  • is this a comedy or a serious movie i can't tell

  • In over 40 years of brilliant film making the only mistake that Martin Scorsese has made was putting Cameron Diaz in this movie. I mean in a movie directed by probably the greatest director alive, and with 2 of the greatest actors of our time in it, its hard to look bad. But she still managed to do it

  • challange accepted before it was cool

  • This trailer doesn't even begin to do the movie justice.

  • I would watch this for DDL not for Leo

  • watched this movie yesterday. #scarred for life

  • this is a great movie

  • rofl lame movie, wait for ghost rider 2 instead :D

  • terrible irish accents

  • 1:44 CHALLENGE ACCEPTED???

  • what yr is this set in... all it says is in the begining

  • @tsevidejong says 1846

  • seen he movie it was sad in the end

  • Does anyone else think that Gangs of new York was better than The Departed?

  • challenge acepted 1:44

  • @MrVLoggerX so ?

  • this is how the Bloods and Crips started

  • @Bigdiallo would've been better if they stuck to no pistols... straight melee styles... too bad gangs have nothing but guns...

  • @frankwallace36 then there will barely be any gangs because most of them are pussies

  • @Bigdiallo this was "natives" vs Irish Immigrants...and black americans are killing each other which is fuckin stupid

  • @Kunwooyoon who asked you smart ass i don't give a fuck if it was Natives or "irish"

  • @Bigdiallo umad bro? :D

  • @Bigdiallo no this is how it would be if white people lived in the hood instead of black.

  • Watch the film "The cross and the switch blade" on here youtube, it is a true story of how a country preacher from Pennsylvania tamed some of the toughest gang members in New York during the late 1950s. His most famous convert was Nicky Cruz a brutal 19 year old gang leader who had stabbed many people and been involved in some of the most vicious of gang battles. Nicky Cruz went on to found the Christian charity Teen Challenge which helps youths stuck in drug and gang culture.

  • 2 words.

    The Butcher.

  • One of Scorcese's worst projects...

  • @pacoiec Your stupid. The end.

  • my favorite movie <3

gotta love cameron diaz and leonardo dicaprio <3

  • @xBilabong69x NOT Daniel Day Lewis?

  • ermmm ummm his not my favorite actor, cameron diaz is my favorite actress, and i like leonardo @SoulBloodAlchemist

  • @emmidignam well the irish got them back didn't they, I am irish as well and I for one like the film. It shows people how tough and gritty the Irish are and how much they had to go through for future generations to live here. I mean, this movie is about the irish mob, and the irish prevail in the ends, because the irish mob wins!!! :)

oh, and we do know how bill poole died, he was killed by a member of John Morrisey's irish mob :)

  • @Birdoisbeast and the irish version lol!!!!

  • This a trailer or a summary?

  • @FawxNewbz Americans have forgotten this time period,as not that much is written bout the five points at this time...its a gangstermovie and although it´s not perfect cause of its ending, the cinematography,Schoonmakers brilliant editing, the settings, the decision to show violence for what it is,in true Scorcese style,he doesnt try to be a crowdpleaser...was Goodfellas also just ABOUT violence and gore? This is a great, misunderstood film and Scorsese deserved his Golden Globe for best director.

  • @FawxNewbz GONY has a storyline.U pretty much missed the point if U feel its ABOUT violence n gore....it has a storyline but it really doesn´t have a plot,The Departed was the first Scorcese film to really have a plot.It says a few things,it effectively makes the line between antagonist n protagonist pretty blurry, there are no good people here, theyre just people. It shows how primitive, brutal n filthy the great city of NY was about 150 years ago,a lost n "forgotten"era never depicted on film.

  • crip niggas vs blood niggas

  • @MyRealDad yea but 200 years ago lol

  • This is an amzing movie. Like the older more violent version of The Godfather. Perfectly executed. Love this movie.

  • old crips N bloods LOL XD

  • mad eye moody

  • @FawxNewbz It's History! Omg..

  • thumps up if ur watching this is 2011

  • @brawlerZ09 im watching this in the year 2021.

  • @brawlerZ09 shutup

  • @ajdp1995 no thanks :D

  • @brawlerZ09 2012 mutherfucker

  • IRISH PRIDE LONG LIVE THE DEAD RABBITS!

  • 3 people are muslims

  • Doesn't anyone like King of New York, an 1990 film? Christopher Walken rocks there.

  • 3 people are frenchified

  • and this is how the legacy of RED vs BLUE started! haha

  • holy shit ny was like that in the 1860

  • @jayko271 well that part of NY was, it was a slum, one of the worst in the world, even Charles Dickens who had lived in London and seen the slums there was disgusted with the Five Points.

  • That time the Bloods and Cripz were born

  • Those damn fuckers removed the movie

  • who eva took the movie off iz bitch

  • Might be the best trailer ever made....the intro, the score...ON MY CHALLENGE!! How can that other trailer have 4 times as many views? It´completely misses the point of the story, the first scene is the key to the whole movie....

Brody got an oscar instead of Daniel...insane. Guess that´s because his acting was so extremely, mindblowingly amazing that they put him in the leading actor category.

The butcher might be but I see him as the leads antagonist...or maybe he is a leading...fuck it.

  • It was around this time when Leonardo DiCaprio crossed over a new threshold, and became a true leading man.

  • Daniel Day-Lewis's Best Performances:

    1.There Will Be Blood (2007)

    2.My Left Foot (1989)

    3.Gangs of New York (2002)

4.The Last of the Mohicans (1992)

5.In the Name of the Father (1993)

  • It's a damn shame this movie has such a bed rep. In my opinion it's amazing!

  • Arrrghh I hope this movie is good. The trailer looks kinda shite, and even cheesy. Which is rare for a leading Dicaprio film. Don't let me down Leo!!! Your my fav

  • @93MgMadmanu do know this movie has come out and is an awsum movie...............

  • such a badass movie!

  • DAT TOP HAT

  • DICAPRIO=LEGEND OF OUR GENERATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great movie. Too bad Diaz is in it

  • @Roadball She didn't fuck it up this time, so no complaints here.

  • @LightStijn I completly agree with you. I bought this movie dvd yesterday cos I am #1 fan of dicaprio and kate winslet. To be honest I didnt like cameron diaz but after I watching the mask with jim carrey and diaz she was the hottest girl on earth and began to respect and like her much more than before.I dont shit care if ppl say she is ugly. I am glad she did play with dicaprio and winslet one of the movie together. One for this and the holiday. I hope dicaprio&diaz to play romantic comedy! hehe

  • @Roadball Great movie. Too bad YOU post rude comments on youtube

    love leo <3

and also does cameron and leo get together in this one?

  • @nachocomm he doesnt die in this film =]

  • Bill never died during the draft riots, he died after a bar fight years.

  • im gona watch this tonight

  • i cannot get over about how much i love this movie..

  • @blitzdatmaul me too

  • Seems like alot of trailers give away the movie. They show the main parts.Kind of like saying long story short but in a preview.

  • Seems like alot of trailers give away the movie. They show the main parts.Kind of like saying "long story short" but in a preview.

  • trailers are one of the best parts of going to the movies, i fuckin love long trailers that show alot, people can hate it but i love it!

  • The Jenny character was wasted on Diaz. They should have got Drea de Matteo - somebody with grit!

  • Once again a trailer is showing too much...

  • No offensive it's your opinion against mine, but if you'll remember Jackie Brown does not let violence get in the way, because it is not a original movie, the screenplay was adapted from a novel by Elmore Leonard, called "Rum Punch"

  • I'm sorry for fans of this movie, but this trailer sorta looks shitty :/

  • @Fox3yes25 its not that bad i've seen worst.

  • Yes it does...

    No comparison to the film

  • One of my favorite movies of all time

  • someone can tell me the soundtrack that begin at 0 : 20

  • Dionysus by Jocelyn Pook

  • No it don't.

  • Though I respect your opinion, I'm going to have to disagree. Quentin Tarantino's movies don't really let violence get in the way at all. When I think of Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, etc etc. I'm not thinking of the guns being fired or the swords being swung, I'm thinking about the dialogues between his characters. The way a seemingly pointless conversation can speak volumes about a character or set some footing to help strengthen a future scene. Once again, just my opinions.

  • @Nik565 dude you realize reservoir dogs and pulp fiction were tarantino's masterpeices before he became to successful. now all we get from him is scenes of uma thurman lopping heads off, with buckets of blood, or watching brad pitt scalp nazis in all the gory detail. APART from the brilliant bar scene in inglorious bastards, he is career has been downhill since he made pulp fiction. he is pretty much like shyamalan, huge sucess=spoiled director=shitty movies not as good as the sucess itself.

  • why do you think QT lets violence get in the way of the storyline? His stories are all amazing, in my opinion. Also, his movies aren't as violent as they seem upfront... Aside from Kill Bill, most of the killings take place off screen. Scorsese's films are definitely more violent that Tarantino's Watch Jackie Brown and tell me that violence gets in the way of the story line again.

  • the trailer isn´t nearly ass good as the movie

  • thats what i just thought

  • Daniel Day-Lewis is amazing =D... robbed of his oscar for this

  • Letuth beginuth thee "Invalid arguments glitch" era.

  • this really happened in america back in the 1800's

  • That's why i like this movie. It told me something i never heard about. That Hell-Cat Maggie, she was all real.

  • film could have been better. some scenes were pointless. lewis is a gem to watch as usual. if not for the historical aspect..wouldn't have enjoyed it as much.

  • what a fucking little queer

  • i dont fucking care so why dont you piss off and comment someone else. are you really so pathetic that you need to write silly little comments to pass the day away??

  • That was life back then, you should learn about it instead of running away from it.

  • What can i say? I just love this wonderfull movie. A lesson how can make cinema.

  • that really happened

  • this movie was fukin epic

  • story of my life

  • Comment removed

  • amazing movie...

  • can sombody please put this awsome film on youtube!!!!!!!!!!

  • this movie was THE SHIT

  • tat movie is so awesome!

  • The best movie ever.

  • mmmmmm cameron dias

  • This film was, basically,a docudrama.Daniel Day Lewis's charater, the Butcher, was based on Bill Poole.Leader of the Bowery Boys Gang. Many agreed that this is as historically correct a portrayal of Bill Poole as you can get.His attitude towards Catholic Irish immigrants. That he killed the first Irish Sheriff of New York. That he died during the Draft Riots.(It's not known how he died)Not just a great movie, but an excellent look back to those times, and the men and attitudes that shaped the times.

  • @Taranau

I just checked that out on wiki, fuckin' scary to think that a guy like that actually existed !

  • @steveN111333 Um...no. The character for Bill was made up,fictional.

  • @ultimatesupermario ... You'll need to tell that to Scorcese, then...I saw him in a televised interview, on one of the morning news shows, explaining how he basically did with this movie---what Cameron had done with Titanic---he made up characters to move alongside actual historical people. He said, in the interview, that The Butcher was based mostly on Bill Poole---a Protestant anti-immigrant leader of one of New Yorks many gangs of the time---who took credit for killing the leader of;

  • the Irish street gang, The Dead Rabbits and the first democratically elected Irish Sheriff of New York City... He said, that it was not known how Bill Poole died, but that a lack of mention of him after the Draft Riots implied that he'd died during the riots...

  • @Taranau I agree...this film really represents what it was like to live back in those days. I don't think it's the film that's violent, it's the time period.

  • @Taranau he was actually assassinated like 6 years before the draft riots,

  • @Taranau William Poole was assassinated in 1855 by I think John Turner and some friends of his.

  • @mishgadish James Turner

  • Love this movie!

  • First Comment! Brilliant!

I love this film...the Butcher is my favourite character
