My Dads always watching those cars on TV and hes like, nobody whos never been there and watches on TV don't even know how loud that really is. My Grandpa Lou Sattelmaier who just past away was in the sonic thunder jet funny car. My Dad was by the starting line checking the tires most of the time!

@2009clueless These cars run on a mix of nitromethane and methanol, or straight methanol, which is actually pretty clean burning.
4CH3NO2 + 3O2 → 4CO2 + 6H2O + 2N2
2 CH3OH + 3 O2 → 2 CO2 + 4 H2O
What this means? It all just makes water, some carbon dioxide, and nitrogen. Which is actually pretty damn green compared to gasoline and C10.

nothing like a hemi. all top fuel and funny cars are powered by a hemi. there aint no ford or gm in funny cars. they are all mopar powered. ford cant touch em.

There ain't no "chrysler" in these cars either. Its just a block/heads that are cast by a company that sells a setup that happens to have a hemi-spherical combustion chamber.
