Tried this on Imogen Heap's 2-1 song... have the instrumental from the album and the retail version. It doesn't work. I had the tracks aligned perfect as far as I know. It's a little upsetting :( Is there any better way to accomplish this without buying sonicWORX Isolate... for $500.. ?

Or, what will work as well, but not as great, is if u can't find the instrumental, to the song that you want, you can put both tracks on, and the second deck, go to the vocal effect and select the mic and turn it on on deck 2 THEN turn the inverter on...Works ok with some songs, but not all...DJ Smokey, this is how I came up with the question of removing the voice and keeping the instrumenal.

@djsmokey phase inversion only works if the instrumental is the exact same as the original. The artist kno about phase inversion and are releasing tracks then releasing instrumentals which are different so u can't work with their vocals. They don't want djs monkeying around with there music. unless they are well known.

i went back into my docs. and opened up virtual dj folder clicked on the effects icons to open.

i then rebooted my laptop again and returned to virtual dj effects..there they were..and working..about twenty five effects...

Two weeks ago,some one post "how to get free effects" so i followed up on it.

anyways..i downloaded the zip file and extracted the zip into my trenscends usb clip.once i had them i opened up my my docs. folder and my trenscends folder. i saw all the effects in little red icons and opened up my virtual dj folder in my docs.

i then draged and dropped the effects i wanted underneath the virtual dj folder.closed the windows and shut down my laptop and rebooted up.

The idea behind this is along the same lines as noise cancelling headphones. They sample the sound and invert the waveform. This will cancel each other out. Invert the instrumental, play it over the original and only the voice should be left.

Hey morons don't use VirtualDJ use Adobe Audition! much easier. This guy is just showing you how it can be done with this software. In order for the this to work the Vocal and instrumental have to be sonically the same and high quality. A good rule to follow is if the track times don't match it usually won't work, and no it does not work from recorded vinyl no matter how good you rip it to wav,mp3 etc. Best to use cd singles

an a capella is a LYRICS-ONLY version of the song.

He has shown you how to make an a capella. If you want to REMOVE lyrics, then you'd be making an instrumental, which is not what you searched for.

what are the settings i need for virtual dj to make one track come out of my headphones and one to come out through my main speakers. i have a behringer bcd3000 with a built in headphone jack but i keep getting either both tracks from the headphones or both tracks from the speakers.

but u must have at least 2 audio outputs so it gives a channel to each audio output so u can hook it up to the mixer and u hook the headphones to ur mixer like normal

Theres a software you can get which lets you type a word and it gives you an mp3 sample of that word being said in whatever tone/gender etc. that you want. Not sure of the name of it but google it and your sure to find it.

Yes it works, and with extra work in a wave editor and a few passes, you could get it pretty crisp. but you need the instrumental to the track. this is probably the best way for amatuers.
