Wait a minute...he said back in the Behind the GLEE for "The Rhodes Not Taken" When Kristen Chenowith sang, he was actually crying, not as Kurt, but because he was so awestruck. So that's a BIT more recently(I think), but yeah, it's still been a while.

@shmotownlola06 Yes, but by "on camera" people tend to mean "FOR the camera" as in, intentionally for the show/movie, not because they ACTUALLY got emotional while the camera was on them. In other words, it still counts as him actually crying.

@rentheadangelcollins I think what he means when he says that he has not cried in years, is that he hasn't broken down and cried or sobbed. We all get a little teary eyed occasionally, but not often do we really cry. Also his not being able to cry on demand is that he needs to be able to react to what's going on for his character in the script and to tap into his emotions for those scenes. Hence he is able to give such convincing and 'real' performances. Brilliant actor!

@stellamarney I can agree with that then. Though, he was seriously streaming tears, but I kinda recently thought of it more as he doesn't cry out of sorrow often. When something amazing happens to him, that may be a different story. I mean, for me, if I met him, or (had I gotten the chance while he was alive) Heath Ledger, I'd cry too, but because of my respect for them, and my excitement to meet them, and obviously, not because I was upset for whatever reason.

@rentheadangelcollins The first few episodes (Josh Sussman said all the 13 episodes up to sectionals) were filmed prior to the show started airing in September 2009. Meaning it would've been May or June 2009 that The Rhodes Not Taken was filmed. I vaguely remember Chris mentioning that he cried on several occasions when he got Glee and shortly after (don't remember the specifics). But that was all still in '09, when he was just beginning to adjust to his new lifestyle and new-found fame.

@rentheadangelcollins And I agree that he most probably means he doesn't cry out of sadness or sorrow, i.e. that it's not a coping mechanism he usually uses when things get tough. Just as most guys in our society still don't in this day and age.

@Aalyandra Well, for him, I don't think it's because he's a guy. I lived a VERY similar life to the one he speaks of in interviews, and I can give you my guess that it's more because his years of being bullied in school forced him to toughen up. For me, it's certainly hard to cry for most any reason if I'm upset. Last time I legitimately cried(meaning what we're assuming he means now) was probably three years ago. I just don't think of that as the only legit cry, hence my first post.

@rentheadangelcollins Yeah , I remembered that one... and it inspired the film makers to nake a shot of Kurt crying at Kristen Chenoweth's character performance... but then again, it was more tears of happiness... not really tears of sadness...
