@ThePortakalos can you get your turkish ass off this page and find something better to do. I dont have the time to look into it, i dont trust turks so i dont believe you.
@ThePortakalos I dont care, its food at the end of the day. Show me a old turkish goujagare making dolma, a photograph from the old days then we'll talk
@ThePortakalos This aint no Greek or turkish thing here, all i know is my grandma was cooking that shit, yours was too, if you can prove it with facts then we'll talk.
Just be proud of cultural influence. I wouldn't call it Turkish though. Its more Eastern Mediterranean. And if you want us to learn from a Turk then you make a video! I don't need the tube though, I have my Arab mom.
While Ottoman cuisine was (and is) magnificent, the Turks were originally a nomadic people. As such, they did not cultivate vines, have ovens etc. Therefore most "Turkish" baked dishes and dishes with most vegetables have Greek, Persian or Arab origins. So, while kebabs, gyro, etc., may be Turkish in origin, grape leaves, mousaka, etc. are not. I admit, however, that while many of these dishes are not Turkish in origin, the Turks perfected many of them and made them even more delicious.
yes we will give your back your "dolma" and promise to never make them again, just give us back Constantinople that you stole from us and then while you ar at it medicine and math and science and literature and politics came from Greeks so you can stop stealing from us as well please
While I can be honest about the quality of Ottoman/Turkish cuisine, you should be honest about Greek contributions. "did nothing for Math???????"
Did you forget: Anaxagoras, Archimedes, Aristotle, Diocles, Eratosthenes, Geminus, Proclus, Euclid, Xenocrates, Zenodorus, Democritus, Theon of Smyrna, Ptolemy, Nicomedes, Pythagoras (was 3/4 Greek and 1/4 Phoenician by blood, but 100% Greek culturally ), etc. I could name 20 more. I challenge you to name even five pure Phoenician mathematicians.
I love you guys, you remind me of many people that i have met in the pelopanese on my visit's to greece. My grandfather's village is myrtia, I'm going to retire there one day
Yes, I love koupepia, I'm making them without meat because its Lent now for my Yiayia's memorial becuase she died 40 days ago this Sunday, she used Lamb mince, but you can use beef, pork or Veal, Greek Cypriots eat a lot more meat than Greeks don't you think? They are much better with meat though than veggie dolmathes, also you can put dill aswell in with the parsley.
werent most of us all Anatolian two hundred years ago? turks, greeks and armenians have all contributed to the development of ottoman cuisine, we should leave nationalism out of our amazing cuisines, food should reconciliate not cause tension, so stop whining about who owns what and eat together.
This couple is hilarious!! I love the translations... they don't quite reveal EVERYTHING they are saying... it's like the PG version. Great videos. BTW, where are they from? Are they Cypriot?
Are these real recipes? I mean if they aren't, I'm doing a lot of writing for nothing ... are they speaking Cypriot? No wonder I can barely understand it ... duh ... who cares anyway - if these recipes are real, it's well worth it ... keep 'em coming please!!!
The only problem is that we made them for milleniums before turks come from central asia!Afterall there where nomads(tsatsiki, kebap and some pies are there"s certainlly).
You know many muslims who cook pork & winelives??
Of course the food is similar it was created by people in the same region. Yes, the names we have for these foods now are Turkish because they invaded and occupied Greece for 400 years... just recently did Greece declare itself and independent country. I'm sure these foods were called something different before the occupation and we all ate them just the same. It doesn't make it less tasty. :-)
There are always variations of recipes due to many factors, traditions, tastes, generations and even what is available. I'm sure you've seen a different cuisine from your grandmother to your mother, from one family to another, from one region of the same country to another. It doesn't make it wrong or write, it's a matter of taste and familiarity. I personally HATE lamb gyros like they have them in the States but many people now consider it Greek food. It's not wrong or right, it's different.
Did the Mongolian Turkish race had, in Mongolia's endless deserts, vineyards? I don't think so. So stop making propaganda. It's well known between Greeks that most of those recipes have been given by the Greeks of Konstantinoupolis/Istanbul.
afthartos... are you talking to me or to jelijeli1905? Because I think we are saying the same thing. :-) In other words, the food was named something Greek before the invasion and now it has a Turkish name.
Wonderful video, great actor/actress and director with real life.... haa haa haaa... my dad used to beat my mom's buts... but my dad didn't get slap......Please have some more video.... Thank you....
