That was a mother rabbit trying to get her teenage rabbit daughter to get up and do some bunny chores. like all teenagers young bunny was playing sick.. LOL
That rabbit seems pretty permanently disabled. It certainly wouldn't have healed overnight. Coyotes would have gotten him in a day or two. You should've euthanized it.
Because it was a hot sunny day, we put some shade up around the injured rabbit and placed water next to it. Later that afternoon, the rabbit was gone. Unfortunately, the next morning we found the remains of the rabbit at the back part of our yard. We think the helping rabbit had returned and pushed the injured one out into the sun while again attempting to get it up on its feet; and because of this action, the rabbit died from exposure to the sun.
@desertsamphotos if yu found his remains, and you werent watching it he probably was taken off as prey, as hes extremely easy prey now. But that was nice of you to give him water and shade, next time i reccommend just putting him in a cardboard box and dropping him off at the front steps of some animal clinic, and drive away, they won't sit and watch a animal slowly die, best scenario they will try and medicate him back to help, worst but still better then a slow death is they put him to sleep
Oh no! Why did you hurt the poor little rabbit? Please say it is still alive...

Im sorry to say but shooting it would have been the best bet. Animals like that dont recover from the looks of those injuries
