scepter of the ancients best album.. i heard they tried to create more groove and melodic hooks in their songs in later albums.. i think thats a detour from their original and much more kick ass sound. bring back scepter.. i loved the fact that there were riffs on that album i wish went for longer.. made listening to the whole song much sweeter.
his either stoned or doesn't enjoy public speaking... either way he looks tortured.. endearing though for such a great guitar riffer. Haley kicks ass!

@Grunge00125 yo dude, my advice is start with covers. like, try playing something already written out, like bleeding masscara from atreyu (i hate them a lot and i think theyre scene/emo but the sweeps in that song are good practice). then i'd suggest doing individual exercises and quite possibly moving onto jeff loomis shit, like the psalm of lydia or the solo in i voyager. good luck man :)

i dont really know what's going on in this convo, but i'll say that ive seen psycroptic live and stood directly in front of Joe. I have a very keen ear for clammers and mistakes and i listen for them live.
Joe's tone live is so articulate and badass, the mesa triaxis is perfect for thumpy articulate tones, and with that being said, i could hear every single note he played so clearly and he didn't fuck up, not once.
Joe Haley's a bad ass and humble has fuck...my buddy met him and said he was totally down to earth:) Hence why I like underground death metal and shit,cause the guys arent all"oohh,look at me ,Im a rock star"..
Most Australian and UK core is terrible. There are some exceptions, but most of it sucks. Though the death metal from both places are good. I'm not hating on deathcore or anything (I love deathcore) but I'm just saying.

When I listened to HWB, I loled at how bad they were, and how off beat the guitar was. Not sure if this was just a really bad demo or what, but it was horrible.
I actually just checked them out a minute ago to see if they're any better. They're cleaner and more technical, but definitely still horrible IMO. Just random sweeps, and the riffs are so lame. Like, they're palm muting the blues scale and think it sounds brutal or something. Just sounds weird.

There's a difference between throwing in a sweep anywhere, and actually following a scale into a sweep.

i dont really know what's going on in this convo, but i'll say that ive seen psycroptic live and stood directly in front of Joe. I have a very keen ear for clammers and mistakes and i listen for them live.
Joe's tone live is so articulate and badass, the mesa triaxis is perfect for thumpy articulate tones, and with that being said, i could hear every single note he played so clearly and he didn't fuck up, not once.
he was perfectly in sync the entire time

Most Australian and UK core is terrible. There are some exceptions, but most of it sucks. Though the death metal from both places are good. I'm not hating on deathcore or anything (I love deathcore) but I'm just saying.

When I listened to HWB, I loled at how bad they were, and how off beat the guitar was. Not sure if this was just a really bad demo or what, but it was horrible.

I actually just checked them out a minute ago to see if they're any better. They're cleaner and more technical, but definitely still horrible IMO. Just random sweeps, and the riffs are so lame. Like, they're palm muting the blues scale and think it sounds brutal or something. Just sounds weird.

Yes, they have no knowledge when it comes to transitions and rhythm. Honestly, they're okay, but they seem like they have no idea whats good when it comes to writing. I already have written something better than HWB, and it doesn't consist of palm muting and hammer ons, and some random sweeps. Listen to their song Drop Dead Gorgeous. It's off beat and the riffs are generic as hell. I'm not being ignorant, I don't hate the band, I just think they can improve a ton.

I dont listen to anything previous to the weight of all things. Its a technical brutal album. And post your songs man. They have no knowledge of transitions and rhythm. Well, I've heard one song from what I believe is their most recent album, and it wasn't much of an improvement. The sweeps in the beginning were great, thats all I can say good about it. Calling me an idiot because I see how bad a band is, is pretty dumb. I have nothing to post ATM, but once I get a decent quality recording I'll post a few songs. There's a difference between throwing in a sweep anywhere, and actually following a scale into a sweep.

I never said I was better than them, I just said they can improve, so can I, and so can you. I think the guitarist are pretty good technical wise, but musical wise, no. This is my opinion, I never said it was a fact. I never claimed to be a know it all guitarist either. It's constructive criticism.

I'm not sure why they would purposely play off beat and sloppy. Maybe it's a new trend in Deathcore, I duno. I wasn't saying they can improve because I don't like them, I mean because they are actually bad and sloppy. I would want someone to tell me if I were bad, wouldnt you? I don't learn songs, never have. Not that I can't, it's cause I don't like playing what other people have written. It's a great way to exercise and learn, but I don't care to do it.

When I say they're off beat, I mean the guitar is off beat to the drums, it's not something they do on purpose, trust me, I'm a big fan of Polyrhythm type drum beats, and what they're doing isn't 'good' at all. if youd pull your head out of your ass and listen the beat isnt kept by drums they use the cymbals to the timing so they can more freely use the drum to play something that isnt straight forward garbage thats been spewed out for hundreds of years sorry its too complicated for someone with half a brain in their thick skull to understand go back to listening to something you can actually comprehend
