I love the sounds they make. They sound exactly like how the Tripods from War of the Worlds are described as sounding.

Haven't seen/read it, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's where valve got the inspiration from. That reminds me, I think the striders are actually synths, half organic and half bot.

You are correct. But they lo0k more mechanoid than organic. They do have a certain arthropoidity to their funky selves. Since I included Dog as a 'Moden Citizen', I had to pick one or two mechanoids that were eeebil. XD

True. It seems a lot of the Combine designs are insect based, like the dropships.

The Strider lo0ks like a beetle (with half the legs). The Dropship is more like a crustaceanoid.
