  • @redSHIFT69 Unless you are joking... I can't believe you exist! I couldn't think of anyone to shout out loud, like you do: "I'm stupid, I'm a faggot, I'm a perfect sample of total ignorance, and I'm for ever lost!"

  • @skatesandoval Overturn or classical

  • Solid performance of this great work.

  • Lovely piece for the bassoon.

  • i looooooooooove this. great job!

  • As a bassoonist trying to play this, I am heavily considering throwing my bassoon at the wall.

  • @stayoutofmyhouse do it! save everyone the dreaded sound!

  • Why is everyone on here moaning about grammar? I bet Yoda enjoying Mozart was.

  • I find it interesting; that instead of commenting on the performance of the director. The critiques of this feed, tend to be preoccupied about grammatical errors and placement of words. I bet by the time I am done writing this, I will receive some form of rebuttal for my writing.

What i really would like to know; Out of all the orchestra on you tube. which perform this piece the best?

  • @michealcage Leveine or Lockheart they conduct mozart the best.

  • i hate everybody who hates classical music now

  • @classicalsrock

I hate people who use poorly placed modifiers

  • @funincluded What????? wat if modifiers??? im haveing bad blond moments

  • @classicalsrock

the way you placed "now" doesn't make sense

you hate everyone who now hates classical music

right now you hate everyone who hates classical music

right now you hate everyone who hates classical music right now

it was a joke about the quintessential mistake about word order

  • @funincluded To many big words!!!!!! and i know wat i mean

  • @funincluded As much as I appreciate the effort, I'm don't think the usage breaks any grammatical rules or confuses the meaning.

  • @RMMagill

What she said is confused/confusing, but my point was really just a joke about what gets on my nerves a little bit

...and your comment has the worst grammar ever :/ (but it looks like more of a typo)

  • @RMMagill

and btw my critique wasn't really about breaking a grammatical rule, but about it being a really poorly written sentence because of its confusing placement of words that does confusing the meaning

  • Thank you

  • Just watched the 1971 film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and Mrs TeeVee got it wrong! Mr Wonka doesn't play Rachmaninov to open the door into the Chocolate room... he plays this! I know it's pathetic but it was bugging the fuck out of me.

  • Excellent, cheers!

  • love to marry marybeth

  • trumpets are much too loud

  • I think this masterpiece more than any of his other works

demonstrates the brilliance and genius of Mozart. I never get

tired of listening to the glory and majesty of this music.

  • Amazing!

  • This has been compared to Hammer, Ashley, etc. There are definitely good contemporary artists and music, but classical is a completely different style. Begin classical doesn't guarantee it's great, of course. In any case, no reason why one can't enjoy both.

Mozart, however, is in a completely different class. Let's wait 200 years and see who remembers Hammer, Ashley, et al. As Hammer would say, 'can't touch this!'

  • Man, I had this song in my head for like a month, and I could not get it out.

I was actually writing some music when I thought it was finally out. Lo and behold, I finish writing it and listen to it played, and theres a bit that copies the melody from the overture.

To quote myself at that moment: "DAMN YOU MOZART!"

  • Is it true that this piece is known as the 'Eggtimer'? It is the perfect length and I'm sure I heard somewhere that it was. Just wonderful anyway, whatever it's called!

  • I love Dean Anderson. He brings alive the music, through his conducting.

  • thank you i think this is magic i practice card magic to this great music for hours.

  • mozart FTW

  • but the adagio is perfect for once

  • A, finally a version with some adagio...

  • Gut, gut ,gut!!!!

  • conductors amaze me

  • my orchestra is playing this for our spring concert. were going wayyyy to slow lol.

  • best overture i ever heard

  • Paladin~+~+~*

  • who in the movie said it was rachmanenkov?

  • That was in Charlie and the Chocolate factory. It always outrages me when that women hears it, and she's misnames it to Rachmaninoff. It's obviously Mozart!

  • it is great

  • At Nimitz High, were doing this concert that we call the prism concert, and each instrument has there on solo part and they come in by thereselfs no help. I play clarinet and I get to play the fast parts in it. Its awesome.

  • Haha, I've always wondered if it was Dahl who wrote that into the script. If so, I'd bet he's a Mozart fan!

  • this is the musical lock code in the 70s willy wonka film!

  • yes you've got that right man!

  • @cheesecakeisgod Finally my life is complete.....

  • We get to play this song this year in our band. we do not have strings so its all woodwinds doing the fast part =D (as a clarinet player, i am excited!!)

  • do u go to stuyvesant hs?

  • one of the best pieces ever !!!

  • Good morning Mr. Duke.

    Good morning Mr. Duke,

And so on.. and so on..

  • mozart is the best of world hahahahahha

  • I suddenly have this urge to watch trading places

  • ahahahahahaha

  • @corrupt200 LOL!

  • @corrupt200 my sentiments exactly.

  • @corrupt200 sure! every time i listen to this!

  • what a splendid piece of music. Bravo!!!

  • Oh my. I'm playing this in my strings class and we are performing it in one of our school's concert...

But, I did not know that it was going to be THIS fast... 0.o

A lot of work to do until December...

  • OMFG.

I'm playing this school with my orchestra and OMFG.

We're one of the best in the county, but holy crap that's fast.

    *goes off to practice*

  • I bet conductors make great dancers. just a theory

  • Worth the shot getting mine drunk :o ill post the link xD

  • nah. but i bet they have strong arms :P

  • @ericdup Ha I was just thinking that

  • @ericdup

lmao. my conductor break dances! :D

    haha.

  • @ericdup

    I couldn't possibly disagree more

  • @ericdup no.. make a great fools

  • @ericdup watch Riccardo muti conducting this, Beethoven's 5th and Nabacco overture then see who is the best conductor in the world im a conductor and i take him as my role model

  • @ericdup Sadly not true in my dad's case! :D He dances 'like a drunken spider' in his own words - I think it's because he has such long limbs that they get in the way...

  • simplesmente maravilhoso............Mozart o grande Gênio!!!!

  • If Mozart were alive today, even Kanye West would bow to him

  • Damn. That's sayin sometin.

  • Obviously, anyone who is on here listening to this NOT BY MISTAKE must be joking if he/she says there is any comparison between some "mc hammer" (whatever that is) or anything else and Mozart.

  • I've heard this tune before many times, only recently did I realize it's Mozart's! But I'm not surprised.. All best music is his

  • Beef jerky time!

  • yey - i'm not the only one who makes ths connection between the film and Mozart!

  • yess it may be bland compared to mc hammer, ashley simpson, and august burns red. but if mozart hadn't done what he did, music now would not be what it is. in hammers case it would be like: cant touch this! (cello breakdown)

  • Bland? Hah! Let the ignorant listen to Holst's "Mars, the Bringer of War", THEN let them decide if classical music is bland.

  • i'm pretty sure he or she's joking, seeing as how he/she quoted three terrible examples in comparison to a legend.

  • Bimbamboodle....DartmouthAlum96 is just pulling your leg(i.e joking). It's called sarcasm.

Mozart is always will be a legend.

  • This is pretty good, but it lacks the complexity and elan of MC Hammer's music.

  • What the hell are you on about!!

This is Mozart, the most beautifull music in the world.....are you tone deff or somthing.....you'd have to be to disagree with me on this.

  • Hey, I said it was pretty good. However, compared to real music prodigies like MC Hammer, Ashley Simpson, and Milli Vanilli, Mozart sounds bland.

  • ur joking right? pls tell me ur joking

  • He has to be joking if he listed MC Hammer, Ashley Simpson, and Milli Vanilli as musical prodigies. If he wasn't, then he seriously needs to get his ears checked.

  • And Vanilla Ice.

  • True dat

  • LOL !!

  • one of the reasons i am glad i have lived on this earth is the music of mozart

  • ^.^ Yay. This is soooo cool.

  • Great . The best of the . . . Music !

  • the script called for her to misidentify the composer. maybe as a commentary on the cultural influence of TV.

maybe you should've looked into that before posting your comment, jackass...

  • Excelente musique

  • perfect just perfect thank you

  • Spectacular!

  • Just a personal opinion, I believe this song was performed a bit too fast. Speed should never indicate virtuosity, and just because something is faster doesn't mean it's better. At 1:56, although the skill of the players is incredible, it sounds muddled due to the rate at which it is being played.

  • Good point, I suppose you prefer the much steadier Böhm rendition.

I personally think the tempo is as I like it but unfortunately the players couldn't take it which is why it finishes much slower than it starts - so in this instance I agree the tempo was too fast but only because of the players.

I still think it's a good performance and I do like the conducting style.

  • Yes, I do prefer the Böhm rendition.

As you brought up that it was the players that couldn't play it as fast... As a conductor, I've been taught to realize the relative strengths and weaknesses of those that I conduct. If the players couldn't handle the speed, then the conductor should slow the rest of the piece down to accommodate for the part that has to be played slower. I've always felt that a steadier performance is better than being able to play some parts really fast.

  • I agree - as a conductor you can only take it as fast as your players can proficiently manage. I would never take the piece too fast then gradually let the players slow it down because they can't cope - the tempo needs to be consistent; being a Karajan follower however I generally prefer the quicker tempo.I am only a conducting student though and am conducting this (and other excerpts from the same opera) for my exam on Friday which is why I try to be critical of everything I see and hear...

  • Well, I wish you the best of luck in your exam. You seem to be knowledgeable enough to do well, and the more orchestras you see conducted, the more ideas you get for creating and nurturing your own technique for conducting.

Once again, good luck with your exam.

  • Is this the life you want to pursue? To be honest, even though I love classical music, not many people would listen to it. The only people who listens to it are people who actually play it.

  • Comment removed

  • @ariadarabi "Not many people listen to this" Seriously, have you done the math? Add up all the people who have listened to Mozart for over 200 years all over the planet (not to speak of the rest of the classical repertoire), multiple times, multiple recordings, performances, student practices, and so on, and consider that billions more will do so in the future. Tell me how that compares to most contemporary music (not that it's bad - some of it is actually very good).

  • Simply astonishingly preformed

  • Toscanini on cello!

  • I have loved this since I was three when I first heard it on Trading Places in 1983. See? TV isn't all that bad!

  • people.shut it on youtube. so annoyinggg

  • The man who wrote the book was highlighting different forms of ignorance, Mrs TV is just another form.

Much in and of reality is restated in Fantasy and Science Fiction in metaphor, to get it past censorship.

  • or maybe it was an intentional mistake.

  • why do I have the feeling the sound is a lil bit slower than the image?

  • perhaps its the conductor's ictus. orchestral conducting has the beat set on a different spot I think, rather than at the bottom of the movements...i think

  • not all folks making videos understand how to set them up to synch properly on youtube. good news is there are youtube videos on the subject. lol

  • its alright this peice, when i was like 12 i played this piece evryday, im so sick of it now!

  • the trumpet is a little too loud in parts, but this is an amazing piece.

  • Concerto for trumpet and orchestra. It says on the score, duh.

  • wow, you're an idiot. either that or you have absolutely no understanding of music. perhaps both are true?

  • Comment removed

  • Perhaps you just called someone an idiot over youtube? Congratulations.

Anyway, a concerto by definition is a three-part musical work in which one solo instrument is accompanied by an orchestra.

    lrn2google.

  • you can be sarcastic. congratulations. anyway, i never argued the definition of concerto, your own misguidance and ignorance led to you assume this. any competent musician will tell you that a reckless soloist can take away from a piece by playing too loudly in the wrong parts. even when they are supposed to be the focus.

    lrn2beintelligent

  • I was not misguided. You were just vague, and your trolling remarks don't help.

I consider myself a competent musician, and I do understand that orchestral pieces are meant to be played as a whole.

However, assuming you aren't musically challenged, your original comment doesnt show it.

  • yes, because one is required to include a lengthy "here's why" analysis when making an extremely simple observation of a youtube video. i realize now that saying "the trumpet is a little too loud in parts" without further explanation was irresponsible. i'll make sure to be very detailed in all of my posts from now on, lest any additional morons get confused and upset.

  • I was just making a joke. I think I am aware that this is an Opera Overture and not a concerto... in fact I just saw a performance of the entire Opera at UCLA a week or two ago. It was VERY good. You should have heard them do this overture...

  • Your sarcasm pisses me off...

  • Comment removed

  • HOLY SHIT! That cellist is moving all over the place! Rofl

  • bahahah I just got that. Brilliant comment.

  • This is the best version I have ever heard, the conductor interpreted this piece amazingly.

  • Our High School is playing this song in New York! :)

  • GTA Liberty City Stories

  • That's a blooming hard piece for wind... Well played by the bassoons!

    Nice sound! :)

  • can we please keep this about music rather than point scoring i loved this video thank you to all concerned xxxx

  • beautiful so prefer the string to the wind xxxx

  • I listened to the whole piece and enjoyed it tremendously, then afterward was shocked to see it was played by an 8th grade band! Wonderful playing!!!

  • No its not played by an 8th grade band. Look at the bloke just to the left of the conductor. You say he he in the 8th grade????? Get real you dumb yank git!!

  • He stayed back a few times...

  • Wow, I searched up this song after watching your video, and I see a comment from you on the video I found! How ironic, lol.

  • Yeah, I used this video learn the song.

  • incredible editing skills on the video!

  • Yeah awesome job on your last vid.

  • HAHAHA same as me Lol

  • me too

  • This wasn't played by an 8th grade band, this is the Rose Chamber Orchestra.

  • I see that now and couldn't believe it anyway. I had read another comment that must have been a joke or I read it wrong. Thanks Jourell1 for your reply. Sweepbrock?? Hmmm...don't have a lot of thanks for you.

  • Sorry to be so ignorant, smcamden. Had a bad day at the office and was in a crappy mood. Please accept my apologies.

  • this is the middle school honor orchestra audition piece

    and thats my orchestra conductor

  • best overture for an opera ever written!

  • hey!!!.....its the IYCA conductor guy

  • Is it just me, or does the comment box on this video just seem to be a place to brag about one's own orchestra playing this piece?

No one cares about masked bragging on a youtube comment box.

That said, I really dislike his conducting. His left hand is completely useless and all of his beats fall in the same spot.

  • What? Seems fine to me, this is a great rendition.
