i love fans,i had a furnice blower fan,i wish i knew where you at so i would had gave you mine, but i still no longer have it,i donate it to the habitat for humilaty restore.
the tool trucks sell a fan called the blue blower for like $150. or more for a shop fan ... looks like i'll be salvaging some blower motors ... lol just picked up some nice gm alternator fan for my shop
I need an old furnace blower for my new shop for heat removal (no sense in A/C since I work with the door open) so I have a friend in HVAC who's going to let me know next tear out he does. If it ends up with an induction motor I can even vent fumes from staining, varnishing and painting with it. You're a little weird Bill but arent we all!!!
Rmember that's "weird" in a good way. Have to be careful with motors marked sealed - some are sealed bearings, others are closed totally. Yeah he'll find me something, some day. Trying to finish the last of the exterior paint while we still have upper 60's so that's a project for later anyway. Gonna give an amateur radio license a shot next month too, havent been a licensed ham since the mid 70's and now no code test.
If I'm going to put a motor into a nasty job, I look for "explosion proof" units. Most of those appear to be almost (excuse the pun, it's not intended) bombproof.
Further proof that I don't know much about ham radio--I thought that once licensed, you always were licensed. I've got friends that want me to get into it, but I haven't had the desire to do so...not that it would be interesting, it's another project when I have too many now.
When I worked munitions in the AF we had everything electrical in explosion proof housings - even the phone in the work bay. Our missiles had solid sealed propellant but the bay was previously an Atlas booster bay at one site and the others were upgraded after changes to regulations. Nice thing is explosion proof light fixtures also have a nice cage around the "jelly jar" so hard to damage - but hard to find also. Nope ham radio licenses expire, most in 10 yrs now including the vanity callsigns
I too have too many projects but even if I dont go the expense of a radio, you can use the internet and transmit via other radios set for this purpose (echolink) and it's something to fill those project-less winter evenings - plus if you are into electronics and communications it's another way to bring in repair work (fellow hams) and the license looks good on a resume for some jobs (it always has shown that a person has determination to get something on their own & the background needed to pass
I thought that perhaps the stove was being referred to as a furnace. Which it kinda sorta could be, in a roudabout way. Like if I put the fan in front of the warmed up oven. (Yes, I'll stop now.)
Early 70s is my guess. I'd like to find one for my own house, when I get around to building it. Using this stove has spoiled me rotten and the oh-so-common stove with a single oven and room on the cooktop for only the burners will not cut it.
MOAR FANS MOAR FANS!!!

A *little* weird? Clearly I am not trying hard enough.
I think you'd want a sealed motor (and there are some out there in some HVAC systems) to reduce the risk of a flare-up.

Bill mate - a word of advice from a distant youtube pal. You need to clean that oven!
scarlebloke 2 years ago
Don't worry, I've got some oven cleaner! And contrary to all indications in this video, I do know how to use it.
I still need to find the hour or two it will take to do the job. Maybe I can buy a few hours at the store? :-)
