  • I'm not sold.

  • I don't see this scene as being dark. It's about desire and beauty, not perversion. So I prefer A Rose but your piece is very well written and composed. I just don't think it sits right with what's on the screen.

  • your music gives the scene more of a mysterious type of atmosphere but the first gives just the right tone and feel and its great but yours was very well done

  • His face expresses kid's ilusion not darkness, your music piece is nice, but I always think that Arose it's the perfect piece for this scene, however, nice job mate ;)

  • Wow! Wonderful!

  • what a scene *_____*

  • I like both soundtracks, but I feel the first track better matches the basic feeling of the scene. The scene isn't supposed to be dark, more just curious. The movie has dark undertones, but exactly an obvious darkness. It's more...mind bending. You know?

  • wow thats a very powerful difference in feeling, fantastic job, I think it meshes well with how blood red this scene can be, instead of 'rose' red

  • I thought it was extremely interesting to see how differently I viewed the scene depending on which peice of music it was. Great work!

  • Great work. Excellent. I have subscribed to your channel now!

  • great experiment youve done here. awesome stuff. have you done any others? and if not you should.

  • This is my favorite scene, the music, the visuals, its so perfect and beautiful

  • Thats right, I was choking the bishop, chafing the carrot, you know, saying "hi" to my monster!

  • In my opinion the second piece of music creates a more sexually charged scene, with a bigger complicity between them. Great work !

  • It makes him look like a pervert, and she looks like a sadist

  • @iwannabemade1 And that's why you'll never understand good cinema.

  • Thanks guys!

  • I had to say I was very skeptical, but I found it very interesting and well done. It is completely against the story, but I could imagine a movie in which Angela is some kind of evil temptress, this would fit well there.

  • absolutely amazing in my humble opinion.

gives a totally different impression for the viewer (or at least me).

  • You could argue that his sudden fascination with a schoolgirl his daughters age, leaves room for darkness and eerieness...which was my approach.

It's a matter of opinion and interpretation, I suppose. There's no right or wrong answer.

  • Why would you want it to sound darker and eerier. That's not what thast's scenes about at all, Thomas Newman's piece speaks more to Lester's emotional state.

  • @Rechiau

True enough. But its fascinating to see the drastic change in tone, regardless.I think the point of this video (and CelluloidWavelength even said so) is to show how different a scene actually is with a different score and how important music truly is to a scene.

The 2nd music gives this a more dark light to it. In a way,its actually more sexual in the second. While the first is far more playful and happy,as you said-for it fits Lester's Emotional state.

  • Very interesting!
