  • Get Back is not one of John's best performances...

  • Interesting. George's vocal version sounds more countryish, whereas John's sounds glam.

  • @jackbox1971 thats becuase george has not the voice to sing a screaming song. When you think about it, george was the lead guitar player for one of the biggest rock bands ever, yet look at all his solo albums, where was the great loud rocking songs? He buy his own account never practiced the guitar- he had cute little solos- but nother like - clapton, page beck- or evan the guy from the banana splits

  • Yoko's really not that bad....

  • yoko. no talent skank

  • This is a great version. When was it recorded? It should have been realeased on the Anthology series.

  • Strangely, I never liked the original, always thought Paul sounded a bit flat. I feel the same way about Can't Buy Me Love - something about his voice is just flat, lacks edge. Otherwise he was an insane virtuoso with his voice. But John had the best rock voice of all time. Maybe this was him saying, "hey, maybe we should do it like in the old days." But by this point they were basically individual artists playing back-up to each other, not really collaborating in a big way.

  • WOW the punk vesion....cool. like it

  • This is the reprise version..This is John AND Paul singing

  • John version is more wild... i still like it

  • very good

  • This wasn't as rehearsed as the Paul version. You can tell John is slurring some of the words. If rehearsed it no doubt would've been perfect.

  • Ther it is again. Thw CCER know as Yoko Ono. She is the worst thing to happen to John Lennon and the Beatles. In the later years andin most of johns soslo career you always see her in the middle of things. I wish John had never met that Canser Yoko Ono. I know I am being really crule but I have a feeling many people basicly agree with my centiment. Thank you for posting this video.

  • I like this a lot, funky and different, I prefer it over the version I heard featuring George, but I have to take the original with Paul singing it as my first choice. The original is classic, still, this version Rocks! Ole Johnny the rocker.

  • Rock 1910, where did you ever get the idea that "Yoko appeared with the Beatles on stage"? The Beatles quit touring in 1966. John did not meet Yoko until after that; therefore, she could not have appeared on stage with them. Duh!

  • i know john kinda made fun of some of pauls songs but i think he loved Get Back the lyrics and everything sound more like something john would do

  • Yoko is a witch and what does that tell you? She is destined to go to hell.

  • mandate una zapada!!!!

  • SO ROCKER!!!!

  • Deep down... John was a rocker... Just listen to this songs beat and vocals and guitar.

  • thats true but yoko appeared with the beatles on stage thinking she could sing

  • @ROCK1910 When was that?

  • @ROCK1910 she never appeared onstage with the BEATLES. they were no longer touring at this point.

  • @ROCK1910 She went on stage with John, but not the Beatles. And she fucked it up every time.

  • @sparkytrick Hey, it was John's doing - he wanted her there, so blame him, not her.

  • yoko ono cause all the problems with the beatles hate her

  • @ROCK1910 actually i think it was brian epsteins death that really broke them up no 1 individual could break up the beatles

  • I like what John puts into it, he is shouting, Paul's version was great but not as strong. Also love "get back" part with both of them.

  • How the hell did John get anything done with Yucko Oh No constantly up his ass? Who the hell did she think she was, a Beatle? What a nervy nutjob she is!

  • I like that there is an extra verse here.

  • D: wich one is the album´s name iii

  • ok, when was this version recorded ?

  • leave it to good ol' Johnny boy to purposefully fuck up the lyrics and still make it sound awesome.

If he isn't yet one of your musical senseis, (he isn't for at least 38 people) then you are still an aural toddler. Your counter-argument is, by default, invalid because you aren't yet mature enough to know what music is.

  • John's version is bettter. :-)

  • the words are different?

  • @Cheeseychum no?

  • @viceisthename

    I'm sure some bits are...

  • @Cheeseychum No, listen to the real one... the lyrics are the same...

  • ah, 1st time I heard the Pakistani verse, only read of it up to now

  • Interesting. He's not even trying to make fun of it...

  • I wonder if there is a version with Ringo singing. I know there is a session where Charles Manson sang Helter skelter in 1968.

  • The best version of this song I ever heard! Like the good old times in the early 60s:))

  • This is GREAT! I never heard Lennon on this vocal.

With Beatles in mind, I've posted the video, "40 years in 3 minutes", which is a music video containing the Beatles' rooftop performance, historical events over the last 40 years and 8mm film antics from the period, all cut tightly to GET BACK and GLASS ONION. Hope you enjoy!

  • Could of been a theme tune... :D This is amazing!!

  • @KidBornInWrongYear Ok thanks-but where did this come from??

  • does anyone know if this version is on itunes??

  • Thank God Paul did this song too, lol

  • You know, I've in the past had the same "Yoko destroyed the band" mentality too, but its not true really. I'm sure no one really has all the personal details but bottom line is that John wanted her there. She did not force herself on him. John and Paul had been struggling against each other for a while, and if anything, having someone to love gave John needed refreshment and recoup. For all we know, Yoko being around for John may have actually extended the bands time together.

  • @Foxtrot1138 I've read a few accounts from the lennon diaries, and apparently yoko made john wierdly change, as if she was almost brainwashing him. it's all very interesting because there are so many contradicting sides.

  • @Amiles666 If you pump somebody with drugs for an extended period of time, that does happen.

  • @garotadagavea hahaha, i guess so!

  • Every time I see Yoko in the studio with the guys it pisses me off. The no-talent leech had no business in there, imo. 4 musicians(legends) and 1 idiot.

  • @ToddSweeneyOnce Dude she was actually very talented. and I see your still living in 1971 and think yoko broke up the beatles.

  • @SgtPepper9537 I can only assume you mean talented as an artist. Certainly not as a singer. And I'm not living in 1971, but I wish I still was. It was a lot better than now.

  • @ToddSweeneyOnce Sir, you are the idiot. John Loved her, And wanted her there. She Didnt do anything to ruin the band. They where Having probles way before she came along. Even George said that. So dont go balming Her for anything, Exept for Loveing One of the greatest men Of all time.

  • @peterpanfangirl Actually, Yoko is to blame for a lot of things that happened during the final Beatles years.

  • @hanbichan No She is not. Just Because they happened to break up right after John And Her got together does not mean that she Is to blame. Im sure if you talk to any of them, they will tell you that George, John, And Ringo were more sick of Paul then Ringo Paul and George Where of Yoko. Do your research Before you try and Argue that she is to blame.

  • @peterpanfangirl You must be joking. They loathed Yoko, particularly George.

And she IS to blame, not for the break up of The Beatles, certainly, but for the break-up of the Lennon/McCartney partnership/friendship. For his bad relation with his son, after he and Cyn got the divorce. For John looking like a stick by the end of his life. For his dependence on heroin and on her. For preventing John from collaborating with Paul again. Should I continue?

  • @hanbichan You are being So Ignorant. They did not hate her. They may have Disliked her, But they do not hate her. You are Just being a prick. Read a book or two, Before you try and tell someone off.

  • @peterpanfangirl Did John tell you he loved her? Oh wait, he was dead 12 years before you were born, so you don't know shit. Go back to your playpen you little retarded child. You're probably wearing a GaGa shirt right now. Anybody with any Beatles knowledge knows she helped break up the greatest band ever. Were they having problems before she came along? I'm sure they were. Most bands do, but she sure didn't help things.

  • don't is bad, but i like paul version

  • Both John and George's versions are good but I still like the original with Paul singing it.

  • @lissybearx3 --maybe it's just because you're used to the main one with Paul; this one rocks Ok too

  • i think lennon sung 'get back' ,for linda !!!!!

  • The key to writing any song is the art of repetition. You dont just write and play a song in one take and that's it. This is a good example of trial and error, take what's good and discard what's bad...

  • i think they should let ringo do the vocals also for this song...haha

  • better than the original version much more gritty

  • the beatles always experimented. Likely the idea was to see who might sound better singing it. If you listen to the anthology outtales there a lots of examples of them farting around like this...figuring out what to do with the songs..

  • I really love John, but all the cool detail is gone, replaced by off key screaming...plus he blows the vocals at 1:38......mediocre at best

  • @tripheath yeah i think they were just jamming lol

  • I really love John, but all the cool detail is gone, replaced by off key screaming...plus he blows the vocals at 1:38......mediocre at best

  • Man this is like Sister Ray multiplied by the best punk of the seventies.

  • Paul was playing drums on this version wasnt it?

  • Wasn´t "Get Back" written by Paul, as a dig at Yoko ?

    (He´ll never admit I know)

  • Seems a Rolling Stones version :s

  • In my opinion, it's a big crap. A prefer the original one.

  • good God--that's just awful--I know John thought she was great--BUT_---------

  • @Atomicflash500 hey that was John's choice to be with yoko and this song rocks!!

  • Yoko. GO AWAY!

  • Comment removed

  • the Girl friend should have given them some space...the song stinks anyway.

  • 珍しい初めてみる動画関心がもてました

  • This is really more gritty, I like it more than the original, with all due respect to Sir Paul

  • Where did you find this?

  • this version is awesome! and leave it to john to screw up the lyrics xD haha jk it's hilarious

  • is 1:12 samara from The Ring??? O.O

  • I like.. Heaps. It's heaps more rocky and corse, these men are the best.

  • @BulletLord909 John's vocals were always mroe on the edgey side. Anything fast that he sings comes out more rocky

  • Wow! We've even got some extra lyrics in there that you don't hear on the record. Great stuff! Thanks for posting.

  • I like this version better than the original. It is heavier and rockier.I like the original but this one is a better version.

  • this has way more rock then the original (paul) >:) this is why hes my fav beatle! kick some ass John!!! R.I.P

  • good, but i prefer the Paul song!

  • It is now the time to start listening to the Beatles’ music with new ears. Not for entertainment; this time listen just for its spiritual value. Go to truthcontest (dot) com, then open The Present and read the section about The Beatles. Show this to every Beatles fan you know.

  • better with john on lead!

  • I'm guessing this is from John's Plastic Ono days?

  • @Jody07984 Either that or Elephant's Memory Band.........both backing bands were kinda sloppy from being under-rehearsed.

  • @Jody07984 No, it's a Nagra tape from the Get Back sessions - you can hear the sync noise at about 10 seconds in. I'd say it's at Apple studios, before the rooftop concert (23-30 Jan. 1969). It could be at twickenham, but the lyrics were largely incomplete at the time (2-10 Jan. 1969).

  • I liked George better than I like Paul, but this song needs Paul's voice. George butchered this, to my ears. Just my opinion. Don't want to argue. But thumbs up if you think Yoko should have waited in the fucking car.

  • I'd never heard this before! A whole lot nastier sounding than the Paul version. Man I love that guitar.

  • in 2:08 look heather `s daughter linda singing togheter with john mhm ? so cute the two

  • this version fucking sucks

  • @Crimzoid21 AGREED!!!!!! See comment above.

  • @glimmerman108 I was afraid you would be a hater commenting LOL. Yeah I just think this version takes away from the bluesy Finis of The Beatles version.

  • I think McCartney originally wanted Lennon to sing lead on "Get Back"

  • Love it! Wonder what 'take' this was?

  • @njriley55 My guess is that this hails from the Twickenham rehearsals and not the sessions at Apple which started on January 22nd. This version has some kick ass bite to it, wouldn't you agree? Funny to hear this song originally being rehearsed as a Rolling Stones type rocker! Then again "On Our Way Home" (later to be titled "Two Of Us") was first rehearsed as a hard rocker too!

  • try to see yoko singn this tune

  • Just more proof the Beatles were the greatest fking band ever.

  • cool! It lends a totally different sound. Funny though that John f-cks up the words/lyrics! I mean WTH is he singing about?

Then making the weird noises at 2:07 Love it! Vintage John. LOL!

  • ...or Pete Best's version......

  • This is one of the few times that I've actually seen Yoko be openly affectionate to John in public....!

  • More raucous, more edge, more dirt. Leave it to John...

  • @strummerrrocks Dude John and George are dead....and they're kinda irreplaceable.

  • John sang the songs that were right for him- and so did Paul. That's why they're so good.

  • @kodiakfred140 John always thought he could've done Oh! Darling better than Paul.

  • @Scarperguy i would love if there was a recorded version of John doing it... but i dont think they did =(

  • @0000song0000 There's one on the Anthology that has John harmonizing with Paul on the track

  • @Scarperguy yes, i know but he's more like "responding" Paul...

it's kinda weird coz in 1:37 Paul is responding himself ("when you told me...")

and then it's funny 2:40 ... 3:05 Paul "Believe when I tell you" John "Oh! I do"

and John sings about Yoko's divorce 3:30 XD

  • @kodiakfred140 It generally went by who wrote the majority of the lyrics.

  • What ever happened to the Beatles, they were quite a promising band

  • @strummerocks O.o

  • @strummerocks Hahaha

  • I think this is sing Ringo and Johnn!

  • Great post! How bout the Georges Martin's rendition of it with the London Sympho Orch.. lof

  • Awsomw, but i steel prefere Paul in this song

  • ... All that stuff is just for fun, don't forget it ! For instance, you've just got to listen to Paul's cover of I'm So Tired to understand it can't clearly be better than the original...

  • we all know johns is better mainly because it doesn't make sense!

  • And that, my friends, is why Paul sang.

  • i agree paul's version is better.......no offense to john i think he is a great writer/musician/performer but his verses don't seem to make sense

  • Good thing they went with Paul's version

  • GET BACK ONO

  • la raja wn!!

  • ROCK N ROLL!

  • Is McCartney playing drums on this take? It sounds more like his drumming style than Ringo's (especially the fill right at the end)

  • this bites pauls much better

  • i'm sorry but pauls is better <3

  • The best version ever of Get Back.

  • John loved yoko, thats good enough for me

  • No no no. Definitivamente la versión correcta es cantada con Paul.

  • Yoko couldn't let her ole man even go to work by himself...pitiful. That heifer knew what she was doing.

  • No more Yoko please.

  • never thought i'd prefer paul's hard rock take on this song but then again this is probably just a rehearsal or something

  • Get back to USSR! :D

  • @ogreboy608 - exactly! I'm sure this is Paul on drums, just like he played drums on USSR.

  • @misterhumble Right:D

  • macca does it was better....hes just got that vioce....it make meh meltt!!!!

  • It's sort of mixed up, but it's john style....i like it.

  • this version is more like back in the ussr

  • This is amazing - what I hear is the inspiration of the musical breakdown in "The End" on Side 2 of Abbey Road where George, John and Paul took turns trading solos.

It's the same chords, some of the same cymbal crashes, part of the drum solo - even some of the guitar solos are similar. I would never have connected the two songs.

  • This is just a rough demo/messing around. It's useless to criticize it.

  • LOL sorry but no no no....

  • There will be one of the Beatles song that is not good?

  • @abdiellost

Your question makes no grammatical sense.

  • @Beckgab123 :)

  • @Beckgab123 even though, maybe he was high when he sung this, we all know john has also a GREAT voice

  • I really like this version. So Lively! Way cooler than the one released, but Paul of course did a good job too.

  • I really like this version. So Lively!

  • all opinions are correct, because who defines wrong and right ?

it's what the society wants you to believe it's the right one but it isn't many opinions can be correct and many more can be not so good but still, who are you to judge other people's ideas or opinions?

  • @pesterlovis The word democratic doesn't apply to this situation at all. If I somehow had control of what people could say and I didn't let them voice their opinion, that would be un-democratic. I am voicing my opinion (which is the correct one) that the people who disagree with me are retards (they are).

  • Sounds like both John & Paul are singing lead.

  • Are you sure he´s john? It sounds like Mick Jagger...

  • @hernanbeatle4ever you are right! but john made many voices, perhaps he wanted to imitate mick.

  • awesome version, sounds like Hendrix is doing the guitar here lol. and the drums are good too

  • John's rockin version

  • I perfer this version!

  • Now to find the Ringo version!

  • @twifan2luv that would be funny

  • @twifan2luv Dude, that would ruin it.

  • @twifan2luv lol

  • @twifan2luv and the george harrison version too!!!

  • @skyboy458 No theres a George Harrison version on the side bar.
