  • in my mind i always think of Ophelia when i listen to the thinner

    the air

  • THIS IS INTROVERTSONG *ORIGINAL MAKER OF THIS VIDEO* A person here by the name of ObsoleteOddity snatched this video of mine, put " she will destroy you" by C.T and is more than happy to mislead others into thinking that he/she made it. Never asked for permission. ':(

  • ''Motions aren't in the shape that emotions are....'' Pre-Raphaelite paintings and Cocteau Twins; human spirit at the fullest. Thank you so much for this video.

  • Because, the point was not solely to display these paintings, I wanted to finally see Cocteau Twins' music juxposed with Pre-Raphaelite imagery; the idea has always been my head.

  • The music is very ****ed up, why not choose a classical one?

  • @harbring For you, i took a look at my collection, and found that the first song is called Amelia. From the 1984 Treasure album. It's number 6.

  • I am a part/time pre/raphaelite enthousiast. By whom is the painting shown at 0:33? Thank you, in advance. Regards, Keimpe.

  • @Arthounot The piece is called Lady Godiva painted by John Collier c. 1897. You're welcome.

  • @harbring

--maker of video-- I did have your same sentiments in mind when making this video, I had made a comment just like yours earlier on. I think that Cocteau Twins' sound is much like what the P.R tried to accomplish visually: to transport to a time in when beauty (whether it be physical or figurative) was simple to access naturally. This, I believe was the remedy both parties used for the artistic desensitization of their day.

...Yes, I think that the internet can be a place to share.

  • Cocteau Twins and PreRaphaelites together....a great idea! I wanted to hear this song (1st one) and came online to find it and found your video. My two favorites together in one vid - what could be better?! Thank you.

  • Pre Raphaelite+ the art+Cocteau Twins ...both together in 1 video...oh bliss

  • very beautiful! Thank you

  • Excellent work!!! Truly inspiring!

  • omg I love William Waterhouse, actually his paintings inspired me to grow my hair (: I believe in the beauty standards from those paintings. Also I really like th Lady Godiva one, even tough I don't know who the author is :( but her hair in the painting reminds me of mine haahaha (: it makes me happy

  • @Sat9 - Is that a good joint? I remember my first one, too.

  • Great idea! I have loved both for years!

  • Beautiful music.

  • Haunting music that weaves well together, with the art of the Pre-Ralphalites.

  • Best Pre-Raphaelite tribute on here.

  • AMAZING!!

  • I wanted do send you a message but I have to be your friend first I see:D

It's so good to find another YT channel connected with promotion of long hair:) And I see we have the same long haired hero. JJJ is incredible, isn't she? :)

  • these are some of the most beautiful paintings ever created

  • Crap music, the Pre Paphaelites are turning in their graves

  • @nevanovna and you know that? haha

  • ...and Liz has eyes like Jane Morris...

  • Gorgeous. If I didn't know better, the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood could have been listening to Cocteau Twins while painting...

  • introvert you have proven your theory well, i can practically see the raphaelite paintings just by listening to the enchanting cries of the song

  • Very nice! I think we have a similar way of seeing things. If you look on my channel, I did something quite similar with "She Will Destroy You" from The Moon & The Melodies.

    Gorgeous, dreamy stuff.

    Thanks.

  • Please Please Please tell me the names of the songs?

    :-}

  • Sure... Amelia and fifty-fifty clown, don't know the meaning behind them though?

  • @Silverdewdrops9

    Amelia (on Treasure)

Fifty-Fifty Clown (on Heaven or Las Vegas)

  • WOW nice video! I love it, the album Treasure fits perfectly in this kind of paintings!

  • thank you for making me discover this

  • I will add Giorgio De Chirico to my favorites also, keep up the good work!

  • Excellent

  • i agree too. it's a good combination. they both have such a dreamlike quality to them.

  • Beautiful - I agree Cocteau Twins & Pre-Raphaelite art go well together! Actually - I appreciate that you're not overloaded with Rosetti works here...Thanks for sharing...

  • Wonderful both the song (Cocteau Twins) and fine arts!

    Thank you very much!

  • Thank you for this video, i'm in love with préraphaélites, they open the world of dreams

  • I adore PRB painters and I like Cocteau Twins... so a good combination, yes... although it's a pity that Rossetti hated music

  • This is an amazing combination - Cocteau Twins such a hauntingly beatuiful sound and the paintings are breath taking. Great Post.

  • Treasure totally blew me away when i first heard it and it still sounds amazing today.

  • Too bad the song and sound quality is poor. Otherwise...very nice images.

  • Gorgeous

  • if you have these pictures saved still could you email them to me? :o

  • It is so true, I always thought they work well together too, especially because of their Treasures album.

  • ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.............. ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...... i'm i in heaven or what?

  • Final fade from bent arm to hairline was inspired.

  • I'm glad someone saw that! there are so many other patterns and transitions I put in there to make the film flow. Thanks.

  • El mejor grupo para acompañar estas imágenes.

  • I could not agree more. What a perfect complement to one another.

  • good video i love pre-raphaelites expecially d.g. rossetti & waterhouse.thank you so much

  • Lovely...Who did the paintings of the red-haired woman in the boat, and the woman in the white dress with one breast bared, walking past a group of nudes, and what are they called? (These images appeared during the "Amelia" part of this video.)

  • The one depicting a lady in the boat is

Lady of Shalot by Alfred Lord Tennyson.

I don't know anything about the second one.

  • Waterhouse

  • splendid stuff

  • Wow this is really good!! Thx!

  • Can anyone tell me who painted the pictures at 405 and 506? They're gorgeous. I'd like to buy the prints.

  • The one at 4:05 is called Miranda- The Tempest and the one at 5:06 is called

Ophelia[blue dress] and they are both by John William Waterhouse

  • Thanks

  • Thanks

  • I like Cocteau Twins, Waterhouse, Rossetti, hughes and others painters, very beautiful video....

  • A door was opened, another was closed never to be opened again, or at least not by any key that could be found in this realm.

A point of demension from which one could see how far one's come and how far one need to go has come.

The 'I AM' has an incredible AGENT, and you had better believe it is like no other in the Universe...you can try to think you could catch it, but this being is everywhere one minute and no where the next..leaving smiles, and tears of joy where it's presense is felt.

  • yes! they're great. :)

  • Have you all seen The Twins/Rene Magritte montage? Check it out

  • nothing came up when I clicked Cocteau Twins and Rene Magritte together. I have seen some amazing rene ones with other music to it.

  • Hi, type in Cocteau Twins does Rene Magritte. Just checked for you

  • oh...that's my video. lol I thought you were refering to somebody else's work on youtube :P

  • whoops! good though isn't it.. :O)

  • ^_^ Thanks!

  • I'm always hoping that Liz Fraser will record and preform again!

  • heh, I wish they all got back together for a whole new album @_@

  • UNA BELLA VOCE!

  • Wich is completely irrelevant because you are a woman!!!! lol hahaha sorry XP

  • they do look masculine lol

  • You seem to like woman with really strong, masculine jaws...

  • Damn we used the same music!!!! what a coincidence!!! my paintings are better though.. ¬¬

  • Sorry. Did you load yours? I was looking through your profile and I didn't find a video like this. Can I see the video you're talking about? :)

  • beautiful slideshow with incredibly beautiful music to match. I have similar visions and images in my head when I listen to Cocteau Twins. btw, I just returned a few days ago from cocteaufest in new york city. it was wonderful and an awesome time. I finally got to share my love of this band with other cocteau fans.

  • I love Elizabeth Siddal! thank you Cocteau Twins 4 your magic music!

  • what´s the name of this song???please...

  • The first one is "Amelia", and the second one is "Fifty-Fifty Clown"

  • and there we go....

  • This simply works....it is art in itself.

In a way this was always going to happen and

    that is relevant in itself.

  • Thank you :) Cocteau Twins always created in my mind images much like what the pre-raphaelites tried to convey. I hoped that others had that same vision about their music and thought that they did but never spoke about it. SO, thanks again! :)

  • a collection of the best art..my favourite pre raphalite, a brotherood of artists whom got together in begining of 19th century..rosestti often depicted his wife in his paintings, waterhouse. Think their aim was to paint beautiful voluptious women,in different predicaments and emotions.some dipicting characters also of shakespeare, as in Ophelia..great music with fab paintings

  • what's cool here is that a band, whether they've said it or not, related so well to an artistic movent that came a century before them that was facing the same artistic dilema we face today. Cocteau Twins is like the musical equivilant to Pre-Raphealite art because they revive the idea of beauty and natural emotion in a VERY industrialised and jaded world. We're certainly lacking a depth of "art" in most of our music today.

  • Agreed.

  • mutually effective, a good dose of high culture in a mostly low culture medium....

  • A grand and magical era....excellent compilation.

  • merci beaucoup. c'est magnifique!!!

  • merci! ~_~

  • merci!

  • Great combination of music and art. Can someone comment on the art? Who are these artists and what period are they from?

  • some are by Rossetti and others by Waterhouse. The very second one is by an artist unknown to me.

  • Thanks, I am going to check out some books on the artists you reference.

  • Nice!... I always identified the Cocteau Twins and Pre-Raphaelites having as a similar aesthetic vibe myself. Very cool.

  • Sorry ppl,i ment i come near where they came from

  • thats really cool :)

  • Omg,I love the cocteau twins,I come from where they came from,my dad use2 be good friends with them!

  • Good job Introvertsong. A point well made by this clip of yours!

  • who dares PULL off this kind/type of music...how brave to you have to be.. I've seen liz on stage before and she seems ok and then a nervous wreck and then when you speak with her she's fine like she doesnt even make music like this... what gives......

  • It fits perfectly. You seem good at matching things aesthetically.

  • The first song is called Amelia! i've been searching for about two hours to know that, thanks!

  • Great idea!

  • }}} LIZ FRASER's talent is simply unsurpassed, almost otherWORLDLY! {{{

  • Amazing

  • They really do go well together - *****

  • whow its hard to choose one of my fav songss but i love that video version of that track thanks hugs from Brazil

  • Stuff like Wax and Wane does sound really good and I think Song to the Siren is one of my favourite songs, I guess I would have got into them more if I'd seen them live.

  • Thanks introvertsong!

  • Great pictures, I really like second music "fifty-fifty clown". But what name of first music???? I´m learning about Cocteau Twins.

  • The first song is called 'Amelia' and its on the 'Treasure' album which came out in 1984. Pandora, which is also in that album, was the first one that I heard, I found it by accident while I was downloading someother music. I really, really couldn't believe what I was hearing! :P I believe that finding Cocteau Twins was the best mistake of my life :)

  • Wow I haven't listened to Cocteau Twins in a long time! Great job on the compilation here!

  • :) thanks

  • I hardly ever listen to the Cocteau Twins, haven't really for about 20 years. Maybe I should

  • Great video, thanks!

  • This is a very nice video, it's in my favorites:)

  • TheAmazingTurd and this video is nothing but a pile of worthless crap!!!! Remove it, it's a damn embarrassment! Nothing but trash, just like TheAmazingTurd!

  • AHAHAHAH!! People only need to take a look at your favorites to know who is trash and who is not. Your a damn embarassment to humanity regarding your level of stupidity. Your even an embarassement to your fellow ignorant nazi friends!!

  • for FoundingFather: Why do you think I should remove this? and who is this an embarrassment to? Your comment, and lack of reason for it, comes out of nowhere.

  • thanks for everything, TheAmazingTurd :)

  • Hermoso.

  • ~_~

  • i love this song

  • I really liked your film....From someone who has been into the band since the early days.

  • I know this has nothing to do with your great video, but I just can't believe that the Twins consider the Treasure album to be "rubbish."

  • Nice idea.

But I think their music (or art to better say) was not only for the dreamy adolescent girls. This is rather mature and brave music with drive.

  • Magnificent images!

    Thank you for sharing.

  • Congratulations for the link between Cocteau Twins and Pre-Raphaelites. Well, there is also a link between the Cocteau and any kind of wonderful art. Well done! Thank you!

  • Thank you so much!
