Indeed. As well as no official separation of church and state.

In some ways we are more socially progressive - decriminalizing marijuana so its a fine (like a speeding ticket) unless its over a certain amount. And Same sex marriage is legal as of 2005.

In other ways - anti hate speech laws, no official church+state separation, requiring the signature of the Queen (or her representative), and officially the queen being the head of state, are regressive.

@whitetower67 That's not true really true - we do as far as public rallies that incite violence, however, in media we can use language that can't be used on public airways in the U.S., check Reporters Without Borders, "Press Freedom Index." America's FCC organization has strict guidelines on the words that people can use on public airways that are more stringent than those in Canada.

Hitchens correctly recalled the lines in, A Man for all Seasons, but More was actually speaking to his future son in law. More also turned out to be a real prick. It was a good movie all the same
