  • I just cried every time when I watched this part of Macross

  • thx 4 the post. this is the only way to watch ani: "sub"

  • Don't let the bronies find this!!!!

  • @lutzdify +1 internet. I can't make any promises, though... You'll have to pay me to keep my mouth shut.

  • @Digolgrin What do you mean by +1 internet?? :I

  • @lutzdify Internet thing. It's given whenever someone makes a relatively clever post. I understand I may have failed my judgement of "clever", but you've made a valid point.

  • @Digolgrin Ok. As for the "I can't make any promises" part, are inferring that you'll gossip it all about or are you a brony yourself?

  • @lutzdify Just saying I know of someone who IS. Never was one myself. I mean, look at my avatar! I'm a Spyro fan for cryin' out loud! Just you saying not to let 'em find this was enough to tempt fate... Which is technically me, to make that analogy true.

  • So, plotwise, is THIS song supposed to be from the protoculture race? :O

  • @lutzdify

    Yes.

  • @zvermilyer3 Yes to what!?????

  • @lutzdify

Yes, this song is supposed to be from the Protoculture race.

  • I just watched this movie again yesterday after so long. 懐かし~ :)

  • If you want to watch the TV series, make sure it is SDF Macross not the junk Robotech!

  • Macross - DYRL? should be licensed and give a decent English dub(of course with Mari Lijima as Minmay).

  • @Mythteller I think we should watch anime with original Japanese seiyu instead of dubbed which is missing the essence of watching anime...

  • @honeylee10 YES you should. DUBBED anime is not really anime.

  • so shit macross shit!

  • omg, my childhood ;_;

  • Do You Remember Love?

    Yes I Do Lynn Minmay!

  • @lancerhammer Same! The title of this song alone is epic.

  • un clasico por siempre

  • macross was my childhood...EPIC!

  • i love this song and have it on my mp3 player

  • Inolvidable Saga de Macross fantastica pelicula.

  • I love macross สุดยอดมากกๆครับบบบบบบบบบบ

  • Es sin lugar dudas uno de los mejores momentos de la historia del anime.

  • 5:40 - 5:41 (be quick to pause)... the budweiser missile :O

  • The GREATEST anime movie of all time. If you have a friend who is on the fence for anime - show him this. Robots, lasers, aliens, love triangles, best friends, backstabbing, politics, and space ships and singing. It is anime's greatest example of being eveything and doing it excessively 80's. As in Awesome.

  • Lynn Minmay = Hatsune Miku

    Macross = Google

    Vrlitwhai = Apple

    Zentradi = Korea (Samsung)

  • @CrimeAvenger2 You can not compare to a great singer with a software.

  • all hand drawing... just insane.

I wish they make something like this again with the latest technology.

  • The song, the emotion, the action...the love...truly a great anime...this clip sends chills up and down my spine every time.

  • MACROOOOOS!!!!!

    Fuck You ROBOTECH!!!!

  • woah just read the description in beginning; RIP moment of silence

  • Feels like I heard this song this song before; did someone make a remake of it?

  • Dyrl the ranka ver. is good but Minmeis is better

  • @teatimeoclock

at the end of 2012? lol

  • I am helping my friend learn Japanese. She wants to learn this song by the end of the year. I imagine to sing to her love.

I know she will see this. Thumbs up for inspiration!~ I love you, Kayleen~ ^-^/

  • Freaking beaultiful.

  • I saw the Bud missile but what's the goofy cartoon character??

  • @179107199999 that is a shochu can missle: a japanese distilled beverage .. precisely tako(octpus) shochu . but i guess it doesn't taste like octpus maybe just a product character of SUNTORY .. you can find its pics by putting サントリータコハイinto Google picture search.

  • omg there are very high quality of art works

  • Nice! I always loved this movie and this song, and it looks even way better in Hi-Def!

  • Thanks to this video, I finally caught the Budweiser can missile at 5:41 c: Thanks so much for posting, I love this song!

  • I cried because it was so beautiful. Thanks for uploading.

  • i can only say, october 2nd 1982 we wont forget

  • This has got to be one of the most perfect moments in anime ever...

Gets me to tear up every time.

  • The plot really didn't make sense, but it was fun to see a love triangle with giant lesbians trying to killing humanity.

  • This is the Most Romantic scene ever! It is the BEST Directed Anime EVER. Macross the movie set a high standard that IMHO has not been topped yet! Every Shot every motion has meaning and purpose. This just gets better and better overtime. Sends Chills down my spine when ever I hear Do You Remember Love and Watching this scene. Thanks for Posting!

  • Im hearing so many MS08th sound effects LOL

  • @ForFoodHeThought Sunrise never forgets what beams sound like.

  • Damn even after VF-25 was invented, the full armored VF-01 still looks amazing

  • 5:40 The legendary Budweiser missile.

  • @FSXVV

The concept of getting fucked up by rocket propelled beers is amusing.

  • this song always sends chills down my spine each time I hear it. Love it! love her HAUNTING voice she has.

  • @wolgreth Me Too! I also tear up a little...

  • I love at 2:07 how the guys head gets perfectly cleaved off by falling debris...

  • wait wait how can three people actually hate this song?

  • El dibujo animado con el que hiciste adulto =)

  • This is much more brutal and detailed than in the TV series.

  • como diablos no he bajado esta cancion nunca? XC la tengo en un video de conexion manga dvd nunca habia reparado en los hermosa que es!! LOVE MINMAY!!

  • my favourite japanese animation ever.

  • Man. I remember watching this as a kid when it was called Clash of the Bionoids. Brings back memories, though it was not even a fraction near as good as the orginal.

  • childchood comes back *_

  • Anime Ultra Classic right here.. I love this movie so damn much it's not even funny... The art and detail was just amazing.. I enjoyed anime so much more when there was no computers around to do all the work.

  • I love coming back to this song; back to the series- 'coz it feels very much like coming .... HOME

  • @warl0ck2 lol alot of anime shows do that. specially old ones like this

  • This is how to end a war, with one song.

  • Man this movie was such a charm. Such a nice childhood memory. I remember the shivers shooting down my spine when Ranka sang this in the final episode of Frontier.

  • english version sucks so much...

  • I enjoy macross and robotech, heck robotech introduced me to the rest of the Macross series

  • This is one of the best and most emotional animes EVER. And this song is one of the best songs out of anything, movie or series.

  • Thanks for posting this! I have a cd with two remixes of this song, but I've never been able to find the original version so I could hear how it was originally supposed to sound. Thanks again :)

  • Greatest anime movie in history.

  • This era seemed to be a lot better than the later Macross creations...great spirit!

  • I prefer the original as intended Macross version versus the english language version by a wide margin. However, purists should keep in mind that the english version was many ppl's introduction/entrace into that world and condemning them for knowing it as RObotech isn't going to gain anyone to your side of the argument. I envy the ppl who get into Macross nowadays because finding the original is helluva lot easier now than it was back in the 80s. At least most by now know the original version

  • and can get it now as it was meant to be. Just like Gatchaman, Speed Racer, Tranzor Z and half a dozen other anime's that were brought over here in the 80s. The originals are a lot easier to get these days but had it not been for those imports in the 80s and earlier that wouldn't necessarily be.

  • Who gives a rats ass ,sori

  • Bro I don't know what the fuck all this shit about robo some shit and macross I just started watching frontier and I thought should read up.so gives a rats ass

  • I find it ironic that a movie/series who's moral was based on surmounting hatred and violence and reaching for a better tommorow spawned fan bases that argue, with some vicious viggor I might add... which one is better or came first.

You cheapen your love for these things if you dont take in the morals that you enjoyed seeing so much.

  • there are many legendary anime scenes in history, this is def one of them

  • very cool

  • I really like her voice.

She can sing pretty in tune without autotuning like most modern music

  • much better than the english version. My ears bled every time I listened to that.

  • son bknes los monos chinos

  • ohhh yeah, it's great. Macross Frontier's version is nothing compared to this.

  • Macross FOR THE WIN. No show has a place like this in my heart.

  • anyone know where I can find a list of the Macross series in order? It seems like the kind of show that you have to see all the series to truly appericate it.

  • @ylady

    Here's a list:

    The Super Dimension Fortress Macross

    Macross Plus

    Macross 7

    Macross Zero

    Macross Frontier

  • i love you so,Minmay

  • ....kato kazuhiko died in my birthday ; w :

  • I've known about this song and the movie for a long time, but the first time I've actually heard it play was Frontier's (Ranka's) version.

  • I almost feel bad, after watching this movie, for calling the Minmay in the series a self-centered bitch. Almost, but then I watched the series again and remembered why I did in the first place. God I love Macross/Robotech/ whatever you wanna call it cause names don't matter, it's all awesome.

  • PROTOCULTURE!

  • @ROBOTECHTEHBEST Hm, you know what? I'm not going to bother deleting your comment nor blocking you. I'm going to welcome you here and allow the fans, who enjoy both Macross and Robotech, to pick you apart - unless you're willing to open up to an argument and state your ground like everyone else. Until then, I hope trolling pays you well.

  • @Tomnuki LOL cool response. It's perfect ^^

  • @Tomnuki @robotechthebest robotech the best? u are high

  • @Tomnuki

in his defense compared to the new macross that we have, with state of the art animation this looks bad. but it will always have a special place in my heart.

  • la mejor pelicula de anime de la historia

  • And that's why I LOVE macross series

  • rty

  • Ever the anthem of hope, peace, and love.

    Viva Protoculture!

  • sin palabras

  • por dios que cancion mas linda !!!! =.)

  • dayum, poor guy just trying to watch his jpop. imagine if a airplane robot just bust out of your screen right now and shot you. so rude.

  • did u know in this movie...the date of when they sign the peace treaty and the big battle...was September 11....but the year is like distance future..but this movie was made before.

  • @jetlorider I could have sworn it was in 2012 as the megaroad ships leaves with Minmei Hiro and company to colonize the galaxy and is never heard from again. Thats what the movie remember 2012 was all about was them final battle leaving earth and Minmei reminiscing. Or perhaps it was signed in 2012 and the ship left in 2014 I can't remember if that was it or if 2014 is when the macross 7 ship left with the first planet ship for colonization. memorys alittle fuzzy.

  • you people need to stop the macross vs. robotech bullshit. either way you're watching the single best and most influential scene in the history of anime. and that's a fucking fact.

  • @protomanhasballs

I always figured the mindfuck of end of eva was more influential, but then again im not from japan so lol the fuck do I know

  • @protomanhasballs I dont know about that but its up there with the Star Wars Trench Run in epic sci fi movie scenes. I grew up with Robotech but I have come to love much of Macross too. Much because 7 is... erm.

  • @protomanhasballs I heard that! Macek just added more of a soap opera twist, making a long continuous story. Either way, it seemed like all 3 cartoons were destined to be one great combined cartoon.

  • the legendary pilot, roy focker!

  • hahaha XD 2:06

  • This is the pinnacle of what the Macross storyline is about, how love and basic culture and humanity has been lost and is returning. Please don't speak of this scene otherwise, because Macross is pretty much based on this ending.

  • Battle tech/ Mechwarrior is traditionally what people tend to want whenever this debate comes up in the west but Macross started it and was a mid afternoon meladrama sp? Robotech was a cobbled together farce and Mechwarrior Battletech books/ products are what is wanted. Gundam is closer to the mark I suppose but it always feels like space dragonball never really cared for it. As far as western products go I wish Battletech would get some love soneone can dust it off and make money.

  • can a Robotech fan like me who has been enjoying anime since 1980 watch and enjoy the best macross video without having his intelligence insulted by rabid macross fanboys stating opinion like fact? I for one am thankful there are two separate universes Robotech and Macross more for me to enjoy. When I first was able to see Macross I was like hell yeah! I can relive this story in a whole new fashion. You see things are more fun when people aren't so anal retentive about cartoons.

  • @plecster210 I havent gotten irrate about the two I just hate when robotech gets accolades for this or that when it didn't do anything but repackage resteal and redistribute. They should have made something new and anyways the Battletech/Mechwarrrior got the better end of the deal with help from studio Nue's on designs and what not. If you wanted origional content that is good I reccomend those books and or products. (Not sure who owns umm these day probably WOTC like everything else)

  • Oh to all the if it wasn't for robotech nonsense threads if it wasn't for Macross we wouldn't have the genre it spawned period that whole anime dynamic is purely Macross in nature so again credit where credit is due.

  • Such as in Macross 7 "Do You Renmeber Love" is refernced as a movie dramatization of what actually happened in the war, and then again in Macross frontier they make references to Macross 7,1 and even make a made for tv movie based on Macross 0 but using the characters from frontier for the roles in 0. Which was a very cool tip of the hat that they've done in each series to prior series dispite the gaps in time and space to the idols of each respective fleet.

  • Robotech was an 80's lie and I agree with the comment about it being the equivalent to starwars trek and galactica being mashed together. credit is due where it is and Robotech was crap that served a purpose and thats it it is not origional by a long shot but nothing but plagarism at its finest. That being said its funny how in the other macross series things get referenced.

  • @hermitzl we live in a mash-up, remix culture.Robotech was aheaqd of it's time, credit was given to Tatunoko studios. Macross character development was shallow. DYRL is as I said dreamlike but Robotech characters behave like new BSG characters in a realistic conversational dialogue not stilted formal literal translations. aside from this song Macross OST is boring Ulpio Minucci score for Robotech is as good as Ennio Morricone's works. HIs use of synthesizer w/ orchestra was ahead of it's time.

  • @hermitzl

Why would "Star Wars", "Star Trek" and "Battlestar Galactica" being mashed together be a bad thing? As a huge fan of all three series, I would LOVE to see that!

  • ALIENS: OHGODMAKEITSTOPARGGHHHHHHHH!

    KABOOM

  • This is the best anime soundtrack ever

  • This has to be one of the greatest movie scenes of all time, not just animations but all movies.

The power of music wakes up the long buried memory of love, and the memory of love bridges the gap between races in deadly conflict...

If only we can have such a beautiful and powerful song in real life.

By the way, backing up such a beautiful song with an epic war scene (yes, the picture back up the song, not the other way round) was romantic violence at its extreme.

  • Is this on dvd.

  • An anime gem!! Thanks.

  • Robotech was created because Macross did not have enough episodes to meet US broadcaster requirements for a series back in the'80s. It was a brilliant idea to merge Macross with 2 other short series to make one good anime series that opened the US market up to this art form. If it weren't for Robotech, anime might never have made it to the US.

  • @Vagabond1997 agreed

  • Meanwhile...

HOLY SHIT, THAT DUDE'S HEAD GOT CUT OFF!!!

  • @ChaosForYourWorld dude old school anime was hardcore as fuck

  • Macross better

  • Ok I have a question...if Max is now Zentraedi sized does that mean his awesomeness increased proportionately too?

  • This is a beautiful song, makes me tear up. I am going to memorise it :)

  • 1982-2012...the 30th Anniversary of Macross is next year.

I have a good feeling Big West, Studio Nue, and Shoji Kawamori will come up with something EPIC and satisfying.

    Yahk, deculture.

  • they give credit to Tasunoko studios & paid royalties so it is not stealing. No one is more angered by Harmony Gold then RT fans. The whole point of Robotech was to bring anime to the US. making new animation would have been sub par. I remember freaking out when Blockbuster video first had an anime section, before RT there was no anime,no manga, closest thing was Shogun Warriors & Takara's micronauts. US was very anti japan & cartoons were for kids then. RT brought mature themed anime to US.

  • @plecster210 this guy knows

  • I grew up watching Robotech in 1986' and even before that some anime like Force Five(bad u.s dubs of five big robots shows aired on early cable around 1980-2,)although I am partial to Robotech over Macross because of the longer cannon, storyline, character development and multiple alien races and actors and OST). Still this song/scene pretty much is the ultimate moment of my anime experience of my 35 years on this planet. Only close second maybe would be the train scene in Spirited Away.

  • Wow, I only recently found out the death of the composer and made a very late discovery of the japanese VA for Hikaru committing suicide in 1996, and original Minmay VA actually voicing Minmay for English dub to commemorate him.

  • Just to be clear, this vid is NOT from the Macross series. It is from the MOVIE that was a re-imaging of the series. The movie only covers the trip back from Pluto to Earth and it is very different from the Macross series. I love the original Macross series but think the movie DYRL in some ways was a bit better in how they handled the music and the stories of some of the characters.

  • @Vagabond1997 Agreed.

  • I just love the Vs-1f so damn much, and also Hikaru, Lisa, Max and Miria are so awesome~!!!

  • Man~! If they could remake DYRL with the graphics of Marcross Frontier, I would totally go wild over it!

  • @mdfkrick IT would be an abomination. DYRL was made in the golden age of animation when animators could draw and create effects with ink and paint. Now a days most animators are quick to throw real art out the window and go strait to CG. Why? Idk, could be no one knows how to draw anymore ,maybe some twit told them it looked good, there's just too much of it. MF's biggest flaw was the use of CG in all the space battles. To remake DYRL with all that CG would ruin it's legacy.

  • @grimmrheraldthefrenc True~you got your point! I couldn't agree more with you, lol! But then, just for the sake of DYRL, I wanna see a remake~ some new stuff based on DYRL characters, hehehe~! Wouldn't that be nice?

  • A remake with Frontier's CGI would be good, but not too much during battles, and if they do remake DYRL, they might need someone to do Hikaru Ichijiyo's voice since Arihiro Hose (Hikaru's original Japanese voice) died, like either Kenji Nomura or Yuichi Nakamura (Alto Saotome's Japanese voice in Frontier).

  • i just love the sdf 1 tearing shit up! epic!!!!!

  • THE POWER OF SONG!

  • Whatever it is, even if it's robotech or what, if fans still love it, then love it. Who cares what it has done to the series.

  • man , robotech is fuckin legendary, this HAVE to be the most legendary scene on anime history.

  • @darkstarXSI Please donr ever call Macross robotech and don't ever confuse the two. Macross is an epic space opera for all times. Robotech is a peice of american bullshit made with stolen animationa and ripped off ideas it was crap then it's crap now Viva Macross.
