  • yea mick this meercat was watchin liverpool play!!!!!! ha ha

  • People are fools. I think we should release these weirdos that make bad comments here into the wild because they are kept in cruel captivity. Let them watch for predators like these meercats.

  • ajaja suricato dormilon, le encargaron que cuide y le gana el sueño, es que ya no sienten amenazas como en la vida salvaje, pero aun guardan sus costumbres. deberian estar en su habitat natural.

  • I Love meerkats

  • He's like 'Must not fall asleep...' 'I wasn't sleeping! I was just resting my eyes!', Lol.....

  • that's so me in history hehehe

  • wow that meerkat is FAT

    is huge hahaha

I love meerkats they are the best

    Team Meerkat :)

  • it's the fucking junkie

  • This little 'guy' might be a little 'gal' and with pup...

  • LOL absolutely

  • omfg. that's what I feel like every day at the office :)

  • dude this meerkat is fat. compared to the meerkat Manor show on animal planet, this guy is tubby

  • He needs to pull over at the next rest stop.

  • At 1:40 his face looks like ">:["

  • Someone give this little guy a pillow... he's too cute!!!!!!!!

  • I just love those dainty paws hanging down almost lifelessly in front of that massive belly and that glazed over look in his eyes. Every time I see it, I just burst out laughing the first few seconds of this video.

  • Yeah, it's like he's saying "Oh well, guess we're screwed because I need a nap!"

  • Wonder if they take turns doing "night duty"?

  • that meercat is taking 2 shift. look the other one that already sleep. hahahahaaaa... most funny part when the meercat finally desert the "night duty". Too sleepy to be on duty. Hahahaaa..

  • Poor little thing...he sooooo sleeeepy! I love seeing his eyes roll back in his head as his head drops.

  • lol @ people thinking that the zoo keepers and the zoo is trying to keep the meercats awake. XD

  • lol i do that in class

  • I hate you.. poor animal... this is really cruel because youre filming and showing an unhappy animal there.. I hate zoos and people who like them. They should be free.

  • Or maybe the zoo is providing a cultivated environment for the meercats to survive and breed within. Hate is too strong a word I think. But thanks for the comment.

  • maybe if they were not livng in the zoo they'd die, but it's not cruel, they wouldnt live cos the nature wants. In stead of let the nature follow her course, humans intervene. Zoos suck.

  • This is not an unhappy animal. It´s totally normal meerkat behaviour.

While some meerkats may certainly be unhapp in zoos, stressed by visitors, fed too much junk etc. judging this video as evidence of anything wrong going on is just ignorant, you can see the EXACT same behaviour in documentations of wild meerkats.

  • well royalconqeso its not cruel if the people take care of the animals but it is cruel if they dont take care of the animals.:)

  • @royalconqueso lol sorry about 3 year reply but if they were in wild they would be eaten so dont talk whatcha dont know ;)

  • :( can't you see, poor she , she is like at work beywond that glass. she want s to sleep but she is like not allowed to, she need to be seen by the visitors

  • The meercat isn't being kept awake by the zoo keepers, it's keeping itself awake to watch for predetors, that's is job!

  • that is true and good job

  • Cute but I have a question: Isn't there a risk that the meercat has to be alert much more in the zoo than in it's own natural habitat? The visitors could be seen as a _constant_ threat and therefore the meercats stay awake more than they normally would?

  • Well if institutionalised Meercats, are anything like domesticated cats, then their territories are considerably reduced, and the food itself come from the humans. Thus Meercats bred in a Zoo would see humans as essentially big meercats maternal figures, not predators.

  • I understand the comparsion and hope it's like that but cats on the other hand are often alone (or mostly with people they are familiar with) while a Meercat in the zoo is an fun attraction for many, new, visitors. So there is a greater chance that the animal is stressed by this.

Or maybe they enjoy looking at people :) Maybe they like the company of many instead of being left alone in a boring apartment for 9-10 hours.

  • Maybe the zoo is better than keeping an animal in the apartment for example.. (That was my point, if it was not clear enough).

  • Ihave rating for you !!! I like sooooooo The surikat !!!

  • haha. its so funny when the do that. they are like little kids. don't wnant to fall asleep but they do anyway

  • my boyfriend does this sometimes coz I talk too much :) hehe

  • lol just like my mum does
