8/22/2011.. I saw The Martins last night at the American Music Theater.. Lancaster, Pa. and they werejust AWESOME. So filled with the Holy Spirit..they left you feeling spiritually filled.. The show was just fabulous.. Their love for God is wonderful...
hey hoover, thanks so much for posting such wonderful video's . I love this ! Your video's enable me to have access to video's I other wise would not be able to purchase! You Rock
I remember seeing them at a church in Monroe, MI, many years ago. Then I saw them with other Homecoming Friends at the Palace of Auburn Hills. What a thrill! What vocal talent! Thanks for sharing.
bluerodeodemon46 is correct. Being a family group they naturally have the vocal timbre match. Notice when they sing there chords buzz. Nice wonderful overtones from The Martins. Some groups can produce both over and undertones to make a very big sound with as little as 3 people. Sounds like 5 or 6 singing.
actually there is no fourth voice, heres how i see it. The stiff looking woman, and the man both are doing the same not at the end (both on different octaves), The one on the left when she does the "side" rift down (notes), then the other woman goes up leaving the man still at the same note that they were doing from before, so at this point in time, u have 3 different notes, but the fact that the man stays at his note, makes it seem like 4 people 2 ppl doing his, 1 doing each of the 2 women.
Shall we gather by the river and Down by the River Side both in a medley, so you wont usually find them sang together regularly, they are separate songs usually
The "fourth" voice is actually an overtone produced by flawless execution of the other three voices - you hear the same effect when you listen to a Barbershop Quartet when you hear the "fifth" voice
ummm... someone correct me if i'm wrong, but there are 4 voices that end that song. I'd like to know HOW they did that!
VERY FEW people can actually push nasally and vocally at the same time to make a harmony, but it's rare. There are three voices holding when the eldest sister does her ending "funk". The other two are holding a constant harmonic note - then someone harmonizes with the eldest, making 4 voices. If you break it down you can hear it. Am i crazy??? Regardless, it's beautiful!
@klpetet I know your comment is a year old, but i'm responding anyway, lol. What you hear is what is called an "overtone." It's very common in barbershop singing. What happens is that the frequency from the vocals from everyone singing just so happens to line up, and this causes another frequency (or note if you will) to be heard. There, I tried to put that into as best laymen terms as I could. Anyone who doesn't understand vocal frequencies would be confused by the technical explanation, lol.
~Man you should see the Martins in Concert. They are prefect and wonderful and they all love God like I do and put him first in everything in their lives like I should be doing!~
i love their voices so much!!! all of their acapella songs are just amazing.. I wonder witch one of them come up with the arrangements and harmonies..
tell yall what else is amazing. "All people that on earth do dwell" a cappella by the martins...absolutely stunning harmony... gorgeous! Anybody have a video of that to post here on you tube?
Wow is right. I met them years back in Kansas City, and I'll tell you they are some of the nicest, most down to earth sweethearts you could ever meet. Beautiful! I get goose bumps every time I hear them sing.
This is so powerful. I find myself humming the melody throughout the day. Thank God we can lay down our burdens, just as easily as the song says! Praise the Lord, we are bound for the Promised Land!
wow, amazing amazing harmony. You can't beat the sound that a family makes... something about the voices just seem to fit together perfect. MY 2 sisters and I sing 3 part harmony a capella, and we get most of our ideas from the martins...they're the best at beautiful harmony! Simply amazing, God-given talent.
