If you read the description, one of the Trivia points clearly acknowledges 'Elephant' as "an obvious big inspiration for this film". In fact, if you watch Part 2 of the film, Gus Van Sant even has a SPECIAL THANKS in the end credits.

I think 'rip-off' is pushing it and I'd prefer to call it a homage - something which I think Gus Van Sant himself would agree with, considering that his own film 'Elephant' was a homage/'rip-off' of Alan Clarke's film of the same name.

  • If anyone wants to see a film that is based on actual facts of Columbine, watch "Zero Hour". That is basically the truth of what happened.

  • @theunknown1997 yea but the acting was horrible in that. If you really wanna see a good movie about columbine. watch Zero Day. best movie ever! its on netflix.

  • it was on 4/20 hahahahaha

  • 3:39 A printout of Eric's actual plans.

But yeah this is just awful.

  • Amanda's got a nice rack...;)

  • my name is dylan

  • @DcLomas96 Good for you, mate.

  • Is the bitch supposed to be eric?

  • @stonersrule100

They're not specifically based on either of them because it's a fictional 'What if?' scenario, i.e. 'What if the Columbine killers were a male and female couple instead of two male friends?' But if we were to compare them, I'd say that the boy, David, is closer to Eric who was apparently the main mastermind behind it, and the girl, Amanda, represents Dylan, who - it has been suggested - might have been more reluctant to go through with it.

  • @stonersrule100 loll wow

  • I don't agree with the violence. Dylan and Eric were not obviously in a good mental state and I understand where they have come from. I've almost been there myself. However, I'm glad I came to my senses. What they did was wrong. But people need to remember they weren't evil. People aren't evil. It's the things they do that are evil.

  • this makes me literally sick....i knew everyone that they murdered and this is just cruel to have posted.

  • I helped Eric build his bombs, and I set the diversion bomb. Too bad they didn't blow the library, that would have been epic.

  • hahaha, 4/20

  • @Puchigardiechan. Why thank you! ;3

  • There were so many lives lost, and sure compared to natural disasters like the one in Japan took many more lives, just one life is too much...this shooting occured the day before my fourth birthday and I was obviously too young to remember, but to this day it still shakes me to the core...not only because these boys were so distrubed, but because the other students didn't even have the compassion to acknowledge their plights

  • Zero Day is much better

  • @mortaljason Zero Hour you mean? and yea it is

  • @sicRebel333 No, Zero Day was a columbine inspired full length movie. Look for the trailer on youtube.

  • @mortaljason yes i see. thank you

  • is this what they rlly did before?

  • @pyroINK

Well, they did record home videos explaining what they had planned known as the 'Basement Tapes'. These tapes are not available to the public but transcripts of them are and most of the dialogue in this film was taken directly from those transcripts.

As for the rest of it, we don't really know, but the point was to highlight that they MIGHT have done something as mundane as having their breakfast before they went on to commit the horrible massacre.

  • John Carfield? That a type of pun since they let Chris Brown live -- told him "go home" in a car field (parking lot). ;) Nice play on words.

@tosavealife1000 Where do you think much of the first Matrix came from? Ever watched the movie Elephant? There's a whole bunch of movies started thanks to the "inspiration" of these kids. While they lost focus on the real problem -- the bullies of ALL high schools, they speak a direct message to everyone from 1999 on. Sometimes the underdog bites back.

  • @NationalGuardOfRS

I think you mean Brooks Brown, but it was a reference to him yeah, the idea of one of the killers changing his mind about killing him and crossing him off the list.

The name Carfield was just a random name I came up with, but that's very interesting coincidence!

  • THIS IS SICK!!!! WHY DID YOU MAKE THIS VIDEO OF "AN INSPIRATION" THIS IS NO INSPIRATION!!!!!!!! YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT HAPPENED AT COLUMBINE!!!! I SUGGEST THAT YOU TAKE THIS VIDEO OFF BECAUSE THE ACTUAL STUDENTS THAT WATCH THIS WILL ALSO BE SICKENED BY THIS

  • @ToSaveALife1000 Testify man (or woman), this is a pretty insulting video, if you wanted to make an inspirational video you should've made it about Rachel Joy Scott...her life was truly an inspiration and she could've done so much good for the world had these bastards not killed her...though in a way she is improving the lives of millions with her challenge, my school (less than an hours drive away from colombine) has become so much better because of her, she is the true inspiration

  • @Puchigardiechan

Thank you for agreeing with me. If they thought that this was a good idea to make, that is where they are in the wrong. I can understand that they are sharing an opinion of what they think, but really? they had to make a video about it? i really quite doubt they researched. Well let me take that back, they did research but they took the negativity of it which is what Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold did, probably because of the "action" which in this situation there is no action

  • rachel, steve, daniel, and john are names of some of the victims. eric and dylan are on it too right next to each other.

  • @Beicon55 the sources i found stated fluvoxamine, (luvox) which i actually take for depression / obsessive compulsive disorder.

  • anyone notice that at 9:32 the 2 original 2 shoots first names (eric and dylan) are there next to eachother????

  • @umascarlett

Yeah, that was intentional, it's in the Trivia notes in the vid description.

The first letter of the surnames is also the same, i.e. Eric H and Dylan K.

    Good spotting.

  • @Windurin ty

  • ARLENE SANDERS

  • wow so much unfocused in the beg. someone needs to learn how to use the camera

  • @cherrybomb you're a douchebag. Manson has nothing to do with the Columbine shootings. It was just another conservative misconception about why it happened. Like violent video games. All of it's B.S.

@Windurin how is your feature going? I'm really looking forward to it still. :)

  • @xxuselessbulletsxx

The feature 'Never' is still in development, but it has gone through some changes - for a start, the actors in this film who were also going to star in the feature are now too old to play the parts of the shooters, so they will be recast, though they will both still be involved in some capacity. The guy who plays David is co-writing it with me.

The other problem we have is: how to do something original with the school shooting idea, because it's already been done to death.

  • @Windurin That's cool, I'm eager to see the end result! As for the school shooting part, I'm sure you'll get a great idea for it. :) I was gonna do a shortie on a massacre as well a while back and wrote the script. I depicted the shooting scene with symbols (ie. the killer ate hundreds of cakes with red icing to symbolise the killing - not too good thats why I abandoned it) but yeah, a metaphorical approach could be one way of looking at it. But that's only 1 option ofc. :P itll come to you! :)

  • What did you use for the weapons?

  • @21ricky666

The one that they are firing in the woods is a blank-firing Glock 17.

One of the other ones in the restroom that they don't fire is a BB gun, but also a Glock 17.

  • @Windurin cool thanks, good job on the film btw.

  • at 4:10 he looks exactly like Bam Margera

  • make a film about martin bryant

  • @windurin... didnt realize you were in college, my b

  • this was for school? he said fuck....

  • @zss1588

Well, for film school, which was part of a university. So everyone watching was at least 18, most of them in their 20's.

  • This is shit I rather watch Duck! The Carbine High Massacre

  • Don't mean to dis, but a girl? Really? Get some things right at least!!

  • @Acastleman13

We got plenty 'right' where we wanted to. The film had to mix fact and fiction as part of a film school brief. The fact that we chose a boy and girl instead of two boys is one of the more original things about the film. It was the main reason for making the film - a 'what if?' scenario, i.e. 'What if the Columbine shooters were a couple rather than 2 friends, how would it have been different and why?

  • @Windurin

yea the description did say "loosely". maybe he didnt read?

  • @Windurin haha i bet they were a couple..

  • this is worse than elephant

  • this is actually really phenominal for a low-budget indie project. hats off to you mate

  • @nelandquinten

    Thanks for the comments.

  • Really well done. The characters were believable.

  • @gorion79

    Thanks.

  • this makes me think how capable I am,you are, and everyone is,how we can just do something so crazy like this and not really think of the conclusion. We as humans are capable of such crazy things that some don't even notice.

  • For some reason, these actors remind me of The White Stripes. lol

  • the guy reminds me of the kid from american history x

  • @cherrybomb19892010 Eric and Dylan hated Manson and thought he was a fag. After the shooting Manson didn't even go near Denver for two years out of respect of the ones that were hurt. Manson never said anything bad about the ones who murdered and never honored Klebold or Harris. All he stated was that if they were still alive he wouldn't say a word but "...would listen to what they had to say, and that's what no one did". Get your facts straight before you post.

  • are the Columbine kids dead

  • @gamerjace22

Yeah, the shot themselves after the shooting.

  • this si sad 8(

  • take a look at the dislikes thats how much ppl died at the Columbine Massacre

  • Pause at 9:31 The name Alex Mason is the name of the main character in Call of Duty Black Ops. I just noticed it .

  • good work, did you film with a sony handycam?

  • @peirsahn

Thanks. It was filmed with the Sony PD-150 camera.

  • A few nice touches but in general the script was appalling and so was the acting

  • There should have been a drama film profoundly based off the Eric and Dylan's lives before the shooting. I thought Elephant was pretty lame, and I hated how bowling for columbine shifted away from the shooters lives.

  • @BearKlaw Watch Zero Day

  • I dont know what was up with him popping the pills. There was no trace of drugs with the columbine shooting.s

  • @YouWontdotTV

It's a reference to Eric taking Fluvoxamine tablets, which he was taking at some point before the shooting. If I remember correctly, he STOPPED taking them some time before the shooting, and during the investigation the point was made that stopping Fluvoxamine medication could increase suicidal tendencies (true of most anti-depressants actually).

We didn't have time to make/add a Fluvoxamine label so it was just left to interpretation.

  • @Windurin O thanks for the research. All in all good job on the project

  • @Windurin that could very well be correct, but what i heard is that at an autopsy of eric harrris' body showed therapeutic levels of fluvoxamine in his blood. anways, i take fluvoxamine and it works very well. i also thought that the two were doing drugs, although dylan's body had no signs of drugs at all. it is possible to be on drugs and not test positive.

  • Comment removed

  • @Windurin

I think, if I'm not mistaking, that they found traces of Luvox in Eric's blood during the autopsy. But the drug stays in your system, even after a cople of days.

    Dylan's blood though was clean.

  • @sickheartsgoesBOOM

Yeah, that's what I thought. There are so many conflicting stories around though that I wasn't sure, but it is known that he WAS taking them at least.

  • @YouWontdotTV they were on anti depressants actually...

  • @YouWontdotTV it was probably for erics deppresants cause he was on anti depressiants if i spelled that right but ur right no drugs were took

  • @YouWontdotTV hence the columbine "inspired" shooting

  • @YouWontdotTV yes there was they found drugs in eric harris autospy

  • @YouWontdotTV He took anti depressent pills that's were the pill popping in the morning came from.

  • @YouWontdotTV eric took anti depressent pills that's were the pill popping in the morning came from.

  • @YouWontdotTV yes there was one was on major depression meds but nothing to get high

  • @YouWontdotTV They found traces of drugs in Eric's system from his autopsy.

  • @YouWontdotTV they were taking anti depresents

  • @YouWontdotTV Eric (I believe) had mental issues that required medication. I think that's the pills he was "popping".

  • @YouWontdotTV Thats why it says, INSPIRED..

  • @YouWontdotTV well eric had traces of lovox in his bloodstream.its a depression drug

  • @YouWontdotTV Eric had Luvox in his bloodstream

  • at 0:44 is a girl saing "Mötley Crüe" ? ^^

  • @TheEmo01

Lol, I actually have no idea what they're saying. It's real audio from the Columbine canteen, not on the day of the shooting but a day a few months prior, from a home video shot by one of Eric's friends.

It does sound like 'Motley Crue' now that you mention it, but I always though it was a name... Polly Crue?

The only bits I can catch for sure are ' huge tits!' and right at the end: 'Jen... shut up.'

  • I really enjoyed watching your film.... I totally <3'ved it, and think what you guys are doing is really awesome... Keep me updated on your next film! I added & subbed!

  • @311diamonddoll

Hi, thanks for sub, add, and comment. This was obviously a short film put together quickly for a film school project. We have learned a lot since making this film, and we guarantee that the feature length British version, 'Never', will be a lot better. We will keep all those interested updated on its progress.

    Thanks again!

  • Oh wow exciting! How is that goin? You will give us a heads up for when the films finished? I adore the actors in this film and I'll be looking forward to the feature! Consider me a big fan. :)

  • @xxuselessbulletsxx

It won't be for a while, we're still working on the script/outline, and we need to raise a bit of a budget for it this time. The shooting itself will be shown briefly in this version, but it's mostly a character film with an emphasis on building tension with the themes of death, power, and choice.

    We'll keep you updated :)

  • @Windurin ohh great thanks. :) sounds fantastic. cant wait!

  • Anyone else think David is adorable?! Fantastic film! Seen it at least five times. I'm obsessed with these sorta morbid events and it really does makes you think twice about bullying and isolation in schools and also at home. I want to make. Film based on school shootings - but not in handheld form... Has anyone read Rage by King? If you like this film Rage is definAtely a fascinating read. Congrats on a great film. and I hope to see kore from you! ( and the actor for David perhaps? :) )

  • @xxuselessbulletsxx

Thanks for the comments. We are making a feature-length version called 'Never'. It will have the same actors as Amanda and David, but they will be speaking with their original British accents instead since we are from the UK, so 'Never' will be set in the UK, and be about the first British school shooting on the scale of Columbine. Like this film though, it will be more about the build-up to the shooting rather than the shooting itself.

  • @xxuselessbulletsxx you're sick

  • Impressive. Well done.

  • @Qlaarzy1

    Thank you.

  • "I NEED SCISSORS, 61!!!!"

  • @404MetalHead Colonol?

  • @SolidSnake3131 Nailed it

  • @404MetalHead Haha. "I was a purple flap jawed worm in my past life. Ah those were the days. What were you?"

  • @SolidSnake3131 BEST. SERIES. EVER.

  • No easy answers by Brooks Brown, is a better read than Dave Cullen's Columbine, it's a good book but Brooks knew both Eric and Dylan -- esp Dylan from an early age, and he tells some interesting stories about both boys.

  • 11yrs today!

  • @TheXxPinkPrincess69x

Lol, thanks. Are you Welsh, or you just know a few choice phrases? :)

  • Eric and Dylan help change the way people look at bullying for awhile..Now people have gone back to it look at the phoebe prince case that just happend

  • i love this !did a great job!

and i will allways remember columbine.

and that means ,i will also remember eric harris and dylan klebold.

  • Comment removed

  • @thedickprick Your a dick wade

  • Long live voDKa and Reb

  • @TheDickPrick listen dickhead, so if you got shot on april 20th for no God damn reason, you'd appreciate that? Go kill yaself & get it over with then! INNOCENT kids have died for no God damn reason because of those fuckers! Eric & Dylan will live forever? News flash hunni, THEY'RE ALREADY DEAD & THEY'RE BOTH BURNING IN HELL REPENTING FOR WHAT THEY HAVE DONE!

  • You fucking worshipped dylan & Eric? Those fags are dead! they killed themselves cuz they knew if they stayed alive they were gunna SUFFER in PRISON for the rest of their LIFE! But it's all good cuz now they're fucking BURNINGG IN HELL! FUCK THEM I'M GLAD THEY DEAD! THEY KILLED INNOCENT PPL FOR NO FUCKING REASON FUCK EM!

  • Lol. Anger much? Who gives a shit. Eric and Dylan did what they had to do. I find them to be heros for kids like them. All kids who are like them should bomb there school this year on april 20th. Bombs after bombs. all over the US! Eric and Dylan will live forever!

  • nice drwing of reb's stuff aka eric harris this is great 5 stars

  • i highly recommend you read the book "columbine" by dave cullen. i'm fascinated by eric and dylan, and all the details behind the shooting. i think you did a great job! i especially love the morning before scenes

  • @WolfEnter1934

Long live two brainwashed teenagers who killed 13 innocent kids?! You're nuts.

  • @WolfEnter1934 Long live Harris? WoW I'm praying for you mate, because you're lost if you're making a statement like that.

  • Thanks. I have the Dave Cullen book but I haven't read it yet.

    Glad you liked the film.

  • @ssiobhann I read that book and it was amazing. I loved it so much because i very much enjoy reading the history of american disasters. That book helped me so much as well, for example i never knew they planed to collapse the library onto the cafitria.

  • @ssiobhann Where can I get the book? I'd like to read it also.

  • @richardfanx3 you can get it almost anywhere, I'm pretty sure all major book stores have it...when I went and got mine a few months ago there were several copies of it! good luck:)

  • @ssiobhann What section is it in? I wouldn't know where to look. I'll probably go to Barnes and Noble.

  • @richardfanx3 I think it's in the crime section...or you could look it up on their computers. or you could just ask someone who works there!

  • Dude, I have a script for a movie like this all ready and... yeah, man...

Personally, I think Dylan was the more sympathetic of the two... Eric was just a psychopathic little asshole, Dylan was driven off the deep end by the bullying...

  • you don't know what in the world you're talking about do you!

  • Yes, I do, in fact. I was just a little in shock after watching the video.

  • im full of hate and i love - eric harris

    best quote ever

  • @puffywashere

    so true!

  • Im also making a movie like this. but its fictional. probably a little based on columbine as well.

  • this is actually really well done. reminds me of Zero Day.

  • good work :) wouldnt have guessed the actors were welsh!

  • Eric HUNTER - Dylan KINGsgate

    very good!

  • Lol, I'm glad SOMEONE noticed :)

  • @Windurin my pleasure - Ive been fascinated with this case ever since it happened - Im only 3 months older than Eric - so was essentially the same age and was going through the same frustrations as him at the time of the incident - I actually paid big $ for a KMFDM cd owned by Eric from one his old friends..........

  • Thanks for the comments. I've also been fascinated with it ever since it happened and I still want to make a feature-length UK school shooting film similar in tone to this one. We have the outline, but no script yet.

  • @Windurin Interesting - so your UK based? American actors or just accents then? great work either way. best of luck with all future projects.

  • Yeah, this was filmed in Cardiff and Newport in Wales. The actors are my best friend (who played David) and cousin (who played Amanda), both Welsh, just doing accents.

Thanks again. Good luck to you too.

  • handy how it goes out of focus anything illegal is shown....

  • Well, it would be handy, but nothing illegal is there to show: the 'pipe bombs' have nothing in them, and the gun is a registered blank firer, not loaded. Oh, and Eric's schedule/plan for the shooting is in the public domain now.

  • I wonder if anyone can help me: I'm looking for a short British film called 'Elephant.' It is NOT the Gus Van Saint film. But it did feature long steadycam shots, and lots of people being shot. Made in possibly the early nineties. In part of the film, the killer drives between buildings to carry on shooting. Any ideas? Thanks

  • I'm surprised you are actually firing real guns. The beginning of the movie started out kinda below c-. I was expected you to jerk the gun and make cheap gun sounds from your mouth.

  • The guns are not real. The one they fire in the woods is an 8mm blank-firing Glock 17. The real Glock 17 is a 9mm gun.

The same gun is used in the close-ups in the restroom. The other gun that Amanda is holding in the wide shot is a Glock 17 BB gun.

And the blank-firer has proper recoil and muzzle flash and is LOUD. Although if you look closely, you can see the blank shell ejecting from the TOP of the gun, which is how to tell it's not real. Sorry :)

  • I think the guy is the better actor of the two, to be honest, but either way I thought this was a pretty good try. I did quite enjoy it, though I wish it had been longer.

  • Thanks for the comment and Favourite. We are making a UK-based feature-length remake called 'Never' so we'll keep you updated on that.

  • is this supose to infer to the columbine shooting

  • There's plenty of information in the Info Box. That's what it's there for.

Why did you just comment that you agreed 'the guy was a fag' if you don't know much about it? I don't mind criticsm but such opinions are starting to bore me, how about paying attention to the film and giving some constructive criticism?

  • The girl is cute though, not a great actor but I like fat pretty chicks with guns.

  • its real i saw the real dude erick and dlyin

  • lol scissors 61 nice

  • pretty good movie i like it

  • lol 4/20 hitler's b-day and weed day

  • hey in 4/20/99 are 2 boys.

  • I know I'm giving tough love here, but I actually like the film. I like the direction. But it's details like that (lack of delivery in real dialogue) that can make or break what could be a great review of any film. Always keep it in mind that every detail counts, no matter how seemingly minute it seems at the time.

  • Hi. I didn't say I didn't value criticism, nor that I didn't agree with yours. What I was saying was that as director I deliberately chose to have them play those lines more straight, and not loud and intoxicated as Eric and Dylan supposedly did. I felt that wouldn't have matched the tone of the film I wanted, which was more 'Elephant' and less 'Zero Day'.

  • And I think having them appear drunk out of context would have been strange, and I wouldn't have liked to see them holding a bottle of vodka as it would have smacked of cliche, even if it was historically accurate.

I haven't mentioned this in the description, but the film is a student film made for film school. It was made under a brief that asked us to make a film that mixed fact and fiction. That's why some parts are accurate and others are original.

  • Now I know that doesn't excuse poor delivery of dialogue, but the other thing not mentioned is that no-one in the film is an actor. The boy is played by my best friend, the girl is played by my cousin. Neither have any acting experience, my cousin had to learn the American accent on the day and struggled with it, which is evident in the film, but I think her visual, introspective performance was very well done (especially in the pregnancy test scene) for a first time acting.

  • Finally, I completely agree that it would have been better to do an entirely original film, but we were locked to the brief. This is why we DO plan to make an original version, which I've mentioned elsewhere on this board. It will be a British-set version (allowing them to essentially play themselves) about the first ever British school shooting on the scale of Columbine. It will be a feature-length film, and will be titled 'Never', because such a shooting has never happened, but inevitably will
