You are very fortunate to have all these great string instruments. I love playing guitar and would love to try a banjo or mandolin. If you become famous send me one?
My house just got torn down by an earthquake, I went to school in the morning with my banjo I had to evacuate and the teachers wouldn't let me take it home with me D; there's a 27 storey building about to collapse and take my school with it. I don't think i'll see my poor banjo again. D; <3 Avett Brothers <3
I am a beginner banjo player and you have helped me learn this song somewhat! between going back and forth from you and the avetts, I can somewhat understand what to play. thank you for posting this and please post more!
Very nice cover. Wish the camera was just a little pulled back so I could see you fingers on the fretboard a little more clearly. Thanks to you I think I will reconsider selling my banjo and mandolin and sticking with just guitar and ukulele. My wife is gonna be pissed ... lol.
Before you can start on Bela, I'd recommend learning to play 3 finger style with picks. I own many banjo books, I'd recommend Hal Leonard's Banjo Method. After that, Tony Trischka's "complete banjo" book. That'll get you started on up the neck stuff. If you get serious, I'd recommend a cheap banjo with an actual tone ring... I owned what you're playing now; it was miserable to play.
If you have any banjo questions, feel free to email me.
Yeah, the banjo has the ability to turn one into banjo freak. It's addicting. I bought mine as a dare, thinking I'd never learn anything complicated. A little more than a year later, I managed Bela Fleck's Eager and Anxious (which I made a video of). I grew tired of learning bluegrass exclusively and I search out non-bluegrass tunes.
I think you'll surprise yourself. Thanks for the friend request.
@instantpestering True that!! I should have waited to record this, because I'm improving all the time. I love bela fleck!! I can't wait to start learning his stuff.
As one banjo player to another, sounds pretty decent. It's a bit unconventional, banjo and people need to keep on so that the banjo isn't only a bluegrass instrument. Keep it up!
I appreciate it. I'm more of a banjo player now than when I recorded this, like last week. I practice everyday, so hopefully I'll just keep getting better. :)
Great job, i want to learn this song one day when i get a banjo
