It's hard to learn, it's my mother language, but it was more easy for many of us to learn English on school then Dutch, correctly. It has much discrepancy between the spelling and pronunciation plus millions of sayings etc etc.
I find it very interesting how when Dutch people speak English, they sound so natural. Probably more natural than an American sounds trying to speak Dutch :).

Hi dutchforn00bs. Which part of Netherlands are you from ? How tall are you and do you have green or brown eyes ? I am curious, from what I have heard certain parts of Netherlands are mostly blue eyes and blond. However some parts have people with mostly brown eyes and hair. Is that true ?
@vkoo32 We're mostly just mixed everywhere :D I guess Frisians are known for being blonde & blue-eyed a little bit, but it's not like there are no dark-haired people in that province :D I'm from Zwolle (north/east), am 1.65m and have grey/blueish eyes, I think. I'm never really sure.
@MegaAstrodude My guess is that it is some kind of bastardisation of Kuikendaal. For the pronunciation of 'ui', see dutchforn00bs's video about vowels.
@anyalify The netherlands, Belgium, and there are also people from New York who speak Dutch because there was this history about "New Amsterdam" and switching/trading it and then the name changed to "New York", and uhm... South Africa.
@ijdeltuit no, they traded new york [new amsterdam at that time] for suriname, thats why many suriname people speak dutch, if iam right suriname people have to learn dutch at school
@anyalify The Netherlands (of couse), a part of Belgium (They also speak frensh and German there), Luxembug (a very smal land), Parts of Germany, Suriname, South Africa, parts of Indonesia and some other countries like Aruba...
@ichweissesnochnicht hey, the d and t in this case are both pronounced like a t. For the difference between ui and ou you could watch my video on the pronunciation of the vowels :)

Hopefully, I'm going to study in your country next year (in English, not in Dutch), so I wanted to take a look at what your language is like and it's interesting... and seems quite easy, compared e.g. to German :) People told me that Dutch sounds like a sore throat but I don't think so :)
You seem very nice, too, I hope I can find a Dutch friend like you :)
BTW, is it true that almost all Dutch people speak perfect English? I will be so ashamed of my English among you :/
@Karin141622 Where in the Netherlands do you want to go? I wouldn't say we speak perfect English, but most people can definitely speak some English :)
@dutchforn00bs I'm applying for a bachelor's programme at the University of Leiden, but most classes of that programme take place in Den Haag, so I'd probably need to live there.
Everything depends on how I will do in my English exams and also on the financial situation of my family :/ But getting to the Netherlands would be really AWESOME...
