  • I really like this man..

I've been listening to his songs for a few weeks now and he was really talented. Although I adore Ray Charles version of this...this is quite different and I dig it!

  • When you love a song as much as you love "I can't stop loving you" you now can look all over YOUTUBE for the best version. I just found it.

  • Saw Don in London England he was one of the greates song writer every and a great singer

  • Ein wunderschöne Lied -er kann so schön siengen -genze Haut-.danke für laden mit LG.

  • @gone, please remember the quotes around the "Gentleman". The sidemen he repeatedly drove away hung it on his name with irony and sarcasm.

  • and Don makes the lyrics make sense. The Ray Charles "of" (the whole lonesome time) may scan better, but it don't belong.

  • Roy Orbison also does a great version. With a wonderful last line.

  • Ray Charles had the biggest hit, however, Don Gibson, {who wrote this and many other great songs} also does a brill version. Still I have to agree with "palledrengens" Even though Don Gibson is one of my all time favourite singer/songwriters. Gentleman Jim Reeves, version, the singer with the "velvet voice" has got to be the greatest, EVER....

  • No matter who wrote it, nobody does it more smooth than the velvet voice himself mr Jim Reeves.....!

  • beautiful.

  • do you have the song it's a long long way to georgia by don gibson?

  • R.I.P Auntie Shirley. This song will always remind me of you and Uncle Cecil. I hope you're together again, love you <3

  • Brings out good memories of my own dad. He did love good radio and so do I.

  • Ray Charles, Connie Francis, and others covered this record. But Don Gibson sang it the way the heart wanted to hear it.

  • Now this is a true country song. It has that "homely" feeling.

  • Don Gibson wrote this, and the way he does it is the BEST!!!

  • What an awesome singer.....been a big fan for many many years.

  • Wow. This is amazing.

  • this are still being played here in my country every sunday ...i think i grew up hearing this song

  • This is no his (Don Gibson) original version, shame on you right2mike

  • Why can't I find "A Legend in my Time" by Don Gibson on YouTube? the ones I find are covers and they SUCK.

  • This song is fantastic

  • This is not Don Gibson's original 1958 hit single version, which was much better, IMHO. This is the man who wrote this great song, and as much as I love Don Gibson's talents, I think Ray Charles's 1962 monster hit version of this song is one of the greatest records ever made.

  • LUV THIS MAN AND HIS MUSIC.THIS IS MY FAVORITE SONG BY

  • ONe of the best versions of the song.

  • Don said he wrote this song and "OH LONESOME ME", the same day in a trailer

park off Clinton Highway in Knoxville, Tennessee. Whatever, both are great

songs with many covers by other artist. Thanks for sharin'.

  • holy crap. i heard this same version on the radio this morning.

  • This man was great! This song, that he wrote, was written in a trailer park in Knoxville, TN. It is the most recorded country music song of all time. Don Gibson lived through alot of heartache and wrote about it. He is and was amazing!

  • My favourite version.x

  • tradotta anche in italiano cantata da jon foster col titolo "se devo vivere" preferisco questa versione originale

  • I Can't Stop Loving You is one great song. From what I understand, Don Gibson wrote this song, in a trailer in Oklahoma in 1957. He was one great songwriter.

  • Great version!

  • So Beautiful its a shame that every JACKASS that can BRAY take your song and got more hits esp the one with a half Mil Anyhow some of us know better DON only Marty Robbins Comp Hes 1 UR 2

  • Great acoustic version. My favorite version as it's the one I grew up hearing (my dad was a big Don Gibson fan).

There's never been a better writer of country, country/pop

than Don Gibson. If only we could hear songs like this on terrestrial radio today. Not that crap they call country.

  • @3213212321321

nice one,it will be no better when,if ever,we go digital.ray

  • Whichever version is "best," this guy wrote it.

  • Check out the Ray Charles version.

  • That is the second best version.

  • @uncletbone Yes, the Ray Charles's version is THE best.

  • Hmmm very nice love song! a little bit before my time, but I just LOVE it!!! Hmmm gives me a warm heart, thanks for the track.

  • The album also features the fabulous guitar of Harold Bradley, among others. Lots of three-part guitar harmony, as popularized by Jerry Reed and others.

  • its great

  • Thank U

  • I actually bought this album (on vinyl) when it was first realeased around 1962 (in the U.K.), though a bit disappointed (at the time)that some tracks were re-recordings, they definitely stand up as excellent recordings in their own right.

Please post some more tracks as my vinyl copy is a bit scratched!

  • bankerbertha: it's true that many were re-recordings, but i love the acoustic treatment he gave his old standards on this album. and i'll gladly put up more--which ones are your favorites?

  • @right2mike please just put them all up!

  • @right2mike 2 years later, and I reply! I noticed you uploaded Oh Such a Stranger (another goodie). Thank you. As far as I'm concerned you can upload the whole album!
