Peter Boyle's performance and the theme song, "Hey Joe" are almost worth another star on their own.

And Joe is the boy's father, played by Brooks as an NRA toting full on hardcase that you wouldn't believe unless you saw it. This movie was like looking into the heart of the parent from hell and realizing that a lot of folks thought Joe was the hero.
