We have some kind of jack-of-all-trades moth infestation currently. We found a nest inside our bird cage, at the bottom rim where they had been eating either the pellets or the seed shells on the bottom. We got rid of that and washed it thoroughly, and now apparently they moved to the pantry because my mother found a bag of oatmeal full of webbings and eggs. Hopefully after we clean out the pantry we'll get rid of them but they are persistant little fuckers.
i cleaned my pantry out today and vacumed any litle silky webs i could find in all the crevices i chuckd alot of things out that had any hint of their sacks then used metholated spirits cloth and wiped down the entire pantry i then used surface spray and hit every corner ceiling line i could find then waited 4 hours before returning my sealed food back into the pantry chances are we already ate food they had been touching ah well extra protein i got 90% of em i will use sticky traps for the rest
I went on a one man manhunt against mine. I took a wet wash rag, and everywhere I saw one, I whacked it and rinsed it down the sink. I targeted HUNDREDS of the little fuckers.
i freakin hate these moths! Theyre everywhere, and starting to spread around the house. Im filipino, and we have rice as a base for our food so we basically eat rice everyday. But im about to quite cause i find the larvae squirming everywhere in the rice. its so disgusting! and im too scared to walk into my pantry lol!
For anyone who has trouble with moths entering the house, here's a perfect trap:
Buy a nightlight, and remove any cover over the bulb, (you need it to be as bright as possible) And fill up a bowl with soapy water. Plug in your nightlight somewhere like a bathroom or hallway, someplace you see a lot of moths. Place the bowl right under the light, a moth will fly to the light and be trapped in the water! Use at night.
Yeah but these are indian meal moths. these things are notorious for attacking dry food. it's best to buy air tight containers to keep your dry food in and to also buy moth traps to trap the males. but once you have an infestation theres pretty much no way to totally get rid of the problem but only to control it. just look at these things in the video...they're not to be taken lightly. these things cause massive damage for their size. your nightlight tip seems like a good one though. should try.
These things are very irritating creatures. I was just cooking some soup for supper. However, when I was pouring my soup into the bowl, a god-damned moth flew direct into my soup and spoiled everything. I had to pour out the soup. These nasty and horrible creatures. I hate them!!!!!
We all do. unfortunately it's a worldwide problem so nothing can be done to get rid of them, all you can do is try to keep the problem under control. more than likely they're already in your yummy food on the trip back from your local grocery store -_-. they LOVE dry food and moist fruits. it sucks.
LMAO your story about how the moth flew directly into your soup was very funny(sounds like you had a very hungry, greedy, and unwanted house guest :P), but in all seriousness your absolutly right about what you said. they are indeed very irritating, nasty, horrible, gross wierd looking creatures. sucks to be anyone who has these...
Well i found and solved my problem today. i have this cabinet in my basement that i have'nt been in for years and i noticed these things coming out of the cracks of it. i get the willies, open it up and there all in my cabinet crawling and hanging 0_o. there were about 1-2 hundred all over some old boxes of pastas, rice, cake mixes, cereals, etc. so f-cking gross i almost passed out. food got tossed, larve got doused and murdered with bleach, and now they're freezing outside in the garbage cans.
They can eat through sealed plastic bags, cardboard, and get into tupperware containers. i suggest you go through everything in your pantry and all surrounding areas where dry food, chocolates, nuts, spices, and dried fruit, etc is and discard anything that has those things crawling all over them. check your ceilings as well...they like to crawl across them!. it's gross. Lock-n-Lock container work great in keeping these things out and ultimately dying these things out via starvation. good luck.
Do "Lock & Lock" brand containers actually keep these pieces of crap out?. i've heard that they're air tight & that nothing can get in...even if it's been submerged in water!. these things seriously have to be stopped!. they annoy me & they creep me out to no end everytime i see them...literally get goosebumps & chills immediately. any more tips on how to get rid of these things once & for all?. i've heard about putting bay leaves around & on your food & airtight containers!. anything else?????.
UGH. i cannot explain how much i hate these pieces of sh-t!. they're in my kitchen & the room next to it -_-. i don't know what caused this but i'm freaked out & i have had it!. i had this problem before but found the source(an old box of kellog's rasin bran crunch that was'nt finished). they were on my kitchen table, in my computer keyboard, on the ceiling, in some of my dry food, etc. i just had to buy a couple hundred dollars worth of "Lock & Lock" containers all becuse of these bas--rds -_-.
Ugh I brought these things home with some basmati rice...
never will I buy basmati rice again and everything is going into containers!!!
oh man...I feel so gross right now...
they were all over my cups for ages and I could never figure out why there were worms or catarpillars as I was calling them, in my coffee mugs!!! :( EWW
I had to put all my rice, grains etc. into glass jars. And not just any glass jars, but ones with nice snug lids. The one in the video was plastic with a somewhat flimsy lid; the little buggers got in. My new ones do the job.
I read online that they COME in the rice you purchase!! They came as eggs in the rice because the eggs are so small that they cannot be filtered at all so...they came home with you with your rice purchase!! :o

"they're everywhere?"
Are you asking me if they're everywhere (in my house) or are you telling me they're everywhere in your house?.
