  • Best Backtrack ever :) LOVED IT. thanks

  • @nezraal Thanks!

  • This opened my guitar playing to a different level thanks for uploading this :D

  • @PGm0nkey Wow . . . that's really cool! That's exactly why I made these in the first place . . . to get my playing to the next level. Thanks!

    Jon

  • i played Dorian and it did sound great to me, actually i just picked out the guitar and that was one of the best jams i had in a while :D

  • @Pollutens Very cool! If ya gotta a chance upload something!

  • @Pollutens Keep up the jams!! Thanks . . .

  • nice

  • @Aleonguitar Thanks!

  • A Dorian sounds pretty misplaced here, i'd suggest using A mixolydian.

  • @Wahncynic Upload a contrast between the two! Everyone is debating this . . . I feel they both work.

    Thanks for checking it out!

  • @Wahncynic I agree A mixolydian is much much more suited!

  • great backing track.. one question what is the bass playing?? the root of the mode? also is there any difference between A dorian or G major?? harmonically speaking not in paper...

  • @felipescalador A dorian is the second mode of G major. They both share the same notes, G A B C D E F# and G

  • @georgeygeorgey1 "I Don't Play Lute, Missed All Lessons" - Ionian, Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Aeolian, Locrian. Hope that helps!

  • This is purely mixolydian mate...

  • @Lunaspice You can use Dorian as well, cause the chord are just powerchords.

  • Spank thru! Nirvana! Nice backing track!

  • @RiC0290 Yeah . . . someone else said the same thing!

  • this is more mixolydian than dorian

  • This is technically mixolydian. The first chord in the jam track is an A major, and the major 3rd implies Mixolydian. And you can use the flat 3rd and it sounds good because its a blues note. Nice track though.

  • @YanceySpecial True this is actually mixolydian

  • If you mix some pentatonics and the A Phrygian dominant scale and play them over the main theme of the backing track, you can get some really cool George Lynch-style phrasing going on...check it out.

  • @playloud247 Upload yourself jamming in "Lynch's style!" I'm really curious . . . Thanks for watching! Jon

  • awesome track! I've also just uploaded a Dorian backing track..real instruments as well :)

  • @QuistTV I checked it out . . . really cool! Thanks for commenting

  • @jonhallMusic cheers dude, keep up the great work!

  • dude i love this jam track.. ty for uploading :)

  • @kellyisvlogging no problem . . . and thanks!

  • haha this sounds exactly like the start of nirvana song "spank thru" have a listen

  • @TheBrownTies Your right! I checked it out . . . G, D, A. What's funny is, I've never heard that tune before. Anyway, thanks for the comment.

  • @TheBrownTies

i only know a few nirvana songs, but i thought that same. ...

    anyway...

    nice backing track

  • @hopfenkaltschale Thanks! Check out my other vids!

  • Nice track ;)

  • Hey man, thanks for the riff. It was not so esay in 80'. Now you go to youtube and you got all the band to play.

  • ??? this is A mixolydyan not exactly dorian...if you play dorian over it it's ok because it seems the minor pentatonic

  • @LazyHammond91 Thanks for the comment! I thought dorian worked pretty well. Maybe I'll create a new "dorian" tune that's more obvious sounding. Anyway, thanks for the input!

  • @jonhallMusic you're welcome.. p.s I love youtube backing tracks

  • @jonhallMusic

Actually . . . I was improvising going from A Dorian to the other modes surrounding (like E Aeolian, and B Phrygian )it and it sounded alright, then I read this and tried A Mixolydian to the modes surrounding it , and it works too. I'm confused :(

  • @jesusgnr12

A dorian, E aeolian and B phrygian is all the same notes. Kinda like the same as C major and A minor.

Its playing an i.e. B phrygian over a Bm track that makes it sound 'phrygian'.

  • @jesusgnr12 Hey, try this. Dorian is a minor mode. So try playing all minor modes(Aeolian, Dorian and Phrygian) over this, all with the A note as the root. Try it out, explore new sounds.

It's what Joe Satriani calls pitch axis.

But, if it sounds good, it is good, and you don't need any theory if it sounds good, because theory is here to tell you how to make it sound good. If it already does, you don't need theory!

    Rock on, man.

  • @FranLesPaul I totally agree with you! Thanks for the comment!

  • @LazyHammond91 That's a load of crap what you're saying there since Dorian has a flattened 3d and Mixolydian a major third.

  • @RsGhost1 I know that! can you please tell me where did I say wrong? I sayd that in this backing track is still nice to play dorian because it seems the minor pentatonic..and the minor pentatonic is often used on dominant chords if you don't play jazz or fusion.. do you think led zeppelin or hendrix played always mixolydyan on a dominant chord because of the major third? blues is based on the existence of minor pentatonics on dominant chords...don't mess with me dude :-) I am experienced.......

  • @LazyHammond91 Yes Dorian is fine to use.. you said it was A Mixolydian which is MAJOR where as this is a MINOR track. Yes Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin sometimes played minor pentatonic over Dominant chords, but NEVER over the root dominant chord. So if the progression is e.g. Gmaj7 - Cmaj7 - D7, he would use G Mixo over the G chord, and G Minor pentatonic over the C chord because it has an E note in it which is a minor third of G. You're not experienced enough yet, I'm afraid.

  • @RsGhost1 this is definitely not a "dorian" progression..it's a chord progression which has different changes but stays in one simple scale.. you can say what you want but this is not what is usually called "a dorian backing track"..and I suggest you to try to play Am on the first chords..I tjink it will sound not so good because in the backing there isn't any minor third in the chord

  • @LazyHammond91 I didn't say this was a Dorian backing track, I was merely saying that it is definitely not Mixolydian.

  • @LazyHammond91 Sorry Gmaj7 should be G7 and D7 should be Dm7, got my chords a bit mixed up there :P

  • Finally, found a video on which I was able to play the Dorian mode ! Thank you for sharing this !

  • @DrizztII Very cool! Thanks for checking it out. if you have a chance, upload a video of you jamming to it. Would appreciate if you could pass the word on about my backing tracks. Thanks again.

  • Great album. Definitely not for beginners. Thanks for putting it together. Rock on!

  • Finally! A great Dorian mode backing track. Will definitely buy your album.

  • @GetRoys

Thanks! Let me know what you think of it. What is your favorite style of backing track to solo to?
