Just like peeps stated. Everyone starts out as a toy. What elevates you from that status is knowing the game as well as skills. I see writers that have been getting up for years and still are stuck in toy status because they never learn the game and don't give respect or perfected their style.

Learning, perfecting your style, getting up and understanding the game is how you break out of that. The most important lesson is do it for yourself. Respect from your peers will come after that.
