And they are a part of the post-punk revival movement, along with The White Stripes, The Vines, and The Hives. They were called the "The" Bands. But just b/c they were part of this movement that doesn't mean that that's their genre; I would just classify them as rock

As for Nirvana I won't lie I'm not too knowledgeable about em, I grew up without listening to em.
