  • Looks excellent, and pseudo 3d with sfx its just brilliant!

  • That is some amazing sound effects for such an old game. I am impressed. I also thought the pixels would be static but the fire movement is amazing!

  • Sweet video! How did you create it? Are you using an emulator and if so which one and where do you get the disc images??

  • i remember when i died i kept respawning in the mountains without gear to get me off. then id have to reboot the whole damn thing

  • I was mesmerized by this game when I was a kid. The code wheel. The cover art, which was some of the best on a game of that time ever. The overland and dungeon crawls, the great sounds! WAY ahead of its time thanks for bringing this back to me!

  • Gotta love playing Stones of Wisdom with the emulator...you can't lose since you can save your state and then go back. This way you know what is going to be rolled and just how many of each die there is. This also worked great for gamblng and the intelligence increasing game in Legend of Blacksilver too.

  • Amazing! I was in love with this game as a child. My good old C-128 :) (pops upgraded hah) I'd spend hours with this game, best RPG I ever played. To this day I can still remember squishing through the swamps and the first time I was able to get the lowly bladed staffr off the wall in the museum, I thought I was invincible! Thanks for posting this, wonderful wonderful memories!

  • MY favorie game of all time. I wish there was a way to still play it !

  • Me too if anyone knows of a way to play it online or a good emulator version of it (Minus the whole wheel code) feel free to share

  • You can find the code wheel fairly easily, and I've got a spreadsheet saved that details the codes. I'd be happy to send it.

  • Ahhh yes... one of my favorites as well. I stayed up many a night playing this one. I did end up finishing it. Took a while though.

  • One of my favorite games of ALL time.. never finished it though. :(

  • I must play this now.

  • Anyone have the ending posted?

  • Legend of Blacksilver was my first RPG ever. Actually, I think it was my first computer game ever. I'd later picked up its predecessor, Legacy of the Ancients (which was apparently a bit more well-known).

  • I loved this game - played it back in the 80s on a Commodore 64 - it's one of the few games that I can get to work perfectly on my CCS64 emulator :)

  • I'm actually a bit surprised that this is one of the FEW you can get working... this one is rather tricky because (at least with most of the copies I've seen), it requires PCLOAD9 to be loaded as a separate image or it won't boot properly. Either the first disk image is corrupt, or the emulators just don't seem to read it correctly... don't quite know why!

  • No I can get a lot of other games to work, but for whatever reason this one is the most stable. That's what I mean by working "perfectly". I dont know what you mean by PCLOAD9 - I use CCS64 as my emulator and I found a source for .c64 disk images. I've even managed to start a new game and save it - it's just like having a C-64 again :) Great game - I like how it goes from map (top) view to 3D dungeon view - a lot of cool aspects to a RPG for its time.

  • Where do you get a C64 emulator? I used to love to play this game as a kid.

  • Kick ass! Someone else besides me that ever played this extremly underrated game.

  • This was actually one of the twin's and my favorite games. One of us would handle the code disk and take notes (how much gold to earn to stock up on supplies, maps, what coins we had) while the other handled the controls. I've whipped up my own guide for this if anyone wants it.

  • Cool! Thanks for posting...

  • This is the very first computer RPG I ever played. I was about eight years old when this came out, and I remember playing it with my father. Ever since then, I've been an avid RPG player, but the only game I've ever enjoyed as much as this one is its sequel, Legend Of Blacksilver. I highly recommend both of these!!! (they are for Commodore 64 for those who don't know).

  • To this day Legacy of the Ancients stand out in my mind as one of my all time favorite role playing games. I just loved the 10 mintue ending that chronicles your entire quest. It was a nice change from the usual "THE END" at the end of a game. Blacksilver rocked too.
