Actually to see a bug in the Pacific was quite rare. According to my grandfather, it was mostly Zeros and Karman Ghias and BMWs they fought flying P-38s, P-39's, P-47's, and Dodge trucks.

Thre bug bomb was a joint development venture by the Axis in WWII. the idea was that the bug bombs could be loaded onto large transport air craft and rolled out over a target with no special modifacations to the transport aircraft in emergency situations. Germany was having accuracy problem until the Japanese suggested using people in the drivers seat rather than unmanned as the Germans were trying. After the Germans couldn't find voulemteers to pilot them they embarked on the V1 , V2 programs

Yes that's right: Waffe means weapon and Volk means people. this is of course a joke. There where no flying Beetles. The Beetles or Bugs are made by VOLKSwagen (Poeples car)and where a design by Ferdinant Porsche to create a car affordable for 1000 Reichsmark for every german. The original project was called KDF wagen (Kraft durch Freud - Power from fun) and luftWAFFE (German Air force) some talented jokers put these videos together.
