That graphic made from the Tube logo is created in the same style as those 'Follows shortly' break cards Channel 4 showed at that time when there weren't enough ads to fill the break. They played some of the testcard music and other library music in the background. They're pretty rare though now as most examples taped will have been wiped.
Keith Harrison is the Channel 4 announcer. They seem to have been given the wrong ITV Christmas promo, because this one says at the end 'here on ITV' - whoops!
Willie Rushton is in the ad for Naughty French Wine (what a depressing title/concept) and Alan Freeman voices for the 'Unforgettable' album (this came out of a series shown on Channel 4 in its early days - it had previously been shown on ITV, but lobbying from the established companies took it off the air because it was made by an independent company, the situation C4 was largely set up to reverse).
I assume this was recorded in the Granada region - certainly all your other stuff was.
Monday 20th December 1982 at 11.00 pm. The 'Whatever You Want' ending at the start was about community radio (a concept only now coming to fruition 25 years later, which says a lot about the British state) and earlier that evening Paul Johnson had made a pro-Thatcher contribution to the 'Opinions' series (though I doubt the Tory press, then going through a hysterical anti-C4 phase, noticed that).
You're stuff is superb quality.
How did you keep them in such good nick?

Is that Michael Aspel doing VO for the ITV xmas progs? He doesn't be much continuity work.

Sounds like Charles Foster voicing the Louis Gross advert.

89 squid for a Crombie coat??? Sounds expensive by 1982 standards.

Many thanks Robin. Yes, it was the Granada region. Recorded from the Winter Hill TX.
There's now two links to the earlier 'Whatever You Want' programme in the 'About this video'
box at the right hand side of this page.
