Close is good enough with a 30mm. Every one of those rounds has a 5 meter kill radius. They might as well be grenades fired from 2700 meters away... They should have just called on a DAP in the first place and been done in one run, but that's just my opinion. But they got the job done, and that's what counts.

I seriously doubt that we are seeing the image as it truly is. It is zoomed out and blurred. With the hi-tech optics in those machines, we'd be blown away by the detail possible. I want to see what that gunner really can see from almost 2 miles away. (The hairs on their chinny, chin, chins?)

@MetaVita - Notice that it takes more than 3 seconds from the second the gun fires until the rounds hit... If something as fast as a bullet takes over three seconds to get somewhere, you know that's a FAR distance and distance affects accuracy.
Who the hell thought this was an AC-130? AC-130 circle their targets, and the beginning of this video clearly shows a hover. So obviously it's a helicopter.
The gunner states in this video that they are "2700 meters out." That's over 1 1/2 miles. That's not a short distance. As for the camera moving, I'm not sure why you brought that up since other videos of apaches show the same movement. Finally, the weapons sysetem sounds and acts exactly like the 30mm cannon an apache has equipped. Like I've said to ChaseSpeer, I can't be 100% positive since I wasn't there, but I'd be willing to bet a lot of money this is an apache.
This is an AH-64 Apache helicopter. You can tell by the rattle of the frame when the shooting starts.The 30mm machine gun on an Apache is located under the targeting camera, the shots create vibrations, visible as the rattle of the frame. The cyclic rate of fire is significantly slower than that of the 20mm gatling type, auto cannon that used to be used on AC130, and the distinctive TAT,TAT,TAT sound of the gun, is something you'll hear and recognize in every Apache attack video you'll ever see.

@mcwhizzkid123 caps really? if they were in a heli they woud be very easy to spot and loud. Flying a few miles up without jets make them very hard to spot. They can spy on the enemy before blowing them to peaces so that way no innocents are killed as well
@ChaseSpeer Actually, jets are very loud...even at high altitudes. Most helos can engage on a gun run from almost 2 miles away thus reducing the visibility of the helicopter. Besides, I'm about 99.9% sure this is an AH-64. If these are fighter pilots, they sure don't talk on the radio like fighter pilots and thier gun sounds alot like a 30mm.....Anyway, here's an example of a loud ass F-18 doing it's air support thing:

Yeah, definitely. That's why l think the Apache is more suited for close-range engagements, simply because it's impossible to shoot one down with small-arms before it kills you.
Despite its disadvantages, l still love the 30mm bushmaster though.
The U.S. isn't so much losing power as other countries are gaining. But as of now no one can compete militarily. Russia, China, and the EU navies combined would still get their ass kicked by the US navy, they reign supreme. And the ground forces depend on where the fight is at. A war on American soil and not even the greatest military genius could beat the U.S. Army + Marines+ National Guard+ local militias armed with civilian weapons. It would be a slaughter.

Hey, idiot, I was in the British Army so I know a bit, but I am not aware of that weapon capability, still think it was a waste of ammunition.
Also you forgot to mention that they were in an A130.
Most of those crews are trigger happy because Uncle Sam is very resourceful.
It was the wrong equipment for the job, Apaches could have done it far better even with the gun or rockets.

@MetaVita - Notice that it takes more than 3 seconds from the second the gun fires until the rounds hit... If something as fast as a bullet takes over three seconds to get somewhere, you know that's a FAR distance and distance affects accuracy.

Who the hell thought this was an AC-130? AC-130 circle their targets, and the beginning of this video clearly shows a hover. So obviously it's a helicopter.

The gunner states in this video that they are "2700 meters out." That's over 1 1/2 miles. That's not a short distance. As for the camera moving, I'm not sure why you brought that up since other videos of apaches show the same movement. Finally, the weapons sysetem sounds and acts exactly like the 30mm cannon an apache has equipped. Like I've said to ChaseSpeer, I can't be 100% positive since I wasn't there, but I'd be willing to bet a lot of money this is an apache.

This is an AH-64 Apache helicopter. You can tell by the rattle of the frame when the shooting starts.The 30mm machine gun on an Apache is located under the targeting camera, the shots create vibrations, visible as the rattle of the frame. The cyclic rate of fire is significantly slower than that of the 20mm gatling type, auto cannon that used to be used on AC130, and the distinctive TAT,TAT,TAT sound of the gun, is something you'll hear and recognize in every Apache attack video you'll ever see.

@mcwhizzkid123 caps really? if they were in a heli they woud be very easy to spot and loud. Flying a few miles up without jets make them very hard to spot. They can spy on the enemy before blowing them to peaces so that way no innocents are killed as well

@ChaseSpeer Actually, jets are very loud...even at high altitudes. Most helos can engage on a gun run from almost 2 miles away thus reducing the visibility of the helicopter. Besides, I'm about 99.9% sure this is an AH-64. If these are fighter pilots, they sure don't talk on the radio like fighter pilots and thier gun sounds alot like a 30mm.....Anyway, here's an example of a loud ass F-18 doing it's air support thing:

@rainbowsandmoccasins About 1.5 or 1.6 or so miles away. Yeah, so what? Like I said, that 30 mm is just about uselss. Couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. I mean, how much lead you going to expend shooting a couple of goofballs? I am not impressed. In cases such as this it seems it would be better to have a helo with a door mounted mini-gun. Let the Apache stand by with guided munitions in case the enemy throws up any AAA.....but I doubt that the enemy is going to sneak up on these guys.

The apache can engage at ranges up to about five miles if l'm not mistaken..
However, they're still effective at strafing runs and whatnot, because they can use their unguided salvos.

Yeah, definitely. That's why l think the Apache is more suited for close-range engagements, simply because it's impossible to shoot one down with small-arms before it kills you.
Despite its disadvantages, l still love the 30mm bushmaster though.

The U.S. isn't so much losing power as other countries are gaining. But as of now no one can compete militarily. Russia, China, and the EU navies combined would still get their ass kicked by the US navy, they reign supreme. And the ground forces depend on where the fight is at. A war on American soil and not even the greatest military genius could beat the U.S. Army + Marines+ National Guard+ local militias armed with civilian weapons. It would be a slaughter.
