I came across this on my Staind playlist while walking on a cloudy day...this album DOES NOT get the credit it deserves from so-called Staind fans...this is hard in a mellow way. Staind never fucking lost their edge. Listen to Aaron's voice. Just listen to it, hear it. He's singing his heavy heart out.
I was amazed to find that this song was pretty much about politics. He is talking about parades and propaganda for Obama and how it's a "Rainy Day Parade." It is best summarized in this part:
"I will not surrender what it was our fathers died to bear
We the people stated, not negotiated
Just to be forgotten, I wish that you could open up and see"
This song is amazing because it came before the election and Aaron predicted successfully that Obama would be terrible for America.
@monmbanger967 I agree, but to further it, I think he meant it more in refrence to politics in general. He said he didn't mean dem or repub, just both parties. That if you don't like this country, then go to other countries and live. Bet you'll realize this is the best country after. Ya know, I loved staind before, but now I have a personal love for Aaron Lewis himself. It's nice to have support in the country our fathers built. :)
@meghankathleen222 AARON LEWIS: You know, Im so upset with whats going on in the world right now. I mean, mid-terms are coming up here soon, and we need to, as the free society which is the United Stateswhich has been the envy of the entire world since its inception, that the government has succeeded in screwing upthat we need to go back and pay attention to those three, ingenious words that were written down on a documentcalled The Constitution
@monmbanger967 NO NO NO!!! This song isnt about politics! Its about the people who live here in the U.S. and constantly complain about things but dont do anything about it!!! Its not about propaganda!!!
@locosychocrazy1 damn straight. I'm deployed overseas right now while people complain about their life choices. This is America dammit! Go out and work for what you want!
I get sick and tired of all the bands out there singing about how shitty our country and government is. 99% of the rock bands out there today are a bunch of extreme leftists.
One of the reasons I like these guys so much is that their not a bunch of liberal bed wetters. Granted they sing about alot of societies ills like child abuse/neglect, divorce etc...But uou dont see them writing songs about how dirty our country and government is. Rock on!!
Tru dat!!!! I guess you mean then that they write about life shit that many people have to deal with and have.... i mean at least what they write about you can control! Best band ever!! love! them
For some reason the chorus reminds me of Open Your Eyes, also it seems like that kind of song, lyrically. None the less it fuckin rules! August 19th, can't wait!
