Hey KRAFTWERK FANS! The german musican Sabrina Setlur has stolen a sample of 'Metal On Metal' (without any authority from Kraftwerk). The german law has to entitle to do this. Search "Sabrina Setlur nur mir" on YouTube, watch this video and complain there! (Sorry for my bad english)
They were so progressive. The Song is about FBI, CIA and german BKA are collecting our data, x-ray our live.
No question about the music, they made the way free for Depeche Mode, Techno, even people like N.E.R.D. or just Metallica. They all mention Kraftwerk as a source of inspiration.

I can understand Kraftewerk's place in history as visionaries but unfortunately their music is awful. I've been trying to get into it because I know they are important figures but I absolutely hate it. No soul or emotion whatsoever. my personal opinion. sorry. I there such a song by them? One that is actually good... please indicate me.
Well, depends on your taste. It seems like you are into romantic stuff. I would recommend the original versions of Computer Love, Radio-Activity, the Telephone-Call, Radioland, Franz Schubert, Europe Endless, Kometenmelodie II, Hall of Mirrors and Neon-Lights ( live from Minimum-Maximum )
But this is a video from the past! Does that mean that all of today`s music sounds like this? Well, at least Kraftwerk has been ripped off a million times and contemporary music would sound totally different without them.
Well speeded up.....it is prob. Kraftwerk having a live band joke (adrenaline speeds you up whenever you play, I am a drummer I know that!) for those of you yet to find it look at 'heimcomputer' on Youtube for Kraftwerk 81.... more stuff from the classic tour
I remember when this song became popular out here in L.A. I was like 11 or 12 yrs old and I loooooved to poplock to this song ! I heard this on a college underground radio station the other day and had to look it up. Thanks for the memories!
Unfortunately, video above is the only video from 1981 tour. In original size it lasts about half an hour. It`s record from Vienna, 17th or 21th of November.
I loved that old funky stage. Saw them in Bremen, Germany in December 1981 on that tour. Got to the show as "Nummern" was playing; happy to see that I probably got in just moments after they'd started playing. It was a small club, maybe 400-500 people. Really cool show.
To make a song about numbers and that sounds so cool..only the masters of Techno could do that. Wished I had seen this concert, saw the '91 and '05 show. Actually still got the concert T-shirts of the '91 show...
When people from the past come into the 1980's via a Time Machine, they look at some video like this, get freaked out and go back to th3 1800's/= or earlier.
Absolutely brilliant!! They practically have their entire studio on stage!! It looks like the inside of a space shuttle! Nowadays they only have laptop computers and most of the music is pre-programmed so not much live playing
This is not true they have as much preprogrammed as they did in this video. I have seen them live in both there old "space shuttle" set up and the laptop set up and they play all the songs and (except "we are the robots") have lots of control over the loops and sequences they have preprogrammed. Go see them live and you will see.....
I love this live version. Its blisteringly raw. The sounds are so satisfying. Those punchy squelching drums are like canon balls fired into mud. Some great comments. Kraftwerk need to be judged in the context of where music was at the time and what they produced.
I don't listen to them as often as I used to but they were pioneers, produced great music, and countless bands have been influenced by them.
