bar chords. Light gauge tuned one whole note down sound good. Medium gauge tuned two notes down (Leo Kottke) sounds great but too difficult to play. The best, which I discovered recently, is medium gauge tuned three notes down: sounds incredibly awesome with a deep authoritative bass! That's my new favorite.
awesome, JUST PURE GOLD/12STRING/TABLA - i have bad right hand, am right handed too - bad accident 10 years ago severing ulna nerves, tendons arteries, shite like that, long story, but "have adapted my technique and play better by 1000%!!. never-minding the handicap.... no shit...exploring worlds of alternative tunings, tapping stabbing the harmonics, sorry, ya know what a mean. Anyway enough rambling, AWESOME STUFF, MORE PLEASE, defo inspiring tune.

Andy, your video and another video of a bass player inspired me to do this. Thank you very much for the discovery, fun and inspiration. I have more videos coming too!
YES! You commented on my magic guitar video and I must say I am SO impressed with this! Great work. That does look like Anthony Bourdain though! What great playing guys. Really fantastic sound.
Awesome. Great song, great film. Interesting AND beautiful to watch and hear. Hey, is that Anthony Bourdain of "No Reservations" there on bongos? If it isn't he's long lost kin of Mr. Bourdain!
Wow, those are wild waveforms. I can't see the waveforms when I'm playing, but I can feel the vibrations on my left fingers and hear all the different timbres, and when I pluck hard I can hear a pleasant "ring" or "zing" as the 12-string double strings touch each other, otherwise they buzz if they crash into each other or hit the fretboard.
my gut is that strings are in constant oscillation when plucked. Capturing them mid-oscillation (like a strobe) reveals this much like a photo of an athlete mid-stride.
Thanks. I still don't understand exactly how the high shutter speed camera captured the oscillations of the strings. Two theories: 1) the high speed shutter acts like a strobe or 2) the digital capture scan moves from one side to another and the vibration of the string is faster than the scan.
@44433391 I have used an iPhone, iPad and Canon 7d.

Very nice tune to listen to, and fascinating to watch.
According to Brian Applegate's website, his baritones have a 28" scale length. How is that to play on?

Can anyone clarify?
