do you mind if I post this to my tumblr? I have one that focuses on the term differently abled. I have disabilities but do not view them as negative things, just different things. We also support any form of disability pride. Such a sweet beautiful video and child. May he have all the happiness in the world!
Nice video! I came across it while looking for that Sara Groves song, which I love. We have a 4 year old boy with autism. We made a similar video you may be interested in. I'll send you the link.
PLEASE check out a great Children's book about Autism, PDD and ADHD called 'Why Is He Different?' (Please spread the word about this unique book, tell your friends and tell me what you think about it. Big thanks!!). You can preview it on youtube profile called Monalisaknew. Just copy and paste the following sentence in youtube search window: 'Why Is He Different? (Autism Book)'
You can also buy this book on AthsePublishing(dot)com. Thank You !!
While early therapy is very effective, I would reccomend that people see the true meaning of "autism prevention." Autism has many more genetic factors than environmental factors. What I am trying to say is that some autism "charities" promote discrimination of autistics.
I live in Charlotte NC. my son has Autism.. He can not speak,, very heart breaking... There aren't any programs here to assistant unless, you have the funds for it.. We live to check to check...
We never had a lot of money. We have lived in crappy living conditions since I was born. ABA is effective because it stimulates the areas of the brain that control communication functions. Basically, it is positive parenting except that it practiced by professionals for a dedlcated time. As a child matures, autistic symptoms decrease in severity.
i just want to say that she is amazing! we saw her in concert last night in plymouth mass along with 3 other christian groups and it was just amazing. shes awesome! i just want to say god bless everyone this holiday.
Lovely video. I am a female aspie acknowledged last year at 56. We need no cure..its not a disease. Your message is correct. I had a wonderful life and my aspie mom raised me like any child. I was free to be me. I love being an aspie.
NEVER lose hope! I can only imagine how hard it is for you and I am sure there are days when you just want to scream (probably lots! ;)). It's easy to get caught up in how tough it is though, and loose site of the amazing gift of our children (I know I've had my moments!). But thats why I made this video, because I needed to remind myself that my son isn't a diagnosis. Sometimes we have to look harder to find our child within the autism , but they ARE there. I will say a prayer for you!
My son to has Autism and was dx at 2.5yrs. He to can show emotion, he can kiss, hug, laugh. Its a very misunderstood disorder especially by those it does not effect. I fought against his dx as I thought children with ASD never showed emotion or happiness, HOW WRONG WAS I. Your son is gorgeous! But as this is a hidden disability the general public need a greatera awareness on autism, all our children are different and are not the RAINMAN.
Neither of my sons have autism. In fact as far as we know they have no unique diagnosis. When searching for songs to use in family videos i came across yours. As I held back a tear I thought i must send you a message to tell you how beautiful your family is. May God continue to Bless always.
I'm in tears, but I know that as parents of autistic children, we truly do have an understanding of life's trials and tribulations and although autism is like a puzzle, with so many pieces still missing, the love that we cherish grows stronger by the days.
lovely video, going in to the posautive youtube group and its kids subgroup, thank you! I'd like to add that all children need 'early intervention' - just the autistic kids benefit from specially sensitive awareness of their difficulties, and the sooner those are appreciated and addressed the better!
Thank you for sharing this, I have a son and a daughter with autism. They are huge light in my life, they show me a love everyday that everyone should experience.
Thank you for this song, I have two children with autism and this reminds me of how much love I have for them. They are amazing with the love they give the world
Lovely video. And although you don't wish to 'change' your son, I wish for a cure everyday of my son's life. I want him to have the opportunities that all of my children have and more. It would be selfish of me not to want a cure, and this doesn't mean I don't love my son. I want the best for him and all children, always.
Beautiful video! Beautiful song! My son is also autistic and perfectly flawed like all people on Earth. I wouldn't change his essence so why look for a cure. My goal, like yours, I assume, is to make him an happy person by giving him the best tools possible!
Absolutely Brilliant - you get the message across so simply and so beautifully. Your family should be very proud of you. The video you uploaded does more to address some of the myths of autism than most of the societies set up specifically for that purpose - Well done!!
We also have a son with autism. With early treatment, diet, awesome teaches he is now 90 percent in a regular 1st grade class. He is a joy to the whole family...
I LOVE this video and song. I think I've watched it probably 20 times since I found it a few days ago. I too have an child with autism. My Marcus is just a little less than a year older, he turned 7 in September. I wouldn't change him for anything. He's sweet and funny and an absolute gift from God!! Stay strong and please...please...contact me anytime. Maybe we can share stories!!
Thank you for sharing a video that says "My son doesn't need a cure..." You are right, he is perfect just the way he is! Thank you for raising this child as special as he is...
I just saw your video for the 1st time and I want to thank you. I am in Madrid, Spain getting a Master's Degree in Early Intervention to become one more of the many who want to help children everywhere. I was a kindergarten teacher for 2 years, and it was the experiences I had with several children in the classroom that led me to be interested in Early Intervention. I'm sure that with this Master I'll be able to do so much more for them. You, your family, and your son inspire me! Thanks again.
my younger brother whos 17 has had autism all his life and he says 2 tell ur son that hes a very cool kid i hav always told my brother that being autistic just means that ur extra special please tell the same 2 ur son from us and our mum
Hey Amanda! Kristie passed on your video and it rocks!! I agree totally about the schools needing more funding. My child is now in a class with an integrated child because the school has no true IU program. I now see how that child is actually left behind because of the "No Child Left Behind Program." I hope that all is well at your household and know that we may not see you giys often; Alex, Amber, and Alyssa are always in our hearts.
You're video is beautiful! I'm a college student studying speech therapy, and I work with autistic children in a summer school program every summer. I was very touched when you wrote "my son does not need a cure. He needs understanding." The children I work with have taught me more than I ever thought I could teach them. Enjoy your son and his unique prespective on the world, I can tell you already are! Thank You for posting your video for the world to see.
Thank you so much for sharing your video. You have an amazing son and you are absolutely right about funding. I was wondering if you would let me share your video with my classmates as I am doing a research on autism. Thank you so much. Z.Layton
Thank you so much for posting this beautiful video and song. I pray it will touch and encourage many, and that you, your AMAZING boy, and all your family will be blessed beyond all you could ask or think. God truly does work all things together for good ...
