The newest consoles are making less and less difference from their predecessors in terms of graphics. From the SNES to the N64 the difference was incredible, but I don't see much difference between this game and Super Mario Sunshine. The next generation will be almost not different from the Wii. Why not stop the generations and keep these consoles for a long, long time?

You make a good point. There seem to be 2 directions things are going since games are almost to the point of photo realism. Nintendo's approach has been to create and implement new input devices (DS & Wii). The other approach is to re-create worlds with realistic physics and behavioral patterns which takes much more processing power than pretty graphics. The truth is companies hate releasing new systems b/c they lose alot of money at first, but it is the nature of progression I guess. -Ron

Remember that from SNES and N64 there was a big step for the consoles, from 2D to 3D. I consider that this time, the big step was in the way you play and usefulness of the console, e.g. you can't download games or navigate on Internet with GC.

I still video have ways to go before photo realism especialy on the wii, very few games I would say are actually photo realistic except gran turismo 4, but I guess that's because cars are a lot easier to render realistically than people.

I liked the video and I think you are close to a popular opinion. Oh, and don't worry, there's an even harder level like that in the Rolling Gizmo Galaxy. It's one of the trial galaxies when you get the 3 green stars.
