  • I just got my pf9 friday and broke it in with 107 rounds at the range. I always smack the mag in to make sure it sets properly. Very good gun and surprised with the accuracy out of the box, still have to do a few tweaks/mods to get it just right. Overall a great gun for the price.

  • The Kel-tecs are hard to beat for the money. If you get one shoot the heck out of it. its keeps getting better and better and so will you. Then go to the Ktog site and do a fluff & Buff to smooth things out a bit and you will have yourself on sweet little peice. I love the two I have and now I want the PF9 maybe set up with red dot sight on this one I have to see what price they are at Buds Gun Shop Enjoy

  • I have a p11 and im happy with it.

  • I preferred your video of nutnfancy's, and I usually enjoy theirs. I like it that you're not trying to talk bigger than you know, and have a quality camera man! Thanks. Now to go pick mine up...

  • Hey if you don't like your PF-9 I'd like to take it off you hands...??? are you interested in selling it?

  • I enjoyed this video.

  • you should get ahold of the twisted industries 22lr conversion to try out

  • pf9 vs lc9 thank about it!!!!

  • Mine has weak primer strikes. Every third round is a fail to fire. I've got to put the weak struck rounds in a glock of xd to fire them.

  • I must admit, these videos are interesting. 9mm handguns are nice but I want a good S&W 38 special and a Mossberg 500 for the collection. The Keltec's look okay, but not sure about how reliable it would be. Do they malfunction or jam at all? And do they collect a lot of residue?

  • @LibertarianIdeals Lol u got me beat I got mine around 250

  • I just got one brand new for $209

  • Ditto with the camera man qudos. he knows exactly when to focus and what to focus on.

  • Mine beat the tar out of me shot like a champ

  • I'm looking for a reliable handgun and I am a medium frame guy. Price range $300 or under. Not to worried about the caliper. Could you help?

  • I wish that I didn't wake up with shit all over the front of my boxers all the time!

  • I absolutely LOVE my PF9, I carry it every day. I've put over 500 rounds through it and have not had a single malfunction no matter what ammo I put through it. It's light, thin, and accurate. I highly reccomend it for concealed carry. And it's low cost is just icing on the cake.

  • Thats a great PF9 video. Its my main carry now

  • I wish I had clutter in my safe...

  • Kelly tec needs to go to the European mag release. I had the same prob with mine. Also sold it

  • I had the exact same problem with the mag dropping out--no matter what I did, it would still happen. Tried shooting the pistol with my thumbs far away from the release, same thing. Range officer tried it out, same thing.. Even after replacing the mag release with a metal one, same problem. So I ditched it.

  • this dude is a beast with his guns =0

  • I had a keltec p11 9mm and i didn't like it. I hated the trigger pull! It even dry fired before. If it had a glock trigger pull then it would be my perfect gun b/c the keltec size and looks i love it's just the trigger pull. is there any gun they make that is the keltec size but has a lighter trigger pull?

  • Time to shoot the P11 or the knock off Cobra Enterprise. Patriot 9mm

    I have the Patriot 9mm

It's much better now that I put on the pinky mag. ext. from Ket-Tec

  • if this were my gun, oh yea, it is my gun

  • At first I was a very bad shot with my new PF9, but a few hundred rounds later and I am dead on my targets I love my PF9 now.

  • I had the same problem shooting a friends PF9...my thumb kept hitting the mag release.

  • I owned a PF9 for a few months. Not a bad little gun, wouldnt feed larger grain 9mm reliably but thats expected from a gun this size (although I believe the Kahr's will feed the bigger ammo). It conceals great, but I just couldn't shoot it very well and didnt enjoy shooting it enough to practice that much with it. Sold it and got a snubbie that I'm much happier with

  • Awwww man! I wanted to see him shoot that little gun! Lol

  • Is there a difference between the mag that you put 6 rounds in compared to the one you put 7 in? I watched your vid on LC9 vs PF9 and you said it didnt wanna hold 7. Is the one holding 7 not from Kel-Tec?

  • I have a PF9 and I really do enjoy it. They are accurate for the class and have decent sights, and it is small but still handles well. I have medium hands, and I think that is the reason that it doesn't "rub me the wrong way" when I fire it. So, as always get out and try it on to see if it fits. I've seen that big hands do have issues w/kel-tec mag releases. My sausage finger dealer drops the mag EVERY time on the .380 just as soon as he picks it up. Does anybody know if there are night sights?

  • The biggest reasons I like your videos is that you're not afraid to show your misses and you dont brag about your hits. Great reviews.

  • You Can also get a "Knife type" clip to hook on to your belt. a Belt Clip if you will. Great weapon for self protection.

  • This video went viral on Portof

  • great video

  • i wanted to get one of these so thanks a ton for the video your so cool

  • Another awesome review!

  • sorry Imeant the kel-tec pf9....

  • have you done anymore shooting with the pm9? which if you have is prob a yes!! if so do still have the same probs?

  • do you still have your pm9 ?

  • @seenowayout, Oh yes, it's a favorite firearm.

  • @hickok45 I have a PF9 and really don't like the recoil and how it snaps. The webbing between my thumb and index finger gets sore after only 2 mags. How would you rate the recoil / comfort of the PM9 vs the PF9?

The purpose of this weapon would be deeper concealment than my XDM 3.8 Compact 9mm

Thanks for all your videos, I find them very helpful.

  • @hickok45 Glad to hear you still have the PM9, would love to see you shoot and discuss the CM9 someday though, for those of us who wont spend $600+ on a carry gun haha.

  • @hickok45 whats your recommendation, the PM9,CM9 or the PF 9? light CCW purpose. thanks and can you send me some Ammo?! LOL. It must get expensive to shoot as much as you do! Great videos and reviews. Ive bought a couple of guns thanks to you.

  • @MrTR3gunzz Sorry,I meant CW9.

  • @hickok45 Please do a review of the Diamondback DB9 !

  • Took mine to the range for the first time today and it did horrible. I only shot it 25 times because i was so frustrated with it. It failed to feed once and failed to eject 4 times. And it is giving problems when i put it back together, takedown pin has to be caught at the right spot and the barrel doesnt catch the frame when putting it back together (meaning the barrel travels all the way to the rear with the slide, and i dont understand why) - I put it down and shot my sr9 at the range

  • @richie2nice When you put the slide back on, gently slide it on until it stops then push down on the rear of the barrel slightly and the slide will go all the way to the rear. First time or two is tricky, but once you know how to do it....no problem. Some PF9's are ammo finicky. I use Federal 9BP hollow-points which mimic FMJ perfectly. Shot hundreds of these without failure and they shoot POA. Polish the feed ramp and make sure you have all upgrades (Call KT with Ser#)

  • I wonder if the P11 might give you fewer problems than the PF9...

  • when are u goinna do a review on the naa mini revolver?

  • Do a Hi-Point video!

  • Comment removed

  • I bought a PF9 a few weeks ago.......regrettable mistake ...I think Ill sell it for a CW9,I would have gladly paid more for a gun that operates 100% of the time and not 50% of the time..Stovepipes,dropped mags and FTFs are a Keltec nightmare....

  • @excelerater give it a 200 round break in if it brand new

  • @excelerater Check out the CM9 as well, especially if you are looking for more of a pocket gun, rather than a small IWB gun

They're a little more expensive, but definitely worth 9mm in a pocket sized gun.

  • @rifleslol got me a 442 yesterday....CM9 s nice but nothing is more reliable than a SW wheelgun plus I needed a Jframe to add to the heard..........Hickok should start a message board called the Hickok45.com gunners board so gunners can exchange notes and feedback..... just sayin

  • anyone who criticizes the accuracy of these pistols I assume have little experience with mouse guns- they are intended for worst case scenario close encounters- it is a extremely small and high powered fire-arm- the two do not an accurate weapon make

  • Accuracy doesn't seem so hot on the gun either. I've seen you miss more on this vid than on any of the others I've seen so far. (And you make good videos)

  • ooooops! u may need to puts some dirt work n to level things up on ur range. i no TN can get a little hilly ive seen you slide and stumble b4 safty 1rst as u well demonstrate good job

  • Thank you for all of your video's they are extremely helpful! I have had a PF9 for almost a year now and it is currently at Kel-Tec because of jam issues. It better be fixed right or I am going straight to the Glock 26.

  • in an effort to catch up to you I grabbed one today....I like it so far

  • so you think a person with smaller hands would enjoy the pf9? it's certainly inexpensive enough.

  • i know what he means shooting the pf9 hurts ur trigger finger.

  • whoever is holding the camera for you is good at doing the close-ups. It's really helpful in seeing the detail of the gun before going to the stores or gun shows. keep up the excellent videos!

  • @MrOutdoorsman247 Its his son John.

  • @MrOutdoorsman247 the camera man is Hickok45's son John

  • SAYS IN THE MANUAL NOT TO DRY FIRE. YOU COULD HURT THE FIRING PIN. JUST LETTING YOU KNOW.

  • @prankpuppet Because its a cheap crappy pistol like the DB9

  • Just bought one of these. Awesome looking gun and I can't wait to shoot it! This gun is definitely designed for smaller people. 5' 10" or under.

  • haha... "kel tec school" like your dry humor.

  • What's with the Best Russian Ladies ad Hickok?

  • this gun goes for like $250 in SoCal. Definitely going to get one

  • You know as far as LC9 vs PF9... I have shot both now and I love the Ruger and the kel-tec but for reliability out of the box Ruger takes it. Of course with a lil TLC and trial of ammo the kel-tec can be just as good. I Just bought my PF9 today 11/10/11 and put 100 rounds through it and had about 10 FTE "failure to eject" but this is a recent known issue so I called Kel-tec and they are sending me out a new eject spring as the original one had defeats but I did know this upon buying... Thanks

  • what a beast you are!!! hitting the gong on the first three out of four tries!!!

  • You are an asset to prospective gun owners everywhere.... EVERYWHERE....! Thank you a ton for your work, it is immensely informative and valuable.

  • damn, dude...

    You're a fucking stud

are you a pro shooter or something?

  • @hickok45 Why do you think it is popular as you say, but you would never use it.

  • @hungry945 , "popular" usually has little to do with quality.

  • @hickok45 I am sorry you you think I was questioning your review I wasn't! I was asking why you think it is so popular, not whether you thought it was quality.I respect your review I simply wanted you to help me understand why others like this gun and the other guns they make. I can see where Ruger likes them they copy there guns.

  • @hungry945, I understand. Price just makes a big difference. If somebody can make something cheap enough that works okay for most people, it will be very popular. Ruger does copy them, more or less, but that could be said about lots of guns and companies. The Rugers show more quality, but they cost more.

  • @hickok45 I thank you for your comments and not to beat a dead horse the only thing left to say is Quality is different for different people. I know of people that think any plastic gun is cheap and those that think that you must have an H&K or a Kimber. You have a great day and I respect what you have to say lets just say I don't know if I agree on this one.

  • Hey, Hickok - I know others may have already asked this, but are you planning on checking out a Kel-Tec P11? As much as I still have a lingering urge to someday get a PF9, LC9, or even a DB9 - y'know, just to have a super-small 9mm carry option - I can't help but love my own little P11 like none other. It's been jam-free for over 500 rounds, it's a breeze to carry, and it fills the hand a lot better than the PF9. If I lived closer, I'd by happy to loan ya' mine for a review. :-)

  • would you conceal carry the PF9 or the G26?

  • Keltec sells a trigger shoe for it's PF-9. Nutnfancy says he has to be careful not to press the magazine release too.

  • I bet you could hit something better with that gun if it didn't hurt your finger so bad.

  • On my first day at the range with my PF9, it jammed somewhat consistently on round 7 or 8 if i did not space out my shots more than 1 second+ when firing the entire magazine. Dont know if that was due to not having put any rounds through it, or an issue with my individual unit. Kel-Tek seems to be adamant about not trusting it until after 200+ rounds.

  • @abarlow1556 Both the PF-9 and Kahr PM-9 have a break in period. I believe it's mostly due to ow close the internal parts are. Plus with a small sub compact you really should put 100+ rounds down range anyway, just to get used to handling such a small gun.

  • Being left handed and with small hands when I hold the kel tec pf9 my hand doesn't touch the mag relese at all. I haven't shot my gun yet but i'm pretty sure that this is the gun I will carry with me when I have too. This fits in my pocket and you can't even tell that I have it on me :) God Bless!

  • i have a p11 kel tec and it is uncomfortable to shoot too but I have big hands and fits well. It was really cool talking to you at the gun show on Saturday

  • I have one of these, and had the EXACT same problem twice. Maybe it's just a "big hand" problem as I wear XL gloves. Did you find any remedy?

  • i have a smith & Wesson 40 ve and it hurts my finger at the range its like 11 lbs.

  • I'm surprised at the width issue on the Kel-Tec after having seen and heard what Nutnfancy had to say about. He carries it as his day gun but when you look at the Glock or the Ruger I know what I'd have. (Nutn' is great, I'm not having a dig!!)

  • I guess at least one good thing came out of being left handed when it comes to firearms for me the magazine release isn't a problem at all.lol

  • why did you say it hurts your finger at the benigining

  • @shootcentermass what are you talking about?I didn't see him hit a chipmunk.

  • What I would do to have that setup in my backyard... effin' California.

  • you went to Cal Tec?

  • Well great review, newer models of this firearm do not have this problem anymore. I love it and whenever I have a problem I live right down the road from where they make them and their customer service is amazing.

  • Great review! I just picked one up, a little worried about the low-cap mag but happy with the other awesome features! Thanks again. Semper fi!

  • I HAVE A PF 9 GOOD GUN BUT THEY NEED MORE AMMO CAPACITY IN THE CLIPS AN DEF GET A TRIGGER SHOE

  • @brianv14087 This week Kel tec has a plus one mag base extension for sale.

  • nicely done, I always enjoy your videos. So - can you reach out and touch that gong with the little j-frame that was on the table? I would have liked to see you squeeze off a few rounds with that revolver just for fun.

keep on rocking in the free world.

    KG

  • @kgradio Check out his video on the S&W 642.

  • Hi, I'm a big fan of your videos. Have you consider making a video comparison of the pf9 vs pt709 vs lc9 and others in the same category?

  • Kel-Tec will send you a replacement spring for the mag release. That will solve that problem. The tip of the trigger curves forward so as to dig into your finger. Same thing happened to me. There are two fixes. Heat shrink tubing on the trigger. I have done that, and no more pain with trigger finger. Other fix is to heat trigger, and straighten it out. The little thing kicks like a mule, but I’ve had zero malfunctions with mine.

  • i mean for 290 i think its a great deal and i heard its good what u think overall?

  • hey hickok im actually going next week to get 1 of these do u think its a good reliable little gun?

  • Hi Hickock, Gymowner here.

I just have to say I have one for 5 years, it suprised me that it actually fired when I looked at the way it was made. But just as I started to say well, I guess I was wrong about it. It went to the range one day and every other shot was am ftf. Feeding problem you name it. I guess it wore out after 100 -200 rounds. Now I went far above the call of duty cleaning and deburring etc to where it felt like a real gun. Then I see some don't fire 147 grain rounds.Nuff said

  • you are my go to guy for my gun information. You sir inspire me to buy a glock 27 as my first handgun.

  • Do you think you could do a review on the Bersa thunder 9mm compact pro.

  • fanger lol

  • how is it compared to the lc9. would you rather have a lc9 or the keltecpf9 for cc?

  • You have to get your hands on the diamondback db9. It's awesome. I have 250 problem free rounds through mine using 6 different ammo brands.

  • so i take it you don't like the grip either? i found it to be sharp and uncomfortable on mine. but it was quickly fixed with a houge handall now it comfy and my ham hocks can get a good grip on it.Also i heard something about the older models having a plastic mag release was this one plastic?

  • I guess it's the luck of the draw for the mag catch, luckily I don't have that problem and the gun is accurate enough for it's purpose. Much rather shoot a full size pistol cause these PF9's have a lot of flip to them.

  • Bet hickock trashed this gun after the vid.

  • diesel power. the finger extension is a nice addition but the ridge on the inside of the grip is rigid and can blister the hell out of your pinky. i just took a small file and filed the ridge smooth

  • my mag keeps coming out of my pf9 any takers?

  • @hahahaha1522 its prolly the mag catch, happened to my friends. He talked to kel-tec they sent him the pieces in a couple days and now its better

  • i've got the newest version of this gun. i've put a little over 500 rounds through it with no issues. accuracy was bad at first, but i just needed to work on my form a little, this gun takes some practice no matter how good a shot you are with any other gun. the mag followers have been redesigned, along with the mag release. i need to duracoat mine as the slide rusted a bit after getting caught in some rain.

  • since you have that problem with it, my question is how well does company seem to help. Like would they allow it to be sent back for that reason to get it fixed?

  • Its a goon gun for carry and the price, I would never choose one as my main handgun though.

  • My P3AT would hurt my trigger finger until I polished up the inside of the trigger guard, and slightly rounded the tip of the trigger. The rough texture, parting line flash, and sharp trigger tip would pinch my finger during recoil.

  • what did you think about the finger extension they send for the magazine for this gun?

  • Nutnfancy said in his review he had the same problem, releasing the mag without meaning to, he said it was his thumb placement, so he train with his thumb sightly higher and he hasnt had a problem since then

  • Not a bad cheap carry but the grip comments are interesting

  • nice one

  • I worry about my other half, she lives in a bad area on a dark street, even I get the creeps there at night.

A flat 9mm makes sense, (more velocity than a snubnose) then there's the light rail, what do you guys recommend? (Glock is too fat)

  • @dukenukemthreed if u can carry the g26 or g27 comfortably, get the glock. u won't be disappointed...i've heard. i got a g19 and later regretted it, it's huge to carry day in and day out. i wish i had bought a g26. i'm 5'10'' 170 pounds and can only carry the g19 appendix carry or maybe 4 o'clock position with only moderate discomfort.

  • @paikmendez

Actually thinking about a glock 30 in .45 too, ARGH! so many choices!

  • @paikmendez I'm the same dimensions and have the same feelings on this issue. Take paik's advise!!

  • I just subscibed and love all your videos...thanks. Hey, would love to hear your opinion or see a video on the Walther PPK or Walther PPK/S. I have big hands, and the Walther PPK/S with the pinky ext. fits great. I love it, for my conceal carry. Would love to see or get thoughts on the Walther PPK/S. Thank you.

  • hey hickok did you get rid of this one?

  • @All3nTyl3r , I still have it; I just don't really like it all that much, plus I have not replaced the magazine release. I don't know if that will solve the problem or not, but I'll maybe eventually get it replaced. The directions Kel-Tech sent me are pretty lame; can't even read them.

  • @hickok45 Would you be interested in selling it? Possibly autographed? :)

  • @hickok45 KTOG.org has a step by step with pictures.

  • @hickok45 You may want to look into the p11 from KelTec, its larger capacity and marginally thicker. I find it easier to grip than the pf9. It does sport a heavy trigger but i like it.

  • @hickok45 Hey Hey Hickok, How goes it? Looking into purchasing the PF 9, my main concern through tons of reviews is that magazine release. However, I am a lefty. From your experience with PF 9 do think that would be an issue for us lefty's?

  • Dont mean to complain but..You are not supposed to dry fire a PF-9. The pin slams against the "frankenbolt" on the side. It will mash the "bolt" and the firing pin. Im glad you did a review on the pf9. It is the one I carry most often. Fun little gun, but about 150 rounds is all the fun I can take..Ouch

  • @rb2112002 He's said millions of times before that if any of his firearms can't handle being dry fired, they're not worthy for him to keep

  • @ChiefsFan581 And your point is?

  • @rb2112002 My point is he's addressed this issue in a video. Boo hoo, he may have hurt a cheap Kel Tec.

  • @ChiefsFan581 I was just making an observation. He shoots a lot of guns, I though that maybe he missed that part in the instructions. I'm extremely sorry if my comment bothered you that much. I didn't realize you were so sensitive.

  • @rb2112002 Well you should think more next time. I cried for 3 hours :(

    jk :)

  • @ChiefsFan581 Yea, I'm heartless. lol. I love my PF9, I just don't dry fire it.

  • @ChiefsFan581 What kind of cheap gun do you carry?

  • Your woods look like my woods, NC? Love the vids, like your style, keep it up brother

  • @adambox14 Tennessee

  • You gotta replace the mag release with a metal one. ANd unless they changed the mag followers since a couple of years ago, you will soon start to see that the slide release will not engage it all the time.

  • 80 yard gong with a PF9..... This is why Hickock45 is Hickock45. Never brags about his background/skill/experience. He lets his shooting do the talking.

  • I hope that one i day ill be able to talk about my gun safe, as you do yours.

  • I have one of these I carry daily. It does tangle the fanger. I'm thinking about the Kel-Tec trigger shoe that's for the P11 to see if it helps. And it does have massive recoil but I love mine.

    I really enjoy your videos!

  • I too had issues on my magazine dropping out. I called Keltec and they sent me a new magazine catch. They also sent me a slide lock because my slide would stop locking back. See my video for my brief review.

  • I own one of these as well and i am very impressed with their accuracy. This thing kicks like a mule with the worst recoil ive felt. I just added a hogue handall jr grip to see if that would improve comfort and im having the same issue where the trigger guard bites my trigger finger. Im thinking of buyng the laser they have for it to add some weight to the front end to see if that helps

  • I've had the same problem with the magazine on my keltec 32acp. The release gets pressed in my pocket and releases all the time. It needs to use a heel-catch type magazine retention

  • Nice range.

  • As you pointed out, the trigger pinches your finger. Overall, it seems cheaply made. About the only good to say about it is it's size.

I'm going with a Kahr ASAP.

  • I shot one of these at the range the other day and it was quite the handful. Definitely needed a Talon grip to help make it manageable. I found myself squeezing it as hard as possible just to keep it from sliding around in my hand. lol

  • I appreciate your candid assessment of the Kel-Tec. It's a very helpful video.

    Best.

  • I love your videos. Unfortunately, my brand new Kel Tec PF9 fired on the first two rounds and FTF after that. I was using American eagle FMJ 115 grain ammo. I did not polish and buff because I believe that the manufacturer should handle this problem. I immediately took it back to the store in which I brought it and they gave me full value and I brought a XD subcompact 9MM which worked flawlessly. First gun I ever owned that did not work out of the box.

  • my keltec pf9 did tahe mag ejection as well called keltec and they sent me a new grip and everything

  • pf9 or lc9???? which one do you think feels better to shoot

  • is the pf9 rated for +p

  • @TheDuncdunc it can...but kel-tec doesn't recommend it, because it may wear it out sooner and void it's life expectancy...so standard pressure hp rounds will be better...but it can use +p so long as u aren't shooting them all the time in the gun.

  • @TheDuncdunc Doesn't even matter since many ballistics tests show the +P is very similar in comparison to standard ammo making it moot. Also Kel Tec does not recommend shooting a lot of +P ammo.

  • You have ridiculous knowledge of firearms lol..I was looking to get this gun as a small concealed carry instead of a Ruger LCP or the Bodyguard 380 I have good size hands do you think this would be a better choice over those? Thanks

  • Please do TT33 video. Its a classic Russian sidearm, and it's cheap ($200) and powerful.

The 7.62x25mm round can go through armor and helmets, which is impressive for being an old cartridge. It's like the 5.7s grandpa

  • hickok45 i know your a great shooter!!! but i seen you miss a few times, was it the kel tec? im not picking, just asking. i carry a glock 23 but want a 9, i just cant decide what kind.
