Looks great, how does this method work when a large body of fast moving water is thrown at it?

I'm not sure if I understand your question exactly, but if you want to make a very fast moving river, I think this kind of mixing of the waves will still work. Of course you will need to add some white stuff to it and perhaps some splashes when the water hits a big rock and things alike.
