Auch wenn ich Amerika nicht sonderlich mag, sind die USA und Deutschland irgendwo Brüderstaaten. Doch in der Geschichte waren wir nahezu immer verfeindet. Ich finde es sehr Schade das in den Weltkriegen sich eigentlich Landsmänner beschossen haben. Amerika is sehr stark von den Deutschen geprägt. Vom Essen bis zur Bürkokratie.

My mother rembers that he still had a slight accent. He tried to join the army during WW1 but was declined. He later gave the impression that he was dicriminated against due to his name and accent. They told him go back to the farm.

English is a Germanic, not a German language. German (especially the Lower German dialects in the North of Germany) and English are similar but not identic. So wie ich weis bezeichneten sichim Jahre 2000 50 Millionen US-Amerikaner als Deutsche/Deutschstämmige. Dann dürfte das mit den 17% gut hinhauen. Desweiteren muss man den Anteil der Deutschen in den USA unter der weißen Bevölkerung wohl noch weit höher setzten, denn gut 30% + der US-Bevölkerung besteht aus den Nachfahren von afrikanischen Slaven sowie aus Asiaten und Latinos.

Vermutlich sind gute 50% der weißen US-Amerikaner deutschstämmig !?

Wieso das ?

Höre ich einen englischen Muttersprachler deutsch sprechen (vor allem die US-Amerikaner), so hört sich das oft so an, wie bei jemandem der gerade nach einem Schlaganfall das Sprechen neu erlernen würde. Laute, Vokale und Selbstlaute...von Grammatik nicht zu sprechen.

Also gleiches Recht für alle.Ich denke in dem Vergleih stehen wir doch noch weit aus besser....
