I tour constantly and my home are hotel rooms. Right now I'm dragging around a pair of Yamaha HS80. I have no way to go to a shop and compare sound between the two brands. How would you say they compare (if you ever had the chance to listen to Yamahas like the ones I have), specially the low end. Cheers to you or anybody with an insight.
@MrRenealexis pretty much these are not so heavy on the bass side, I like to say these monitors are perfect because they do not tend to be heavy in none of the frequency range, they are pretty neutral, but when it comes to EQ and Levels, to know where your instrument sounds are landing they are dead on good. The yahama are really good also but for my taste they tend to be bassy Although the Genelec takes time to get use to also but that comes within the more times you use them.
I produce Dance orientated music, alot of it bass heavy, also do orchestral productions, would these monitors fit the bill? My room is quite small, like 2x3.5 metres, thinking of the 8020b's...whats the bass like??
@musicman2047 the bass is good but if you want very low heavy bass I would recommend getting a subwoofer the 7 series one I think there is a 7040 sub bass, but as what I listen in the range with out ithe sub woofer they are pretty good it has a lot of bass but if you want to have even crisper bass with some high frequency you would need to get a sub woofer, or get the 8030A or the 8040A those have great high bass.
@bargainman458 I got it in a German store call thomann I will send you the link on your youtube inbox. to tell you the truth these monitors are kick fucking ass.
@bargainman458 if you have the time or if you could get a cheap round flight ticket to the store in germany it would be worth while, I heard the 8020B are over a grand in the states, probably since they are hand made in Finland and people who live in Europe are paying in euros and the exchange from euros to dollar is about the same when you purchase in the states.
@comptongameLA don't be jealous they are great speakers, I worked my ass off to get these monitors but they were worth every penny I would sure you this man and if you could get the 8030A get them they are crazy loud also. These are loud but shit the 8030 and 8040 are supreme as well.
@comptongameLA check out my review video I have also I am testing the puppies out and they sound loud but they do not bother your ears plus they are very transparent to any mistake of sound you listen
These are about 300€ per monitor here in Finland, and I'm planning on purchasing pair of these and NAD C515 BEE CD-player. I'm kind of a worried about the listening range, cause they're close range monitors, so am I able to properly listen music with these in rather large rooms?
@Progapanda Wel the 8020 B are great, but I would recommend the 8040A but with the 8020B you could get the same level of frequencies, as if you could of had the 8040 A but if you have any doubt you could appreciate them in a room that is about 1.50m, but I have another video where I show the performance of the genelec. Check the atabey live channel with the genelec review because he cranks the hell out of them.
@tissot233 I would recommend the 8020B if you want a more bass punch the 6010a are great but for sure you would not go wrong with the 8020B they have great bass sound check my review video of the 8020B you could actually here how the bass kicks in plus you could put them very loud and they don't bother Ears.
