In my AP calculus class, every single person got a 3 or higher on the AP exam. In my teacher's career, only 1 person ever got a 2.

Meanwhile, 2 towns over, only 1 person got a 5. The majority got 3 or lower.

Ergo, teachers are absolutely responsible for kids getting bad grades. Not entirely, but to a large degree.

It seems to me that it is ridiculous to try to determine how well teachers perform based on student performance. Because students that come from a homes that don't emphasize academic achievement, that R surrounded by negative influences, that attend schools that R underfunded and feature the worst facilities, those teachers R starting the game with a very pronounced handicap.

As being a student once in my life, I don't blame the teachers... I've had some amazing teachers with some really stupid classmates... some people are just not into school or learning... can't change that...

I would rather see douche bag college teachers get the axe... there is are some super shitty college professors... I've had them... some where the students know more then them & the dean protects their stupid ass...

Improving the quality of education is VERY simple. Treat schools in the same scrutiny that you do with colleges. Allow students to rate their teachers. FIRE the teachers who are bad. In the United States it's very difficult to fire a bad teacher from a public school, because of the Unions.
